Food was excellent, Service was great. We had a very large table for the 6 of us in these difficult times. Would recommend the Black Sole. The food was a little bit on the pricey side however the entry level wines were not too expensive considering some restaurants now really charge a lot for the house wines.

A Monday night in Killarney and it was fairly quiet on the streets, the head concierge in the Park said Foleys would not disappoint and he was correct. Fresh food, simply cooked and the wine list was excellent. Reasonably priced with efficient service. It’s good and we will be back.

Let me start with the staff who were extremely helpful and friendly. My wife following a recent illness has a very poor appetite and an offer of half portion of scallops mornay was immediately made. As it specialises in fish & steak I opted for the fillet steak which was cooked exactly as I asked and was both large and tasty. Veg and chips were well cooked so overall after French onion soup starter the only downside was that I had no room for a dessert. The crowd of drinkers in the bar nearly put us off but once inside the white linen tablecloths and good quality cutlery and glasses suggested it was going to be a good choice and we do not hesitate to recommend the restaurant.

We were asked to wait for nearly 40 minutes - generally, given Covid and all, it is understandable, but it would have been nice to be offered a drink/glass of water in the meantime. regarding the food: the menu looks nice but what comes out of the kitchen is not great. Scallops were seriously gritty and undercooked, should have been seared properly but instead they were just chewy. The monkfish was terribly overcooked, hard to cut with a knife. I left most of it on the plate. The portion sizes are huge, which appeals to some people, but it actually distracts them from the fact that the food is just not great. It seems that this is a restaurant with huge ambitions and great potential but the preparation, cooking and taste are way off. Staff were rather uninterested in diners' experince but yet kept asking the automatic questions if everything was ok, despite most of the food remaining on the plate . It is horrendously overpriced and definitely not worth the money.

Visited here as a "treat"for my birthday. Well it was disgusting. The vegetable soup tasted terrible and was so watery. I had fillet steak which I asked for it to be cooked medium. It came out burnt, a really ruined cut of steak . The accompanying veg consisted of carrot/parsnip puree 🤮and sugar snap peas and chips. I much prefer mushrooms and onions with my steak, but they weren't on offer here. Very very expensive too. There are much nicer restaurants to visit in Killarney with beautiful tasty food at half the price. We won't be going back here.

Was SO excited to take my mum here for a meal, as fish lovers this seemed like the best restaurant to go to in Killarney. The menu looked great. Starters was lovely but mains was a HUGE disappointment! Scallops and monkfish both overcooked, the pipped potatoes that came with the scallops wer hard as if they had been kept in the oven for hours. Waitress asked us was everything okay with our meal, and we advised of the fish being overcooked. nothing was said to us! when going paying for the meal the chef approached me at the bar, lets just say i have NEVER experienced such attitude from anyone, she asked me what my problem was! i was very surprised by this, she stated... i have been cooking for 58 years and there was nothing wrong with your fish, i advised her that i respect that but as a paying customer and someone who loves fish this was the worst i have ever had. they wer 100% overcooked! she walked away! walked away, its quite sad that a chef cannot accept negative criticism and feel they have to come out and speak to customers the way she did. the staff were lovely and ended up apologizing for her . Really disgusting behavior, i will never be back and will never recommend this place all due to her poor attitude and her hostile behavior.

Dear vm793 Thank you for taking the time to follow up with us about your experience with us recently. We were very sorry to hear that our restaurant did not meet your expectations and regret any upset that was caused to you and your mum. We always appreciate feedback whether it is positive or constructive and we pride ourselves on delivering an excellent dining experience to all of our guests. We use all feedback we receive to ensure we can continue to deliver excellent service to all of our guests. Having considered your experience with us we would like to share the following points of view about the service we deliver and the policies we operate in our restaurant: - Where a drink is accidentally spilled by one of our staff we will always offer to replace it if a significant amount has been spilled. Where a very small amount of drink has been accidentally spilled (a few drops) we would not consider it necessary to offer to replace the full drink. - If a guest is unhappy with their food and they have eaten very little of their meal as a result, we will always offer to take the cost of that course off the bill. If a guest complains about their food but has consumed almost all of it we will offer to take part of the cost of the course off the bill, as we did in your case. - Our wait staff may not have indicated to you that they were going to take action about your comments on your main course but they did in fact report it to the kitchen which is why our chef approached you as you were getting ready to pay to ask to discuss your feedback on the meal and to come to a satisfactory resolution, which we attempted to do by offering to reduce the cost of your meal and offering you a complimentary drink. - We have a policy of not subjecting our staff to abusive behaviour by guests and hence we would encourage them to walk away from a situation like this, as they did when trying to come to a resolution with you. - We would also consider it inappropriate for guests in our restaurant to interrupt other guests to ask them for their feedback on their meals. Again, we would like to share our disappointment that our restaurant did not meet your expectations. We are disappointed that we couldn’t come to a more amicable resolution so that you could have ended your evening in a better way with us. However we believe we have followed the policies and procedures that we have set for our establishment in dealing with constructive feedback from guests and in this instance we could have done no more. We wish you the best for the future Kind regards Carol Hartnett & the Foleys Townhouse Team

