New Years Eve TakeAway

I just had to share our excellent experience of our Statham’s TakeAway on New Year’s Eve. COVID restrictions meant that all restaurants and pubs were closed, so it was brilliant that Stathams offered a take away service. The online form made it really easy to order our food from the Pembroke website. It was really easy to select our food choices and our pick up time. Soon after I got a phone call from Eoin at Pembroke reception to confirm my order. It was a nice personal touch, and I was pleasantly informed by Eoin that our order qualified for a free bottle of the house red. I highly recommend the lamb and the feather blade of beef. We also got the vegan nut roast which was also delicious. The desert choices were also perfect. We wanted to celebrate New Years Eve as best we could given the restrictions and Stathams was the highlight of the night. The quality of the food and wine and the friendliness and helpful nature of the staff made it a very positive experience. Stathams new entrance was very classy. With COVID restrictions in place, I felt very safe around the staff. I highly recommend Stathams as a take away destination in Kilkenny during these Covid times!

Amazing food and Customer Service

As a group of 6 we had the most wonderful evening in Statham’s. The sun was shining and although it was Friday 13th I do believe it was lucky for us. We had dinner booked for 7pm, upon arriving early we were delighted to be invited to sit out in the courtyard and enjoy a relaxed cocktail before our dinner. The cocktails were amazing and so too were the staff as at no time were we rushed into our table. So, dinner - we choose a mixture of the bites to share among us all and this was perfect as we had just the right amount. So glad as the mains were just amazing. 5 Steaks each cooked to the desire of each individual and everyone was raving about them. Absolutely the most beautiful steaks I have tasted, and presentation was class. The steak came with the tastiest kale and onion puree and beef jus - seriously heaven. One of the guys had Hake which was the fish of the day, and he was equally delighted with his choice. There are great options on the menu so everyone will be satisfied and most NB happy. Desserts choose was Roast Banana Ice cream - wow !!! you must try, and my favourite was the marinated blackberries with oatmeal biscuit. Some of the gang choose another cocktail instead of dessert. The thing I love about this night was the atmosphere, there's a buzz around the hotel, the food is centre of attention in a warm family sense cupped with outstanding customer service. This hotel really needs to train other venues on their customer service as I have never experienced the warm and attention provided elsewhere. The staff want to make your night special. If you're coming to Kilkenny Statham's is a must and if you are living in Kilkenny Statham's is a must. Beautiful food, amazing chef, fabulous staff, and the ambience is heaven. Only wished I was staying over that night. Looking forward to meeting up again here with friends.

Food is good but can be pricey

We had dinner here a few days before Christmas as a family. We ate in the bar rather than the sit down restaurant. The food is good here and well presented. Where I was disappointed was my order for a turkey and Ham dinner was priced at €29. Far in excess of the other main course dishes and the kind of price one might expect to pay for a steak. In addition this dish was being served in the Christmas party nights, so something prepared in some quantities in the kitchen, no doubt. The cocktails were good also but I will not be rushing back to eat here.

Fantastic food!

Statham’s has quite simply excellent food! It’s fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The staff are friendly, polite and efficient, and the meals were terrific. When we complimented the chef to the wait staff, they let us know their head chef earned a Michelin star previously and runs a wonderful kitchen! It certainly shows! Must-go when visiting Kilkenny, and highly recommend the spring roll appetizer and the bream. Brilliant!

Excellent food and service

I went here on Saturday night with my parents and husband. We had very special dietary requirements which I phoned about beforehand. The chef ordered in specific food to suit our needs and on the night, we were treated with such care and dignity. Would highly recommend. Food was fantastic and with the amazing waiting staff - its a place not to be missed on a visit to Kilkenny.

Exceptionally fine dining in Kilkenny.

Our dinner at Statham’s was the best meal we have had after a week of traveling in Ireland. We stayed at the Pembroke Hotel and were interested in trying their restaurant, Statham’s. Initially, the small, nondescript hotel lobby put us off and we did not realize that the restaurant was located through the bar. I decided to read the reviews. They were so positive they appeared fake. However, having eaten at the restaurant we know they are genuine. The pork chops were tender, moist and perfectly complimented by the apple puree and cider jus. The fish of the day initially sounded strange, but we were assured that the chef knew how to pair and combine ingredients and the pumpkin purée and almond butter sauce on the trout was brilliant. Our sides were a braised cabbage with sunflower pesto that was excellent and their famous hash brown potatoes elevates the hash brown to a whole new level. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about every dish and makes excellent suggestions for pairings of side dishes. The food was excellent and an amazing value - a fraction of New York prices. There was an excellent and varied selection of wines by the glass that were also very reasonably priced.

