Worth a visit.

On a recent trip to Kilkenny, we visited La Revista on a Tuesday evening and was so pleased that we returned again the following evening. The food was very good and the service was both friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the emphasis is on relaxation. We will definitely call again when we return to Kilkenny.

We never ate at this restaurant more than once in the past. Basically during the lockdown we started getting take away meals from here on a few occasions and all I can say we were never disappointed with the place at all and the lady we dealt with was always remarkable and friendly. We will as time goes by visit the restaurant however for now the takeaways are great as is the service thank you

Well worth a visit

Lovely restaurant, throughly enjoyed our visit last night. Bruschetta and wings to start, pasta main courses and salted caramel ice cream for desert were all first class. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, service was excellent and tables are nicely spread out which during this pandemic made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. Also very reasonably priced so nothing not to like. Highly recommended.

Fantastic!

Fantastic experience in La Rivista tonight. I am coeliac, and I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for their availability of delicious gluten free options throughout the menu. I had the chicken wings with hot sauce for starter, which was absolutely delicious. Then the grilled chicken with potato and Mediterranean style veg. Everything cooked to perfection, very hot and presented very well. I had the gluten free brownie for dessert, it was one of the best brownies I’ve ever had. The caramel ice cream, chantilly cream and caramel popcorn garnish were all amazing. Great dish. The service was also very pleasant and attentive, the restaurant itself was very clean and nicely lit. I also thought it was excellent value for money. Easily my best restaurant experience of 2020.

Disappointed.

Went for early family meal at 530pm on booking the table we were told that the table was needed again at 7 30 which we said was fine. We asked the manager what size kids pizzas were. We were told 6-7 ins. So we decided the younger children in our group may eat one each. On arrival they were 10ins so far too big. At 6 45pm our till bill was plonked on the table before we were even asked would we like a desert or coffee. How rude as we had the table for at least another half hour. The manageress was fussing around and not really paying attention to her customers. Would be slow to return.

Fantastic food & great value

The warm welcome, the excellent service, the great atmosphere and above all the fantastic food all combined to make our visit this evening a memorable experience. The menu is extensive with a great variety options - I had the Caesar salad to start, followed by Beef Lasagne with garlic ciabatta and Apple & Berry crumble. All were delicious. If you are visiting Kilkenny I would highly recommend a visit to La Revista!

Pleasant lunch

Not been before, so it was nice to try somewhere new for lunch. Their sourdough toasted sandwich and soup package was just the job, athough our gluten intolerant companion was jealous. There was pasta and dessert options for her needs.

A taste of Italy: recommend garlic bread, pasta and tiramisu

I was happy to secure a table for 6pm on a Saturday night on the June bank holiday weekend and we were pleased that there was a 3 course weekend set menu on for €33 per person. It was our first time here and we found staff pleasant and efficient without rushing you. To start, we picked a satisfying bottle of Sangiovese di Puglia at €32. My husband opted for the Garlic bread with cheese and nduja with a smidgin of fresh salad leaves perfectly dressed. I got a few tasty morsels of this and was highly impressed and regretted my choice of the smoked trout millefoglie with carasau bread and stracciatella cheese even though it was very tasty indeed. For mains, though I was tempted with the catch of the day oven baked cod, we both thought pasta the best bet in an Italian and we were not disappointed. I had the pasta with prawns and my husband had the chicken and chorizo pasta. The pasta brought me back to our meals in Italy and was as authentic as I have had. To finish I had the Baileys tiramisu. It was so light and delicious but to be honest I didn't get a hint of Baileys in it. My husband chose the Crunchie cheesecake with crunchie icecream which was creamy, dreamy, flavourful and decadent. This Italian has the portions and pacing of the meal down to a fine art in that by mains we thought we had space for dessert and by the end of dessert, we were at capacity. We both would highly recommend for quality of food, value and atmosphere and hope to return in the future once a babysitter is lined up. Grazie.

Little piece of heaven in Kilkenny City

Such a fabulous experience in this restaurant. We arrived as a group of 6 and we were greeted by very friendly staff who instantly made us feel at home and were so accommodating. The menu was limited but the quality of food was exceptional. We enjoyed starters, mains and dessert and we could not fault any part of it. The bruschetta, pizzas, brownie and cheesecake were particularly a hit among our group. Overall we had such a pleasant time here and it will definitely be on top of our list of places to eat when visiting Kilkenny again.

Extremely poor and slow service’

I extremely slow service, we had to wait nearly 40 minutes for each course. We’ were asked if we like ketchup, mayo or vinegar with our mains and chips, we did not get them nor could we get attention of staff. They seemed to be super understaffed! Once I did get there attention the burger was cold and they only brought ketchup’ and no salt, vinegar or mayo! When we brought our dissatisfaction to the staffs attention they nearly broke down at the table and apologised for the other staff member’ there were only two staff. Over all the food was okay and I don’t think I will go back neither will me friends! My friend ordered the parmesan chip’ btw… they only came out as normal chips with a sprinkle of dry Parmesan on top.

A lovely restaurant

First time eating in this restaurant. A big menu with plenty to offer at great value for 2 or 3 courses. Food portions big so definitely won't leave hungry. Food was delicious, all our family at the table was happy. I'm not a big wine fan but I enjoyed the house white. Attentive staff. Would definitely recommend and return.

Amazing food.

Myself, hubbie and 3 kids ate here this evening. Between us we had nachos, pizza, garlic bread, pasta arrabiata, chicken goujons, chips and beefburger. Hands down the best food we have had out. Authentic, fresh and simply delicious. Beautiful atmosphere and setting. Would highly recommend and excellent value too. Thank you for a lovely dining experience.

Very nice dinner, a pizza and a tagliatelle pasta with prawns. Pizza crust thin and crispy, nice amounts of meat and cheese on our version. Pasta well done, not over sauced. Cheesecake dessert is a longtime favorite on the menu - light and fluffy, more like a mousse. Friendly staff. Clearly a local favorite with a big takeaway business.

Superb Italian

We walked into La Rivista without a reservation on a Saturday night, but they made room for us. The food was amazing. We tried the Italian Nachos out of curiosity and are big fans. My husband and I tried a unique Veggie pizza and my sister and brother-in-law tried the Nduja pizza. They were both excellent. We enjoyed our drinks and food very much. They were patient and kind with us, with wonderful and fast service. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food

We were staying across the street and a bit tired and hungry our first night in Ireland so we thought we would give this place a try. What a lucky decision! The chicken pesto pizza was marvelous and my mouth is watering remembering it. The atmosphere was very inviting and the service was friendly and quick. I keep finding reasons to come back to Kilkenny and this restaurant is definitely on the list!
