My friends and I had an amazing pub dinner. My steak was cooked to perfection, my mashed potatoes were delicious, and the bar itself is cozy and inviting. Our server, Ann-Marie, was excellent. She was pleasant, attentive, and very enjoyable to speak to. Great stop!

We popped in here for a late lunch and it was one of my favorite meals in Ireland. The "ham and cheese toasty" was fabulous and the salad it came with was fresh and delicious. The chips (french fries) were cooked perfectly, and they also brought us "crisps" (potato chips) and we were surprised how much we liked the flavor. Ann-Maire's service was prompt and friendly. It was a perfect lunch spot!

Stopped in for some soup and coffee while shopping downtown Killarney. Everything was excellent! The seafood chowder, tomato soup, flat white and Ann-Maire’s service were all top shelf. Give it a go when you’re in town!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Delighted to hear all was to your satisfaction. Our seafood chowder is one of the most popular items on the menu, so glad you enjoyed it.

The service was very bad here. We were waiting at least 25 minutes for our food which was a combination of toasted sandwich and soup. Something very simple. At first we had to call them to take our order as nobody was coming to us. The place wasn’t busy either. We then asked for some alcoholic drinks and were waiting and had to ask for them a second time. When we were brought our drinks we were asked if we were over 18 even though the drinks were about to be given. We were all between 28/32 and I would say the girl herself who asked was hardly 18 herself. We eventually received the food. At least 20 minutes later and we were about to walk out. Our toasted sandwich didn’t even look toasted. I was actually almost sending it back before realising it was a slightly bit toasted. I was so hungry and we were so sick of waiting that I just decided to keep it. One person didn’t even get it toasted after asking for it and she was also so over the whole experience she just decided to eat it. I think it’s the worst experience eating out I have almost ever had. Would no recommend it.

Dear Passport41582530249,
I'm truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at O'Donoghue Public House. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and I want to extend my sincerest apologies for the subpar service and food quality you encountered during your visit.
It's unacceptable that you had to wait so long for your food and drinks, especially when the bar wasn't busy. I completely understand how frustrating it must have been to not receive the level of service and attention you expected.
As for the quality of the toasted sandwiches, I'm truly sorry that they did not meet your expectations. Inconsistent preparation and presentation are not reflective of our standards, and I'm deeply disappointed that we fell short in this regard.
Please know that your feedback has been taken to heart, and we are actively addressing the issues you've raised with our team to ensure that improvements are made. We value your custom and hope for the opportunity to make it up to you in the future. We visited Thursday 11th July and it just seemed a total jack of communication between those serving / taking orders.
Ordered drinks at the same time as ordering meal however ended up going to the bar to get drinks myself. Wrong drinks brought to the table whilst I was at the bar. Server wandering around with the meals before he was directed to our table.
Asked for bill only to be asked what we’d had, however when bill came it had drinks on which we hadn’t had (paid separately whilst at the bar). Finally got the correct bill. Unfortunately found the waitress/ waiters not good on this occasion but good was good.
We had been in earlier in week and service was good but totally different staff on that night.

I visited O’Donoghue Public House Friday with high hopes for a lively evening but left feeling completely let down. The bar was empty and understaffed, which set the tone for the entire night. The lack crowd, the atmosphere lacked any real energy, partly due to the uninspiring music selection that seemed more suitable for a quiet Tuesday evening than a bustling Friday night.
The service and bouncer was particularly disappointing. It took over 30 minutes to get our first round of drinks, and when they did arrive, they were far from impressive. My whiskey tasted like it was strained through an old sock, and my friend’s craft beer was served lukewarm. When we brought this up with our server, the response was dismissive, leaving us feeling unvalued as customers.
Moreover, the cleanliness of the venue was not up to standard. We noticed several dirty dishes piled up at the end of the bar, and our table was sticky and unclean when we first sat down. The restrooms were also in poor condition, with supplies running low and floors that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in hours.
Overall, my experience at O’Donoghue Public House was far from what I had expected. Given the many other better-managed bars in the area, I cannot recommend this place for a Friday night—or any night, for that matter.

