Excellent restaurant

My family and I got takeaway from this restaurant. We were so impressed by the service from start to finish. We live 30minutes away and on our way to collect the food we were asked what sides we wanted with each meal. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Very generous portions. It was a pleasure to enjoy a beautiful meal from home.

Birthday celebrations

Excellent service. Went on a quite Tuesday evening to celebrate a birthday. The chef made up a customised plate and candle to top it all off there was 2 waitresses to sing. Great night over all. Very reasonably priced and located very close to good parking, being very central in Tralee would recommend to any one.

Absolutely amazing!

This was our first time eating here myself my parents and my 2 year old daughter. Firstly the staff were so lovely! Very welcoming and friendly, and they were so engaging with my daughter at the table which was lovely to see. The atmosphere and general look of the place was delightful very relaxing and enjoyable even as the restaurant filled up. We asked for my daughters food to be brought first and they did so with big smiles and she absolutely loved it. We had a mix of dishes from fish and bruschetta starters, pizza, pasta and chicken dishes, and I can honestly say every dish was perfectly presented and absolutely delicious! The wine was gorgeous aswell. Overall our experience was amazing and we will definitely be back next time were in town :)

I dont normally write a bad review but on this occasion I had to! We waited for over an hour for our food. When it arrived my friends duck was cold. The potatoes that duck was on were even colder. My carbonara was ok but when I asked for a little more sauce I was given pepper sauce that would be used with steak. We did complain and were not charged fir the wine. We didn't even finish the wine or the food. We took food with us to give to our dogs. Would not recommend this Italian. It was over crowded, they are taking in too many booking and then can't cope in the kitchen. I spoke to another group of 6 they also said they were waiting over 65 mins for their food. Very disappointing experience. I would avoid at all costs

Sorry to hear about your experience with us but thank you for your feedback, which we always welcome. We are a consistently busy restaurant that is popular in Tralee and with our customers. We thank you for mentioning your concerns to your server at the time, and as you state we did put measures in place to compensate you for the food that was not to your liking. We cannot physically take in any more customers than we have tables for, and as we have been fully booked recently, we always try and accommodate anyone who is looking for a table at a later time. That our restaurant remains busy and popular is testament to the consistently good reputation, service and quality of our food.

Take your time, we'll clean up around you, no hurry.

We booked a table for 9.00pm. No hurry, we were told. Relax, take your time, you won't be rushed. WRONG! We arrived and were seated. Restaurant was not full, staff very friendly. Got our menus and ordered fairly promptly as we were advised to check out the menus online and we knew what we wanted. Being Italian, we ordered a nice bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso. When we got our starter the restaurant was almost empty. By the time we had finished our starter, the place was empty. We were beginning to feel we were in the way. As soon as we got our main course and the kitchen staff were busy shutting everything down, the floor staff had already cleaned the restaurant. Now we were in the way. We asked for French Coffee instead of desert but kitchen was closed and they couldn't whip the cream. Food was good but we were squeezed in at he end just to get our money. Eat early in the restaurant or don't eat there at all. Very disappointed.

Brilliant evening

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, but I had heard very good things about it. The establishment is run by a couple from Albania, Ennis and Val. The service was friendly and efficient, while the food was beyond excellent. We had the early bird option, which had many varied choices of mostly Italian type foods. All in all excellent value and a very pleasant experience. I will be back.

Delicious Food

Being new to Tralee I was looking for good places to eat, since last summer I can't stop going back to this restaurant. With its kind and accomodation staff and consistently great seafood pizzas and pastas, I've found myself jogging by to order food for when I get home🙂. I still have lots to try on the menu.

Food really good

Made a booking for 3 adults and a child. Was an early sitting and was advised that the table needed be back for 6pm so booked for 430pm instead of 5pm which was fine as we had a small kid. Service was very good and waitress was very friendly. Food was excellent. Was surprised that there was no kids menu or that we weren't told that when booking. When got the menus asked about a kids menu and was told could do chicken nuggets and chips or pizza and chips went for the nuggets. Again was surprised when what came out was a breaded breast chicken and chips for a 2 year old. Just really not whet we wanted and thought it was expensive for a 2 year old (13euro) so i suppose what I would say is lovely restaurant but not suitable for small kids

We ordered delivery and were subsequently told they were not offering delivery and it had to be collected. The staff were lovely when dealing with them but the food was unbelievably substandard. The pasta was dry and not fully cooked. I really could have cooked better with what was in my press. The pizza tasted better the following day than it did fresh but we added a lot to it in terms of sauce and toppings. I hate to leave a bad review but I will never order from here again. Just very disappointed.

Best Bruschetta I've Ever Had

Fantastic restaurant. Service was perfect, food was delectable (I can quote my girlfriend calling the bruschetta the "best bruschetta I've ever had"), price was impressively low for such a high quality experience, and my favourite part of the night was how understanding the staff were of the requirements of a vegan diet. The people at Il Pomo Doro know what they're doing and they care about their clients - check them out!

A magical dining experience

Recently I had the pleasure of having one of the best meals I've ever had , the atmosphere was great ,the staff were very personable and paid attention to every detail of our night. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant was how clean everything was it was absolutely immaculate and that's a hard thi g to maintain when your busy serving people , We started off with a beautiful bottle of red wine that was very reasonably priced . The appetisers were more like a main course , the portions were fantastic and the quality was just as good.i had eaten there before but for some reason I'd never gone for their Duck dish, well let me tell you I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The only word that describes it was incredible, it was cooked to perfection and served with a variety of fruit toppings and a great selection of sides. It was one of the best meals I've in my life. If you are looking for a culinary treat trust me it dosent get much better than this. As a dining g experience it was nothing short of perfect and Incredible value for money.

Fresh and tasty, great value

I dined in Il Pomo Doro on a very busy night, and it was understandably a little slow at first, but when the food arrived it was excellent; a perfect Caesar Salad with freshly cooked bacon lardons, followed by a Risotto di mare with prawns, squid and mussels, again all very fresh and tasty. Dinner for one at €24 excluding tip, is great value these days. And the service was great too. Highly recommended.

Anniversary takeaway

We just had the most fabulous anniversary meal from Il Pomo D'Oro. Even though it was a takeaway it was a delicious meal and made our anniversary evening at home special. We had a shared starter, 2 mains and 2 absolutely mouthwatering special Tiramisu. All for an amazing 41.40 euro. Lesson learnt...we won't wait for a special occasion for our next meal here, we will be back very soon.

My favourite restaurant in Tralee

The natural, casual but classy approach is what I value the most in this restaurant. The food is always tasty, place is cosy and staff are lovely naturally chatty but let you eat your meal and have an uninterrupted conversation with whoever you came here with. This was my experience every time over many visits. I highly recommend this restaurant, you can't go wrong here.
