Mc Donagh's have been tantalising the taste buds of both Visitor and Local for four generations. The Family knowledge of Fish and dedication to their customers has earned them the reputation of being one of Ireland's best Seafood's Houses. Mc Donagh's is divided into two sections: In the Seafood Restaurant you will find a great variety of fish dishes on our menu. Place was very busy but staff were lovely. Atmosphere was good and enjoyed the surroundings. Cod and chips was pretty average unfortunately - it was very late in the day, so maybe that’s why.
Basic menu keeps focus on food too notch. Fish & chips were good - got curry sauce and it wasn’t the best curry sauce I’ve had but still satisfied. Wish they had more than one type of canned beer to order. That would be my...only suggestion. The decor was fun and the restaurant was clean. Staff met basic expectations on service.More
Virtually tasteless, both the fish and the chips. Chips were blond and bland; we left almost all of them untouched. We were told these were the best fish & chips in the city. Needless to say we didn’t try any elsewhere.
We stopped here for lunch on a day trip to Galway. The locals recommended McDonagh's as the best place to go for fish & chips.
When we arrived, the restaurant was busy (a good sign) and we ordered and found a table outside in the...sun.
The food was fresh, cooked to order and very good.More
We stopped for lunch on a busy Saturday after reading the stellar reviews and took our food to the waters edge. Not sure what classic fish and chips is supposed to be like but ours was cod and a greasy, soggy mess, both the fish...and the chips. Nonetheless, we enjoyed it but continued our quest for the best f & c in Ireland.More
This restaurant was a priority for me in Galway based on my travel book. It's in a great location and the staff were both friendly and efficient. However, I wasn't impressed with the food: it was fine, but didn't live up to my expectations. It...did feel like a busy local spot, with great people watching from the front windows.More
No where comes close, although many pretenders for the title exist the fresh cod and chips here has yet to be beaten. Milk must be from magic cows for the price though 😂😂
It was easy to find as people were lined up outside the door, wait was about 20 minutes not bad considering how many people. We chose cod for the fish…This was the best fish n chips we had on our whole Ireland trip. But it...was too greasy for my taste and should have been left to drain for longer. Also would have preferred the chips to be cooked longer…More
