Visited in October 2021. Great seafood, really excellent service, and spotless washroom. If only other restaurants could take a look at the hygiene practices here.

Great meal and experience. Fish & chips were so fresh and tasty. Accompanying Killarney Lager was great too. Overall it felt very covid secure too.

Mad Monk is a fish restaurant in Killarney town. We booked a table for two last Friday. A beautiful smell of freshly cooked food hits the the moment you enter this place. We had fish cakes to start. They were delicious. For main course we...had mussels and sizzling hot prawns. Again they were out of this world. Finished with Irish coffee. 90 euro total bill. Atmosphere here was so good. Thanks to our wonderful host. Can't wait to return.More

Me and my girlfriend came here on the 24th of September. I don’t know where to begin from the friendly greeting at the door and the guy explained everything in relation to COVID regulations before guiding us to our seats. My girlfriend ordered the seared...scallops with cauliflower purée and Parma ham and I ordered the crab bake with chorizo and sourdough, stunning with the house Sauvignon Blanc. The mains she had sea bass with mussel and shrimp risotto and I the hake with lyonnaise potatoes, carrot purée and pesto i really struggled to find a fault with anything from this experience and then the desserts of crumble and baileys cheesecake, everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect everything was seasoned and fresh tasting. The server zlatko was amazing with recommendations and had a amazing knowledge of every dish and was so accommodating with his work funny but professional would honestly rate higher if I could. Thanks for the amazing experience well done and keep up the good work.More

We visited here twice on our stay in Killarney. First for lunch and then again for dinner as it was so good. The seafood is deliciously fresh and comes from their own fishing boats. The Dingle Bay crab claws are utterly scrumptious, together with the...sizzling Atlantic prawns. We also tried the crab bake which was again delicious and so very fresh. The staff are so friendly and helpful and even saved me a portion of crab claws on our return visit as I’d enjoyed them so much. If you like Guinness try the Killarney Stout - it’s so good! Would highly recommend and will definitely return on our next visit.More

We arrived to be told they didn't have our booking, I called a good 2 weeks prior arrival. I was able to show on my phone I called the restaurant. its not exactly my fault you don't provide confirmation emails/texts. We were continued to have...to stand there and be told i don't know what im going to be with ye as she searched through the book to see if we have somehow been booked in for an alternative date. surly if that happened that is not our fault. we were told i suppose ill have to risk giving ye a table yet i need it back in an hour. we tried to let this not effect our night away and enjoy the meal, alot of options on the menu where not available which was disappointing also. what we did order was nice I had crab to start they were ok not the best of eaten. my husband had fish cakes they were great they listed about 5 items not available Ordered scampi , not available also but monkfish scampi instead this was good but not great. should have just gone for regular fish and chips perhaps My seabass was tasty good size our waiter that served us was very nice and had a chat with us After 1 hour and 15 we left and there was about 10 free tables so I guess she didn't need our table after all?More

My girlfriend and I got a reservation here for a Sunday night and it was good to see that the restaurant was probably 90% full. I had the scallops and my girlfriend had the spicy prawns. Both delicious but my scallops could have been a...touch warmer. For mains I had the hake and my girlfriend had monkfish scampi, both delicious, and we shared a portion of onion rings with fries which were slightly undercooked. For dessert we were both so full but we had enjoyed our meal so much that we had to try dessert so we shared a lemon posset which was beautiful and a perfect end to our meal. We also had delicious Irish coffees each. All in all a fantastic experience and big compliments to our waiter James for his service, wine suggestions and recommendations for bars to visit in Killarney for the rest of our stay.More