We dined here last week and were really looking forward to it as the reviews were really good. The food is pretty terrible to be honest. The monkfish sauce just tastes like gravy which is a bizarre combination in itself and the mussels had no flavour at all and the 'sauce' was just cream and nothing else. The duck appetiser was a shop bought sauce slathered all over an overcooked duck breast with a salad of limp lettuce and tomato which was more suited as an accompaniment to chicken nuggets and chips on a kids menu. The food is really expensive and what you actually get on your plate doesn't align with the prices at all. Food is generally quite outdated and could do with some fresh flavours. Great wine selection however and lovely accommodating staff who were polite and friendly.

Myself and my partner booked dinner at foleys and were very excited about it, we arrived a little bit early for our reservation and asked if there was any chance we could head in a bit earlier, to which we were told our table would be ready at 8:30pm. However, when we arrived back at half past, multiple servers walked past us and didn’t acknowledge us. Eventually the “host” came out to us and told us that the people who were on our table were still there, and would be there for another 30 minutes, even though our booking was for 8:30, they were very unapologetic about the whole thing, didn’t offer us a seat at the bar or anything and left us stuck with no dinner reservation on the night of my partners birthday. Would definitely not recommend!

Fantasia meal with big portions. The fish is absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection with plenty of it. It was real comfort food cooked really well and very very tasty. The mussels, chowder, brown bread and John Dory were top notch. Really good value and will definitely be back.

The waitress was friendly and gave us some insight on the history of the Restaurant and it's staff. This building is 70 years old and has a chef that's been working there for 30+ years. The food was great and there was outdoor dining available on the terrace. Highly recommended would go again.

Having traveled many times over the years to Ireland and, more specifically, Killarney, and having an extra week this trip, we decided to see what other great restaurants Killarney has to offer. First on our list was Foley's, based on the reviews from Trip Advisor. lovely little restaurant located right on High street, the main street in Killarney. If you're staying close to town, an easy walk, if staying outside, I would recommend a cab as parking near the restaurant is tough, especially on a Saturday night, and all summer long. Reservations are a must. We were seated immediately upon arrival. I started with the prawns wrapped in filo pastry in a cream sauce, delicious. Wife had the Thai salmon cakes, little crisp balls of salmon with a spicy kick, but not too hot. She loved them. I followed with the Sole Veronique, perfectly perfectly poached fillets of Black Sole covered in a tasty white wine and grape sauce. I ate every bite. Wife had the scallops Mornay, scallops wrapped around a bed of cheesy sauced mashed potatoes. The presentation was akin to a shepherd's pie. She also loved hers. The mains come with mashed potatoes and vegetables served family style, in this case, small florets of broccoli and snap peas. Now comes the fun part. Foley's has an extensive and varied wine list that they present to you via ipad. Over 300 wines supposedly. I chose a nice Spanish white. For dessert I had a slice of their home made warm apple pie a la mode with home made ice cream. Wife engulfed the peach schnapps creme brulee. All in all a fabulous dinner from beginning to end. Service was friendly and well timed. Recommend highly for a nice dinner out. Expensive

We ate here tonight and had the most beautiful meal, we had the prawns in filo for starter, absolutely delicious and then 2 of us had the sole and my daughter had the fillet steak. The food was just amazing. Compliments to the Chef... probably the best food we have had on our "staycation" in Kerry and Cork. lovely staff too. I would highly recommend this place.

Staying in Killarney as a touring base for a couple of nights we thought we would look for a good restaurant to get us out of the boring hotel dining room. Having chosen Foley's we were not at all disappointed. The Restaurant was buzzing and busy from just after we arrived so we were lucky to get our order in early. We both decided to start with Moules Mariniere, to be followed by Melody of Seafood ( a variety of different fish on the same plate ). It was also agreed between us that it would be a shame not to enjoy a good bottle of white wine with the meal. So a bottle of Muscadet Sur Lie was ordered, and as usual was a suitable accompaniment to well cooked and seasoned fish. We finished with a Creme Brulee for my wife and mixed Ice Cream for me; altogether a wonderful meal.

We had a birthday dinner for my mother-in-law @ Foleys Restaurant in Killarney this week. The food was excellent, really good quality beef & top quality scallops. Also, worth a mention the starters of a goats cheese tart & thai salmon fishcakes which were really tasty. The restaurant has an intimate feeling with excellent service & super friendly staff. We will definitely be booking a return visit to this lovely Killarney gem.

We visited for dinner around 8pm in August. We waited about 15 minutes at a bar table for a table even though there seemed to be plenty available. Admitted we were late as it was 8:30pm but they seemed to have limited staff and service was spotty. The restaurant was also hot and the air stagnant. The staff seemed to have a hard time understanding our orders and the food itself, while edible, was largely forgettable. We also ordered drinks but two of the 4 drinks were made wrong. We would not go back.
