By far the best fish and chips I've had in years. The mushy peas were amazing. Really relaxed atmosphere and love being able to drown it in salt and vinegar which was left in the table!

The take-away side of the place was hoppin, but we decided to be seated at a table on the restaurant side since there were plenty of open tables, it was nice and toasty warm inside, and we could people-watch out to Quay Street. Staff were...More

McDonagh's Seafood is a Galway institution located on the main street (Quay St) in centre of city.- great for fried fish and chips. Often a queue of people but the line is quick - the left side of the place is for fast food, and...More

There's so many restaurants in this area, so how does one choose? So many customers in McDonagh's, we thought it must have fresh fish...and good! On entry, its just like a fast food...fish and chips...no frills shop! No atmosphere...the staff are rush..rush..rush... Anyway, we ordered...More

We had the cod and chips which is apparently their best seller. It was excellent. Service was great. If in Gallway and want fish and chips give it a try.

Looking for a small thing to eat after a day walking around the city, we ended up in that place, you choose from a big board on top of the counter like in any other fast-food but here they only serve fish and chips..... and...More

McDonagh’s reputation is undeserved and we can’t believe some of the reviews. Frozen cod instead of fresh, and chips which had a peculiar taste, is not what we expected from a business we had heard so much about.

I love fish and chips, so had to try it after several from Kilkenny and Galway recommended, stating it was the best in Ireland. It was good - just not my favorite. It was a large serving, so two of us actually split the meal....More

MCDonagh's is in an ideal location at the top of Quay Street. It is very crowded but the line moves fast and you get your food quickly. You can chose to sit on the self serve side or the restaurant side. The wait for the...More

You may want to contact the restaurant with your question as I doubt any customer will know the content of food items.

Mc Donagh's have been tantalising the taste buds of both Visitor and Local for four generations. The Family knowledge of Fish and dedication to their customers has earned them the reputation of being one of Ireland's best Seafood's Houses. Mc Donagh's is divided into two sections: In the Seafood Restaurant you will find a great variety of fish dishes on our menu. From native Clarenbridge Oysters, Salmon, Crab, Scallops,Prawns, Hake, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Haddock, Wild Mussels and Ray. Smoked Salmon from Connemara and whatever else the Fisherman can get his hands on. A new addition to our menu is Irish Rib Eye Steak from Mc Geough's Butchers Oughterard Co. Galway. In our Fish & Chips Bar the fish is cooked to order, and you are guaranteed the freshest of Chips, as our potatoes are peeled and cut on the premises. Our Fish & Chips can be eaten on the premises or taken away, we also have outside seating during the summer months.
