About

Our ethos is to serve an eclectic mix of good food, in modern surroundings combined with a friendly atmosphere. We offer tapas, seafood, steaks & a wide variety of contemporary dishes. The Franciscan Friary is just up the street from our restaurant and it has been a landmark in the town of Killarney since its construction in the early 1860’s. However the Franciscans that built the Friary were Belgian Friars. The Belgian Franciscan Provincial that agreed to send some friars to Ireland was Fr. Archangelus Vendricks! Thus we decided to name our restaurant after this visionary Friar and we actually opened our restaurant on the 7th of December 2018 – The 150th Anniversary of the Opening of the Friary in Killarney!

Great evening at Vendricks

My boyfriend and I ate in Vendricks Restaurant on Friday night and had a lovely experience. We ordered 7/8 Tapas which was probably more than we needed as they are quite large- the menu was very extensive so it was hard to choose! :) The food was absolutely delicious and accompanied by a really good bottle of Rioja. The service was very friendly and efficient and we were made feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this restaurant- the menu really is so large and very different to anything we’ve experienced in Killarney before. The staff were so friendly and helpful, taking a lot of time to recommend places for us to visit after, The restaurant is very roomy so you’re not crowded and sitting on top of the people next to you, like so many restaurants these days. Thumbs up from us!

Sumptuous food, delightful staff

Having stomped around a busy Killarney town trying to get in to variius restaurants we stumbled on Vendricks restaurant. Like so many restaurants it was busy and the young lady did her best to accomodate us asking if we would wait for half an hour or so. We are so pleased we waited!! Our food was delicuous, salad was crispy and fresh, steak cooked exactly as requested and was delicuous, my partner had fish and was pleasently surprised by delicate taste and presentation. A good choice of both red and white wine while also having a full drinks menu from their bar. We will certainly be back. I would especially commend the wonderful team who waited on us. From the young lady who welcomed us at the door to those who served our table, a professional & friendly crew. It will be our first stop next time, no tromping the streets. Thank ye all at Vendricks, looking forward to sampling some more of ye're delicuous fare on our next visit. We will be wiser too and book in advance. Thank ye all.

Myself and 3 friends had the pleasure of dining in this restaurant at the start of August..superb ambience in an idyllic setting...menu was varied and catered to all our pallets,food was of an exceptional quality, with all of us raving praise on our dishes, but mostly the service was outstanding. A wonderful re-introduction to this new world. Mostly,not only did I thouroughly enjoy the high quality, expertly cooked food but I felt safe and cared for at all times...well done to all involved.

Went to this restaurant recently the service was good with attentive waiters but the food we ate was terrible I had fish starter and main and my partner had meatballs and steak all dishes were rubbery and bland. I couldn’t finish my meal. The decor was lovely however the food was not worth the money

Delicious food and fantastic service

We were in Killarney for the weekend to celebrate my 50th and had booked a table for the Friday night - even though they couldnt find our booking they were still able to accommodate us and were lovely in doing so. The food and service was amazing - the manager (Wendy?) was fantastic. In fact it was so good we went back the following night for my birthday dinner and they even had a birthday cake arranged for desert. We ate from the Tapas menu on both occasions - every dish was delicious and excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes great food and excellent service. We will be back!

We had the tapas, fish cakes, savage, duck spring rolls, savage, calamari, savage, pork belly, savage everything was outstanding. Fabulous service beautiful wine menu. Overall it was amazing.

Wonderful Experience

On our fourth evening of Ireland travel the four of us decided to take a break from Pub Fare and seek out a dining experience accompanied by a nice bottle of wine. Killarney offered a few options and we selected Vendricks based on its inviting entry and pleasant ambiance upon entering. Although not extensive, the wine list is varied and offered a great selection. The menu also offered interesting options which allowed us an opportunity to explore both “small plates” and full portions of various meat and fish alternatives. Two of our party decided on baked cod which was served in a very delicate cream base herb sauce. With a side of mashed potatoes the offering was outstanding. Our other two diners opted for a small plate. One was a delicately prepared plate of grilled scallops accompanied by a small salad and puréed fennel. The second small plate of bacon wrapped prawns were wonderfully and tasty prepared. We felt welcomed unhurried, and enjoyed the evening immensely. A highly recommended dining experience.

Superb food, service and price👏

I visited Vendricks restaurant and wine bar in Killarney with my husband and son. We had their fabulous homemade mushroom soup, lattes and light fluffy scones with jam and cream. It was exceptionally good and the lady serving us was fantastic and so friendly. She told us it has only opened as a cafe in the last 6/7 weeks but definitely worth a visit and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back. Thank you for such an unexpected, enjoyable and memorable experience in your cafe.

Very disappointed

Food was bland. Went for tapas, pork belly not rendered inedible, mouth of chewy fat. Staff couldn't give a sh£te Patas bravas soggy & drowned in tasteless tomato. There is so many better places that are cheaper. I'll reinterate staff were too busy for attention for the money spent. Avoid!

Outstanding Service and Food

Went to this restaurant because it was recommended by others! I was with a lady who was celebrating her 50th birthday. Food was excellent, I had the Thai green curry and my friend had the beef lasagna. When it came to desserts I had the baked Alaska and my friend chose the flourless chocolate cake. The staff came out with a candle on the chocolate cake without being asked singing happy birthday and then gave the dessert on the house! Outstanding service! Thanks so much! We will be back 👍

Delightful Tim at Vendricks

We recently dined at Vendricks and were very pleased with the food served. The staff were more than helpful and the outdoor heaters ensured an enjoyable evening outside. A man walking the street leaned in an shouted at us as to what we were eating, but apart from that it was a pleasant and enjoyable evening. I would eat here again and would encourage friends and family to give Vendricks a visit.

If vegan don't bother with Vendricks!

Very, very disappointing meal. There are no vegan options currently on the menu in any course, but on booking the table a few days prior to the meal, they were advised that vegan options would be required. Despite this, the offerings available were completely basic - bruschetta for starter (with 'vegan' cheese that tasted suspiciously like goat's cheese, which of course would not be vegan!), and a risotto for main that was literally rice and peas, with zero flavour. It's a nice looking restaurant, and the servers were friendly, but the meal was very poor. Unfortunately I would strongly recommend vegans to skip Vendricks.

Amazing!!

Myself and my husband had dinner in Vendricks last night and it was incredible! I had thai fish cakes to start, it was a massive portion and so delicious! I then had the prawn thai green curry for the main course and it was amazing, so full of flavour. My husband had the potted crab and shrimp followed by the seafood risotto and they both tasted incredible. Our desserts were date and sticky toffee pudding and crème brulee, both were very tasty! There was also an great selection of wine. It was the best meal we have both had in a long time, we will definitely return again! The staff were lovely and the decor is beautiful. Thank you! Couldn't recommend highly enough!

We were there on Saturday night the place was buzzing, food was delicious and so well cooked, staff was so tentative and polite even though they were busy we felt welcomed and well taken care of. Cocktail menu is amazing and we heard is newly added just recently great feature for already fab restaurant. Definitely coming back next time we're in Killarney.

Superb meal and ambiance

We made a late booking for a group of seven and the staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The food was fabulous - we had a mix of main courses and tapas, all of which were delicious. We were the last guests and the staff were the polite and friendly to the last. Great place made even better by the staff.
