We had a table booked for our group of 4 for dinner, after a short wait we were escorted to our table and the customer service could not have been better.
We were served by a lovely man (didnt catch his name) who was happy to to through the menu with me as I am a picky eater and he assured he would arrange for my meal to be just the way I liked it.
We were given our drinks and sat at a lovely table in the cosy dining room and nothing was too much of an ask our server/bar man was happy to help.
When we finished our meal he brought us into the resident's bar so we could enjoy our drinks and continue our evening.
It was the highlight of our trip that night, each of us agreed it was the nicest meal we had ever had so credits to the kitchen team!
Will 100% be recommending to all we know coming to Killarney!

We ate here last night as a family of 6. Everything we all ordered was absolutely delicious and we all left with happy stomach's! We would recommend the duck spring rolls, wings and goats cheese to start. Burgers, steaks and supreme of chicken for mains were SO GOOD!! As well as the food being great the staff were so welcoming and very friendly, our kids loved the joking and messing. 100% would recommend visiting this restaurant and we will be back again!!

We had a wonderful evening at Hannigan's for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The food was excellent from start to finish and the service could not have been better. The waiter was attentive and made sure everything was to our liking and always with a friendly attitude. So despite the current situation with social distancing, masks etc, we were able to experience the wonderful hospitality of Hannigan's. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed overall. We tried to book a table earlier in the day but were told it was on a first come first served basis. When we arrived we were told there would be a 40 minute delay to be seated, but we had to wait there on the pavement to hold our spot. We did not mind waiting and the staff were quite good at keeping us updated.
We took our seats and ordered straight away as we knew what we wanted. A full fifty minutes passed, after receiving our drinks. Staff totally ignored us in the meantime. Eventually, after seeing other tables get served before us, (food similar to what we had ordered), we had to ask the staff why there was such a delay in serving us. They apologised and said we would be next. It was a further ten minutes to get served.
The food was indeed nice but the portions were very small. The food was certainly not worth the price they charged for it. Our waitress, obviously touting for business/tip repeatedly came back to us then asking us if we wanted more drinks/anything else. Our plates were whisked away from us immediately we had finished eating (which had not taken long given such small portions). The staff were almost dismissive of us as we paid....which was to their own misfortune as we usually give a decent tip having worked in restaurants ourselves and knowing how nice it is to receive them.
Their covid hygiene was appalling. There was no contact tracing done for us, but it was for the people waiting after us. No hand sanitisers at the entrance to the outdoor dining area. The tables were given a quick wipe of a cloth, with some table-top areas, the salt/pepper and menus not wiped at all. Furthermore, some of the hand sanitisers in the hotel and bathrooms were empty when we went to use them.
I certainly will not be eating here again, and will not recommend it.

Dear Tucky45
Thank you for taking the time to review Hannigan’s following your recent visit to our Terrace Dining – we appreciate all feedback as it gives us an insight into our customers’ opinion which we value greatly.
I’m sure that you will appreciate that current government restrictions make it difficult to accommodate all diners wishing to avail of the limited outdoor dining options around the country at the moment. Each property has had to decide whether they work on a reservation or a walk-in basis and in Killarney, we are the one of the only restaurants taking walk-ins. We feel that this gives the best option to our customers to enjoy a wonderful outdoor experience, and additionally it means that visitors to the town have the opportunity to dine where they might have been unaware of the necessity to book ahead. This walk-in policy means that there will likely always be a bit of a wait, but as you say, our staff are trained to keep waiting guests updated on the timeline to ensure they are not feeling forgotten. The busy-ness of Hannigan’s and the fact that every single dish is prepared to order means that sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, but we hang our hats on the fact that good food takes time and we hope that while waiting, our guests are enjoying the music and vibe in Killarney’s finest outdoor terrace.
I am very disappointed to hear that you considered your portion to be small. This is never the feedback we receive. In general, and as is attested to in many reviews, our portion sizes are considered to be very generous and we are always conscious of managing our food waste carefully in the kitchens as a result.
I am very happy to hear that the team member that attended to you on the day in question regularly checked to see that you had everything you needed, although I am sorry that you interpreted this careful attention as ‘touting for business’.
Tips are always at the discretion of the guest and it is absolutely your right to choose not to leave a gratuity. Our staff are always a little disappointed when they don’t receive a tip, not because of the financial loss, but because it signals that the customer was not happy. That said, our staff are well paid and will take it on the chin and aim to exceed customer expectations next time.
In relation to our Covid Sanitary measures, we are an accredited Fáilte Ireland Safe Destination Member in addition to the receiving Safe Destination Kerry 2021 accreditation and our staff are following all the procedures in Fáilte Irelands Reopening Guidelines including contact tracing, sanitisation and provision of hand sanitiser around the property.
Finally, as a former hospitality worker I am surprised that empathy for those striving to deliver fantastic Staycation Experiences to fellow citizens in what has been a very difficult year for hospitality workers, you did not mention any of your grievances to a Manager on the day of your visit, rather choosing to post here instead. Had you spoken to a Manager on the day we would have gone beyond all the extra miles to deliver the experience you were expecting.
We wish you a very pleasant summer season and thank you again for your review which we will share with the team so that we can always strive to do better.
Kind regards
Tracy Coyne

We ate here on a Sunday. I ordered the soup and toasted sandwich which for what was anextorsionate price for what I got example. The slices of bread were very slim and not of the thickness that was stated in the menu. The smoked salmon was dry and over cooked. The Buddha bowl was overpriced for what we got. €3.20 for a glass of orange juice is ridiculous. Overall the experience was poor and I won't be returning.

