When I first walked in I wasn't impressed. The kitchen looked unclean and the staff practically shouted at you but maybe that was their way of getting our orders correct. The strong smell of fish had me gagging but despite all this the food was...More

My friend Liam is from Galway and recommended this place. My husband and I went immediately, and loved it. The chipy has far more than just cod as their fried fish; you can get about 10 different kinds of fish beyond cod. The fish is...More

I had not been here for a few years and was looking forward to their renowned chowder. I was sorely disappointed. I ordered chowder and fish and chips. Firstly the chowder, well it wasn't chowder at all. It was a sludge green soup with an...More

Decided to have one last fish and chips dinner on our last night in Ireland and chose this place as the name had been on a map I’d seen. It has a nautical theme, and is seemingly highly regarded as evidenced by the many framed...More

Ordered the shellfish platter (A MUST!) and the fish and chips. The shellfish platter was amazing and the chips were crispy to the end. Will not disappoint!

The freshness of this fish is amazing, since Galway is a coastal city. Get cod and chips with salt and vinegar, have the food for take-away and walk 5 minutes down to the river and eat your food. I can't even describe the crisp freshness...More

Fish was very fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The taxi driver we had earlier in the day recommended this place and said it was the best fish and chips in town. We had the fish and chips, onion rings, beans, and tar tar sauce. Small line...More

You may want to contact the restaurant with your question as I doubt any customer will know the content of food items.

Description
Mc Donagh's have been tantalising the taste buds of both Visitor and Local for four generations. The Family knowledge of Fish and dedication to their customers has earned them the reputation of being one of Ireland's best Seafood's Houses. Mc Donagh's is divided into two sections: In the Seafood Restaurant you will find a great variety of fish dishes on our menu. From native Clarenbridge Oysters, Salmon, Crab, Scallops,Prawns, Hake, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Haddock, Wild Mussels and Ray. Smoked Salmon from Connemara and whatever else the Fisherman can get his hands on. A new addition to our menu is Irish Rib Eye Steak from Mc Geough's Butchers Oughterard Co. Galway. In our Fish & Chips Bar the fish is cooked to order, and you are guaranteed the freshest of Chips, as our potatoes are peeled and cut on the premises. Our Fish & Chips can be eaten on the premises or taken away, we also have outside seating during the summer months.
