Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Despite the name this place does excellent none seafood. However, we both have brilliant seafood meals on the night we visited - real scampi and an excellent Monkfish stew along with some very good wine. The place was packed but the service friendly and quick....Could not fault it - one of the best meals we had on the west coast.More

Went for our anniversary dinner. Had a lovely table, ordered starters, mains and wine. Food was delivered promptly and with a smile. Really enjoyed everything that we ordered. Only negative was, we were given our bill without asking for it while I still had a...glass of wine in front of me and we had only been sat down for 55 mins in total. Thought it was very rude and felt we had to pay and leave. . .So we did.More

This is our new FAVOURITE place! I can’t begin to tell you how fabulous our experience has been. We walked in the front door past a terrace of outdoor furniture adorned with hand painted rocks to winkle-man tiles within the corridor, running into the bar...with antique white panelled walls, marrying with old style navy patterned carpets. The tone was set and the atmosphere was that of warmth and welcome, transporting you back in time. A lovely girl approached us, all the while expertly serving another couple their food to ask our names and suggested we order a drink at the bar and our table would be ready in a moment. The atmosphere was lovely with happy tables of twos and fours and larger groups celebrating birthdays etc. I had the beautiful baked oysters for starters while my husband had the very impressive prawn cocktail. They were both delicious and the main courses were just as gorgeous. We had a lovely evening and met and chatted with a lovely girl with blonde curly hair whose name I didn’t catch, apologies, as she was great. We also met with Jim and Aine and chatted as a gentleman customer tinkled and sang away on the piano to his party. Mad the entire restaurant! The whole experience was lovely in a time of hustle and bustle and we would recommend to anyone who is looking for a traditional, friendly and welcoming evening with top class food to visit the Oyster Tavern!More

Busy little place. When we walked in, we almost turned around because it was a little chaotic. However the staff has it down to a science. Quick and friendly service. Food and drinks didn’t take long at all. Everything was very good.

I had a la carte menu on Sunday afternoon. Absolutely delicious mussels for starter and scallops for main, with Eton Mess for dessert. Mouthwatering, perfectly cooked, plenty of accompaniments and sides. Staff were just delightful - welcoming, professional, attentive, and even suggested a dish that...wasn't on the menu! Breathtaking view of mountain and water from the window. Excellent value for money also. Well worth the trip. I would give 6 stars if I could.More

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Oyster, the food was incredible and delicious, I had the mussels as a starter and the monkfish as a main and couldn’t recommend them enough. The servers Regina and Susan, along with the owners Jim and Áine, were...beyond attentive and patient, they provided exceptional service, we couldn’t believe how fast and hot the food came out of the kitchen. They even had some live music on and the atmosphere was warm and inviting adorned with nautically themed decor. It was a great evening all around and if you ever find yourselves in Tralee, please do go here as we had a brilliant time.More

Stopped here with my wife and daughter for Sunday lunch last weekend randomly on a drive, it was very busy so that was a good sign... I was worried because we didn't have a booking that we wouldn't be able to get a place but...they were so friendly and worked something out for us. Got the roast lamb dinner and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD... i would have ordered everything on that specials board if I could... every plate that came out looked better than the last... and they were so nice to us all the way through and the staff even found time to say hi and play a little with our daughter. Great Guinness too I was buzzing after the experience and cant wait to go backMore