Must eat at Statham’s when you visit Kilkenny

We wandered into Statham’s after our visit to Kilkenny Castle. We were 11 people, with 5 kids, and they quickly found a place for us all to sit. Service was warm and friendly and efficient. The food stole the show. The pork salad was delicious and the wild mushroom toast made avocado toast red with envy. Must eat here when you visit Kilkenny.

The moment you walk in the door, the greeting the attention to customer care starts at that moment and continues all night. Well done to all the staff!!!! The food is so amazing. Everything to make you taste buds go crazy. This food is fresh and you know that with every mouthful, this is excellent food and definitely the best of food you will ever taste A must to visit. It's a place where you can order anything with your eyes closed, because everything, absolutely everything, is wonderfully tasty. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the waiters are super attentive, in our case we were served by Joseph, who was very helpful. The prices are very affordable because the quality is very, very good! We had a dinner with starters, main course and dessert, and there wasn't a dish that wasn't wonderful. It's definitely a must to make your visit to Kilkenny even more memorable! A quiet, great place to eat.

Great food. We ordered steak fries, bruschetta, fish and chips and pulled pork sandwich. Very quick and tasty. The staff are very covid regulations aware and we felt very safe. A brilliant visit, spur of the moment

Enjoyable neal and good bar

Well done!! Solid meal and some impressive high points. The sirloin is not our favorite cut of meat because it’s a little tough but the flavor was excellent. The onion rings and hashbrowns were done to perfection, however. And especially the truffle dip was just right and not overpowering. The trout was outstanding, and both the steak and the fish were made better due to the great Irish butter. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the best my husband had ever had, and he is a connoisseur from all over the world. We find the wine list so far and Irish restaurants to be limited, but there were enough decent selections at a nice price point. Also, the bar staff made excellent suggestions for both gin and whiskey.

Great breakfast with personal and efficient service in a calm dining room

Breakfast was a most enjoyable experience because the quality and standard of the food was very good and the table service provided by Michelle & her colleagues was exceptional. The food was freshly prepared and Michelle had initiative and took the time to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Also, the dining room was calm and therefore breakfast was a relaxing experience.

We booked last weekend for a going away dinner (soakage for a shnakey stag party; say nothing). I wasn’t complaining because I knew what Ken Harker, Peter Culverhouse and their team of chefs could put together from their time in Mount Juliet. Upon receiving the grub, I wasn’t wrong. Phenomenal stuff, from the ham and cheddar arancini with mustard aioli to the perfectly cooked and seasoned, very tender, rare steak. There were 9 of us at the dinner and 8 of us ordered steaks. Every single person within the group was delighted with the quality of the dinner. We were served and looked after for the entire evening by Michelle. All I can say is “give that woman a raise”. Her energy, wit and charm was so infectious that it instantly put me in the mood for pints. On a serious note, from the second I walked in, I was made to feel welcome. 10/10. Could not fault it if I tried, and I can’t wait to go back.

Fabulous experience, 100% recommended

The Pembroke is fantastic, right in the centre of Kilkenny. Perfect for night outs, shopping trips or just a relaxing break. I 100% recommend for all events. I went there for my hen do with 13 of my favourite ladies where we did cocktail making in a private bar area. All the staff were fun, sociable & welcoming. We then went upstairs where we enjoyed a delicious meal (everything was very tasty, great presentation and portions were perfect). The rooms are big, clean, quiet & bright, airy. It’s just perfect!

Stathams is a farm to table restaurant in Kilkenny serving very fresh and tasty food! Both my wife and I had the Buttermilk Chicken Schnitzel along with potatoes and carrots. One of our best meals so far in Ireland coupled with great service from the manager, waitstaff and bartender. Definitely worth making this one of your priorities for any meal of the day when in Kilkenny.
