Nice local pub to chill

A busy pub with lots of locals, there was a long queue at the door at 8pm on a Saturday night. We were seated at 630pm at a nice private corner. We shared a Rocky double patty bacon cheese burger 22 Euros which comes salad and generous portion of fries. We also shared the baked Brie 10 Euros for 3 generous pieces and salad. The staff are friendly and attentive. They let us try the IPA before we decided to get the local craft beer. The food portion is generous and delicious. It’s 30 min walk away from where we stayed and quite a nice place to relax after a long day touring the area. We like the spaciousness and laid back atmosphere of the place.

Absolutely outstanding food and service. Popped in the Friday for a drink was quiet but music was brilliant. We stayed because of the staff. Booked in for dinner for Saturday and again met with the same friendly faces and remembered us and all of the staff were so polite and friendly. Food portions are huge and absolutely gorgeous would 100% recommend to anyone visiting tralee. Also very wheelchair accessible

Taste Curry in a vivid ambience

This evening I was searching for a Chinese restaurant in the Center of Tralee, which had been shown in my Maps-App, although no langer existent. Instead I faced the „Brogues Inn“ and told myself to give it a try. After entering I waited no longer than five minutes to be seated at the bar. While reading the menu I noticed that inns‘ whole team was very agile and took care of all the guests‘ requests. The chicken curry I ordered, was delicious and there was plenty of it. Last but not least the seasoned waiter behind the counter saw to it that my glass was filled regularly. Thumbs up to the „Brogues inn“-team and the tip had been earned well.

DISGUSTING ENCOUNTER START TO FINISH

I Recently visited this establishment alongside a small group of friends. We have previously heard mixed reviews about this place and we should have know better… Upon arrival we were greeted with a frosty welcome by a slender middle-aged woman wearing glasses (who we were later informed is the owner). Whilst my friends and I were queuing up to order another member of our party who was opting out of eating got herself a table and waited to be joined by the rest of us. I was first in line to order, when I reached the till I was met by a blonde thin woman who was constantly cursing and being very abrasive towards other staff and customers. I kindly asked what was the soup of the day and she scoffed and said “can you not read hun?” in a very condescending manner and gave me a stern look. I was completely taken aback. I have never in all my years been met with such disrespect in an environment where good customer service is required. I paid and made my way to the table where my friend was seated. I told her about my displeasure and she replied saying she had a similar experience… She recalled a young blonde unkempt waitress treated her with the same rudeness as I had met just moments before. It seems as though this rudeness is an underlying theme throughout the restaurant. My friend who had decided not to eat politely asked this young waitress if she could clear off the slop that was left both on and beneath the table. The young waitress abruptly said “do not sit on a table when you can clearly see that it it dirty.” We then had to wait for a long period of time for the table to be cleared that our food had arrived and we were forced to eat at a dirty table. It was perfectly evident that this waitress was avoiding our table out of spite as we saw her strolling around the restaurant conversing with different tables and going behind the bar laughing and joking with an older gentleman instead of doing any real work. To top it all off, my friend who had decided not to eat went up to pour herself a small glass of water with cordial and was quickly informed that water was only allowed for paying customers and was refused the right to a glass of water. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in my life in regards to customer service. Its so sad to see a once thriving business descend into such disrepair. We had previously heard about this decline in service but to experience it first hand completely shocked me. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!!!!!!!

Horrific experience

My daughter and I went into the restaurant at about 11.30 and got a coffee and a coke while waiting on my son's and husband to join us. We couldn't get served at the bar as there was no one staffing it so I went into the food court to order the drinks and was practically jumped on by a thin blonde manageress with glasses who wanted to know where we ordering food. I told her we were waiting for family and took the drinks back to the table. A few minutes later my sons and husband arrived and I asked my husband to go up and order for himself, my daughter and myself. The boys were doing their own order. Firstly my eldest son was messing with his father saying I'm going to skip you in the queue, the restarts not busy and it was obvious they were together. The manageress snapped at my 30 year old son "get back in line". My husband then went to pay for our order and was told your card was rejected in a loud voice in front of other customers. This puzzled him as he had a notification from the credit union that the bill was paid which then bounced back. Instead of admitting that their machine was at fault and despite the fact he was offering to pay in cash she just kept repeating your card was rejected. At this point my husband was very upset and came in to tell us he was leaving. She followed him in and shouted at ne "I'm not putting up with that rudeness, I've food put up there that's not paid for" I addressed what had happened and she admitted their card machine was faulty but again reiterated "I'm not putting up with rudeness" We sent one of my sons out to see was my husband alright and were waiting for my eldest to eat his cake and coffee which he had paid for to leave and she kept walking in and out scowling and in my opinion looking for an argument. Two of my children work in hospitality as has my husband and were horrified at the rudeness to a customer, my daughter wanted to speak to a manager but my son informed us she is one of the owners and is known for abusing customers and staff. They have a very high turnover of staff. We left at this point and went to a nearby restaurant where we were talking about the incident to staff and ygey had nothing good to say about her. My husband then informed me that while he was at the counter an elderly gentleman came up to get a takeaway coffee and was told to "get to the back of the queue, you'll have to wait" despite people in front getting hot food. She then called away the chef from serving food to make a coffee leaving a queue waiting. This woman is an absolute disgrace. The food is tasty but overpriced and the service is deplorable. We are local and will never set foot in there again. I will also be telling my experience to anyone and everyone that cares to listen. Disgusting behaviour!

