Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great food right in the middle of town. Had the full Irish which was excellent. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. Make sure you sit upstairs to see a full view of the town.

We spent a couple days in Killarney and Murphy Brownes got our attention while walking thru town and shopping. Reviews were good, so we decided to give it a try. We are sure glad we did. We were hungry early and arrived for dinner and...got a seat immediately. We got great service and had drinks and some seafood chowders soon enough, We had some chicken wings as an appetizer to go with the drinks, then moved on to our main courses (sea bass and lamb shank). The food and service was excellent. We closed out with some americanos and left very pleased with our dinner. Over the course of our visit the restaurant was full capacity so we were glad we were lucky enough to have gotten there and got a table. We highly recommend this restaurant.More

Absolutely amazing food. But it has so much more. The second we walked in the door we felt at home. Service so relaxed and although it was busy is was seamless. Our waitress was charming and had a good understanding of the menu. I had...the lamb shank which was best I ever had, my wife the seabass. Both blown away. Shared the goats cheese starter with a glass melbec which was recommend by one of our servers. . Together went beautifully. Wonderful dining experience. Can't wait to return.More

Only our second visit here and our first in almost 3 years. Had made a reservation and was lucky I did because it was very busy here. I had the duck spring rolls to start and my wife had bruschetta. The spring rolls were divine...with the sweet chilli sauce. My wife said the bruschetta was different in a good way which is a compliment. For mains I had the beer battered fish and chips which rarely disappoints but this was exceptional. The tartare sauce was heavenly. My wife had a medium cooked fillet and she informs me it was in the top 5 steaks she ever eaten and that’s a too 5 that’s hard to break into. We both had a glass of white (sav) and it was just how we like it. Without doubt the best food we’ve eaten this year. Can honestly say we will come back here every time we visit Killarney. Just wish it wasn’t a 3 hour drive away.More

What a fantastic ambiance, fantastic food & great service. From the moment we walked in the staff were so friendly, the restaurant is small cosy & very relaxing. The menu reads lovely but we went for the specials on the waiter’s recommendation which were fantastic.

This is a cosy, centrally located restaurant run by two lovely foodies who offer a warm welcome and excellent service. I can recommend the soup of the day or the seafood chowder. The latter is packed with large pieces of salmon, cod, haddock and hake...and tastes great. The steaks are delicious and are served with either a pepper sauce which has a good "bite" or garlic butter. The deep, multi-layered lasagne is also excellent. They have a small but appropriate range of good tasting wines. We went back a couple of days after our first experience and were not disappointed. Equally good the second time around.More

Loved our booking at Murphy Brownes for dinner for two, a lovely welcome, great service and chat. We had a quieter table and loved that too. Beautiful steaks from the butcher next door, a great way to do business locally. Thank you.