We have been going to Killarney the last 30 years and today was my first time in Hannigans.
We stopped here for an early lunch.
2x trad fish and chips and 1 soup&toastie special came to €39. Absolutely delicious. Sat down in a lovely corner
beside the fire. Staff
were helpful, friendly and attentive. I can't believe I've never been here but this will definitely be our new place each time we visit Killarney! Delicious food.

First off, you should make a reservation if you are having dinner at this restaurant. We were very lucky that there was one table left open during the off-season (February) and were able to grab a table. The service is out of this world! My wife and I wanted for nothing when we were dining at this restaurant, and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. This, coupled with the delicious food, made this a great experience. I had the Roast Irish Beef, which was local. My wife had the Lamb Roast, which was also local. Definitely recommended! Be sure to get dessert as well!

Good - vegetable soup and chips were nice. As was decor (cosy and Christmassy). Floor staff were by and large very attentive.
Average - chicken goujons were very bland and definitely not made on the premises (looked like the frozen variety which is a bit of a liberty for the €17 price tag).
Terrible - Management treated me disgustingly after I sent back my starter. The brie I sent back to the kitchen was barely fried and definitely very cheap (think lumpy custard consistency). Even though I only ate two bites (which made up approx 1/3 of the starter as there were only two small triangles on the plate) I was charged for it as well as the chips I ordered as a substitute. When I queried this with the server once I received the bill, he returned to my table on at least three occasions with follow up questions (which server had I returned the plate of brie to, did I mention what was wrong with it etc.) For a finish the Manager came over and told me that I would have to pay for the brie and the chips as I had simply asked for a swap. Such insulting treatment from someone in a position of leadership. On what planet does someone who is enjoying a plate of food send it back to the kitchen and ask for it to be replaced with a simple bowl of chips. I expected to pay for either the brie or the chips but not both. Incredibly money hungry behaviour from this establishment. I won’t be back and would recommend others avoid it also.

Just had the most amazing family meal in Hannigans. We go here for all our family special occasions as we are looked after so well by the professional attentive staff and the food never disappoints. Generous portions, really tasty and a great selection. Noreen in the front bar was our server last night and she so friendly, attentive and helpful. She really made our night absolutely perfect, even surprising a member of the family with a birthday dessert. Thank you so much, we look forward to returning in the very near future.

We visited the restaurant in May 2019 while on a 14 day G Adventures tour; sorry for the delayed review.
After a long day cycling, we walked over from our BnB to the International Hotel and ate at Harrigan's. We sat by the fireplace and and enjoyed a delicious meal served by a very good waiter. We started with soda bread and a bottle of French Pinot Noir (Lemorre). I had the roast beef with potatoes and veggies and my wife enjoyed the fish pancake. The roast beef was well done but had been cooked so slowly that it feel apart and melted in your mouth. We finished the meal with sponge cake dessert.
This was a high class meal in a very good restaurant with excellent service. Highly recommended.

We had food here on our last night in Killarney. Food was very tasty, quick and friendly service and a great pint of stout as well. One of the waiters did make a slight mistake in serving gin in a wine glass. Apparently that makes a difference in how gin tastes. Quickly sorted!

Ordered the poached eggs and spinach and potatoes. Waited ages and then it came out there was a massive amount of cooking oil all over the plate . It was swimming in oil. I called the waiter and asked about why it was so oily and he just looked at me and said what. I returned the meal and he just kept staring at me. Husband has the full breakfast not worth 15 euro . Wouldn’t bother returning

Hi, my boyfriend and I had dinner in Hannigans last night. From the moment we walked in the door we were well looked after. The food was absolutely outstanding and the staff were fabulous. It was my boyfriend's birthday, so during our meal I went and found our waiter and asked if he could put a candle on my boyfriend's dessert as I wanted to surprise my boyfriend. I gave him the candles and within minutes he brought out the dessert with the candles and wished my boyfriend a very happy birthday. My boyfriend and I were absolutely delighted. We were so impressed with the food, the staff and the cleanliness of the establishment, I went to reception and purchased a voucher for the restaurant as a gift for a loved one at home. We spend a lot of time in Killarney and this was honestly one of the best dining experiences we have had. Thanks again.

Staying at the International Hotel Killarney, we were exhausted from our travels and decided to eat at Hannigans which has an entrance right in the hotel lobby.
Noreen was our server and she took such great care of us. She offered great recommendations and suggestions—also was prompt in making sure we had everything we needed.
The food was absolutely superb. I had the goat cheese appetizer, duck and chocolate and orange dessert. Everything was amazing and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The price point was excellent for the high quality food we had. Do not hesitate to stop here during your Killarney visit!!

We used to go here before COVID at least once a week as the food was so good, but oh dear what has happened?. The soup was just ok, the roast Pork was chewy, apple sauce too sweet and veg just eatable. We had a side of chips which were barely cooked, mostly hard on the inside, the chips were dropped on the table and we were not offered any sauces, we got up and asked for ketchup, we got two tinny pots with about one tea spoon of sauce in them, didn't know there was a sauce shortage!! Unbelievable when you are already paying 17 euros for a chewy 2 slices of Pork. Much better dinners available in Killarney, will definitely not be goings back.