So terribly rude

Went in for lunch with my sister, had something from the hot carvery counter,my sister ordered a wrap with a pot of tea , she offered me some tea from her pot, I went to the counter to ask for a empty tea cup,but they refused to give me one , said I would have to buy a pot of tea , and that came from one younger server and the owner . I explained that there was some left in the pot that my sister bought , but it did no good! I have never seen the likes of it before, the vegetables were very bland , no flavour, we will never go in there again.

Food temperature in carvery

Very disappointed with the lunch. Got the roast beef dinner and was hoping that a waitperson would pass by so I could ask them to put the dinner in the microwave for a couple of minutes as dinner was not even luck warm. Taste was there but stone cold and with a coffee attached to the meal which cost about €22.00 not sure I’ll take a chance again. Disappointed

Nice waitresses, rude manager

I visited here with my boyfriend for the first time on Sunday while we were on a weekend trip away with some friends. It was not busy when we arrived, however we sat at our table and were (eventually) greeted and told we couldn't order at the table, which was fine. We went over to order, our breakfast came after about 15-20 minutes which we were satisfied with. A friendly waitress with dark hair came with our food and apologised for the delay. However, when our friends arrived later and joined the table next to us, another woman wearing glasses (appeared to be a manager) came up to them after about 15 minutes and told them that they could not stay if they did not order anything. She did this, instead of asking if they would like to order food. At this point, one of them had already gone in and ordered food to the table. I felt this comment was rude and unnecessary, especially after we had already spent money on two meals ourselves. After our understandably displeased reaction she told us that the table was booked for 1pm, which she failed to mention earlier and did not offer us one of the many other empty tables that were around us as an alternative. Myself, my boyfriend and everyone else at that table are hospitality workers and we would never have dared speak to a customer this way.

Rip-off / Cheeky Staff

I visited this establishment today with my grand-daughter. I ordered a simple chicken sandwich on white bread (untoasted), plus a cup of coffee (Americana). My grand-daughter ordered a chicken wrap and a small cup cake (no drink). I was charged €24.30 for this and when I questioned the cost the cheeky female cashier said “you know that things have got a lot more expensive, my man”. What an ignorant patronising way to an address a man in his seventies !!! My advice to everybody is to steer clear of this rip-off establishment.

Attitude needs to improve

From the moment our group stepped inside the door we were made feel like we were a nuisance waiting to be seated. An unwelcoming man ,no greeting whatsoever and it did occur to me what a poor way to greet customers .When we ordered for our eleven year old daughter we were met with an attempt at smart assed humour doubting the childs age. A very poor portion size even though tasty it was completely over priced.We certainly will not return as there are places nearby which have better staff and better value

Makes a change

Ten days touring Ireland so far and everywhere we have visited / eat at has been so welcoming and had time to greet us on arrival. With a little banter thrown in. So it was a nice change to call in to Brouge’s for a meal and be treated differently. May I suggest the strapline ‘Haste Not Taste’ for the establishment? The (male) staff have no time to say hello, they just ask in a rushed manner ‘what do you want?’ scribble down the answer and rush off. One tip, don’t add any more salt to your meals. If you are looking for an enjoyable, warm, welcoming Irish experience try somewhere else. Portions are big though.

Poor Service

I visited this premises lunch time on Wednesday and i was left somewhat left down. My friend and I wanted a sandwich as we have not seen each other in a while so we decided somewhere central and she suggested the brogue. We waited by the sandwich counter as the girl behind counter texted on her phone facing the wall obviously hiding her phone it took a chef to tell her she had customers waiting to order. It felt like we had interrupted her and she rushed us ordering . Shes was not helpful and was very rude and didnt appear to even want to take our order when we went to the till to pay we were met with another lady on the phone she told us two minutes. We eventually paid and sat down only for our sandwiches to come out cold cheese not melted and barely toasted. We were totally left down.

Let down and rude Staff

My family and I were in Tralee and decided to go for a bite to eat. We decided on Kirby’s Brogue Inn. It was around half 2 I just wanted a sandwich or a wrap so I waited by the sandwich counter to order. The woman behind the counter left off a roar and told me she was up the walls and to wait now I didn’t mind waiting but then I noticed the chopping boards were being used for everything raw prawns and then cooked ham on it. I told her I’d have a look further above she muffled under her breath and threw her eyes up at me. When I went up to the hot counter two girls were there and they were more interested in talking to each other and laughing than serving me it wasn’t overly busy. So I asked what was on the menu today and could I see they both looked at each other and laughed. I could not get over the attitudes and noise levels. There didn’t seem to be anyone in charge and instead I was left standing there I went out to my family and we decided to find somewhere else more friendly and accommodating and we did. Will not be back

We arrived about 7.30 and we're greeted at the door and shown to a table by a guy with no personality who constantly ran about looking very busy. After the meal when we were just sitting finishing drinks he kept looking then wiping our table and asking if we were finished. We weren't. The food. I had lasagne which looked and tasted like it was precooked then reheated. It was tasteless. I don't seriously think I eill be back

Had to go to McDonald’s after dinner here

Visited for dinner tonight and was extremely disappointed. Ordered drinks once we sat down which did not arrive for 10 minutes until our waiter did. Once our food came I did not like the sauce it came with, after trying for 15 to 20 minutes to bring this to a staff members attention and not being able to I gave up as my food was now cold. Not once during the time my partner was eating or for the next 40 minutes after he finished did someone approach us to ask how things where or even to order dessert or another drink. In the end we had to call a girl over for dessert menus who still did not ask us how our meal was as she took my untouched plate away. In the end we left with frustration after the bar man was extremely abrupt.