Just after eating at this pub. Ordered the rib eye steak for my husband and myself. Received cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the quality of the steak was not good. There were a lot of parts that were very chewy and we had to remove from our mouths . This was very visible to the staff member who collected our empty plates . We informed her of this when she asked if everything was to our satisfaction. We also said we were allowed one side portion each which was very nice but pretty slack for two people . When we asked for the bill , the waitress said she hadn’t said our complaint to her manager as he was at a meeting , this is at 5:30 on a Sunday !! Poor customer service . We were not looking to not pay for our meal but with no satisfaction from our waitress paid €58 for two steaks to which we were not 100% happy with . Two drinks onto our bill , €71 for one main course , one drink each! We have absolutely no problem paying for food we have thoroughly enjoyed and this was the first time ever making a complaint about the food we had received . I was made feel like crap for saying what I thought of our food . Would not recommend this place for these reasons .

Was excited to eat here based on the menu. Came in previously but the place was rammed! Came back the next day early and was seated straight away. The staff were very friendly and polite. Ordered the mixed grill. The steak was tiny and tasteless, the lamb was bone and gristle, the liver was the most potent liver I have ever eaten, the black pudding was mediocre, the sausage /bacon and egg were as you would expect. No potatoes or chips were included just a slice of cold toast. For €25 this is a joke.

My husband and I went here last Sunday for dinner, We ordered our food and waited almost an hour for our food. We were halfway on our second drink, when my husband asked waitress if our food would be long more. We were told it would be with us very soon. Our food arrived and my husband's meal was lukewarm, but unfortunately I had to return mine as it was cold. Waitress returned to tell me that chef was cooking a fresh dish for me. Yes my meal returned and the chicken was piping hot, but unfortunately carrots were black and mash potato was just lukewarm. NOBODY came to check on us at any stage, or ask if our food was ok. We just ate and left as we were almost 2 hours in here for just a main course. To add to this bar manager was serving the table next to us, he seated us but never turned around once to ask if we were ok whilst waiting on food or my returned meal. We saw that the table next to us, 4 out of 5 of them were served and abt 20 mins after 4 were served, the lady's meal came out with our food. No apology regarding the delay in our food or even when my food was returned. I had won a voucher at the local bazzar, and am so sorry that I did not use it to treat myself in the plaza spa. We are locals and will definately not return.

Nice pub to visit if you just fancy a drink, but don’t bother eating there. It’s tourist trap ‘food’ thats simply a waste of money. There are some nice places to eat in Killarney so don’t waste your money at this place.
Seafood chowder - nice enough source but not much else in it other than source. The 2 tiny bits of bread that comes with it were pathetic and dry.
Fish & chips - processed fish small portion that you wouldn’t even buy from your local freezer centre to cook at home.
Toasted sandwich that wasn’t toasted and probably the most un-inspirational toastie that I’ve ever seen….

Right from the time we sat down, Ann-Maire our absolutely wonderful waitress/bar girl, was totally outstanding. Her friendly, happy exuberant energy just resonated, making us welcome, comfortable and our evening an absolute pleasure. Her food and wine recommendations were exceptional and right on point.
Ann-Maire you made our night, and our stay in Killarney, you’re the best!!!! We will be back just to see your smiling face.
To anyone reading this, ask for Ann-Maire when you are in ODonoghues, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited on what was Day 1 of a 5 night long weekend for our daughters wedding and it really set the standard for the rest of the weekend! 35 of us met for food and drinks (you have got to try the Shepherds Pie) and stayed for the service and fantastic live music. Bryan Murphy was fantastic and really got the pub rocking, with a great range of music from traditional to 'up to date' hits. For many of our friends and family it was their first time in Ireland and they loved the music and atmosphere, they are still talking about it 6 weeks later. Thank you to everyone for being so welcoming

Both my self and my wife had a fabulous meal in O’Donoghue’s, served by Mark who was very knowledgeable and not afraid to recommend there Burger which I had and my wife had the Fish & Chips both of which were of a very high standard! Also when we were about to leave a 2 piece band were starting up so we said we would get one for the road ….. Famous last words 😄 ….the band were brilliant and got the crowd going… definitely worthy of 5 stars and we are already making plans to return.
Well done O’Donoghue’s 👏

There were four of us dining on a Wednesday night and the service and food was exceptional. The drinks were well bartended and reasonably strong… always a plus. The live music was good and the volume wasn’t ear shattering, also a plus. We dropped back by for drinks each night of our stay. I’d certainly drop back in for food or drinks anytime.
Thank you!
