Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I had no specific place in mind for dinner on our only night in Kilkenny when we stumbled upon The Grapevine. With wonderful tapas dishes and great wine at reasonable prices, we highly recommend it.

Myself and my fiancé went out for treat both work in hospitality (Chef & Duty Manager ) Beautiful decor and nice cosy tables which make you feel like on sunny holidays abroad and I can’t even express how great the food was! Everything so fresh...and nice presented and the waiter AUNDRE was superb ❤️ (sorry if I spelled it wrong) He had great knowledge about the the wines and menu! Very Impressed (We chose a Sicilian wine). We are new in Kilkenny and visited good few places but I will definitely say it is going to be our regular place to go out for a meal and wine. Prices are also very affordable! We can’t wait to bring out our friends with us ☺️🥘 Alex & Matt!More

Lovely food, good early bird choice, service great, central location. We recently visited for tapas. Offeredearly bird menu which included a glass of wine. Very good choice on menu, lovely food, good portions and staff were professional and attentive. I suggest this place is worth...a visit and we will revisit next time we are in KilkennyMore

This is a cosy Tapas Bar with an extensive menu. The Sea Bass was fabulous. The atmosphere and the staff were all great. This is definitely the place I will return to when I visit Kilkenny next time.

Looked dark and gloomy from the outside but the inside was warm and welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic - We wished we could take the chef home to cook for us every day!

What a hidden gem!!! This was the BEST meal my sister and I ate during our entire trip to Ireland. This restaurant is decorated beautifully and we loved the added touch of the crystal glasses! The staff was so friendly and attentive. The food was...INCREDIBLE. The Croquettes were OUT OF THIS WORLD, and the best I have ever had. The Spanish Tortilla tasted just like the ones I had in Spaini. The Empanadillas and Bruschettas were DELICIOUS and so was the Rioja. Overall this was such an amazing meal and it made not only our day trip to Kilkenny but our entire Ireland trip that much more amazing!!! Thank you for such a great and memorable meal!!!More

We walked past here and decided tapas would be a nice idea. Lots on the menu and we decided to order 5 dishes between us. Expensive for portion size but cooked really well. Lots of flavour. However the chicken skewers were really small. Nicely flavoured...but not enough. Chorizo was nice, the hummus was really flavoursome. We had a brownie which was more chocolate cake and not brownie like at all but overall a nice meal.More

Chose this place for my husband's 40s birthday and don't regret it. Wide selection of wine and food was lovely. Asked the waiter to bring one desert with a candle and they didn't let us down. Will be back soon!

Got down to Kilkenny for our weekend and decided to get a glass of wine with some bites. We ended up getting around five or six tapas. Stake skewers were amazing. Prawns with chorizo and mix of fish were very tasty as well. Wine variety...so large as we got help from one of the staff members in order to decide which one should we choose. Staff were friendly and jovial. Definitely come back again next time we get to Kilkenny.More

On appearance grapevine is a lovely restaurant with a great menu. Our party of 6 were seated at the very back wall of the restaurant and immediately noticed an awful smell. The entire restaurant was full so we had no choice but to stay put...and hoped it would waft away. The smell was so overwhelming that one of our friends pulled backed a curtain directly behind her to see if we could open a window, no window but instead a set of disused toilets clearly the culprit of the smell. We asked for more candles and the waitress came back with a bottle of glade, which was laughable. Every one of us felt sick at this point and we couldn’t stay for desert. The manager clearly didn’t want to speak to us and left a waiter to deal with us instead. The waiter tried to be understanding but they kept insisting it was just an old storage room. Really made me question the hygiene of the restaurant and for this reason we won’t be back.More

Not specifically, I don't think. I have always visited with adults. Tho, on one occasion there was a 14 y/o in the party, and she was well catered for, in that it's essentially a Tapas restaurant, therefore all the portions... More
