This Italian restaurant is fantastic… we dined here at 8.30pm on a Thursday and the restaurant was full … with a mix of tourists and regulars…. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing…. The ambience and decor is this old repurposed Mill House...which has a stream running underneath is very special and unique…. Definitely will be back againMore

Doesn't looks much from outside and the entrance is a little hidden/confusing. However, once you go down the stairs, that all changes! We were served by a Canadian lady who had only been there a week, she was lovely, attentive and friendly. Decor was warm...and comfy. Food was quick and delicious. Portion sizes are large so be sure to come along hungry!More

We booked a table for 7:15 and when we arrived were asked to wait at the bar until our table was ready. The restaurant has a lovely old vibe, relaxed feeling to it. The restaurant had many empty tables but it was 20 minutes before...we were seated. When we were seated, it took the waiter another 5 minutes to come over to us. Luckily, we had already viewed the menu at the bar and we ordered immediately. We received our starter after about 15/20 minutes. We then waited...and waited....after one hour, a waitress came and stated our food would be out shortly....and we waited.....we asked a waitress could she check on our food and she never came back - after an hour and a half into our booking, the food still hadn't arrived. I left because I had another commitment and my husband asked for the food to be made to go off another waiter. Another wait.....and a waiter came with the food. Not packed to go. My husband sent the waiter back to pack the food to go. He then had to wait about another five minutes to receive and pay the bill!!! When we ate the food later that night together, it was good but nothing superb. I had heard so much about this restaurant but the service was shocking and made the whole experience awful. I would not recommend this restaurant at all unless your plan is to sit through a couple hours of drinking wine without food.More

We booked last minute having seen a review of this place online on a mid week evening. The restaurant itself is lovely with a very cosy and romantic feel to it. It was very busy on a Wednesday evening. Staff were friendly but service was...a little slow. We were made feel welcome and there was a lovely atmosphere We shared a starter and both it and the main courses were delicious. The gnocchi in particular was really lovely. We would definitely return!More

We booked dinner here as the places we had wanted to have dinner near Eyre Square were fully booked during the Arts Festival. As Il Vicolo was outside the old city but en route to our venue, it made sense. We were very pleasantly surprised...with good service, a great wine recommendation by the sommelier, and the charming setting on the river. I had two starters as that was what appealed to me and they were superb. I'm glad I ordered the starter pasta as that was as much as I would normally eat. The main course pasta which my husband had was also delicious with an unusual sausage.More

very nice ambience and a lovely glimpse of the river flowing over rocks as you walk to your table. The food was generally nice but some mishaps suggest it has over-reached its capacity to provide a good dining experience. My wife ordered ravioli - these...came to the table with an almost frozen filling. Evidently they had been removed from the freezer and plated directly by mistake. We returned them to profuse apologies and they were remade (ultimately a good dish). We ordered a carafe of wine from the specials menu (the blackboard) for 30euro. When the bill arrived the stated cost was 40euro. The waitress was quick to correct this and stated it was an honest mistake, and adjusted the bill accordingly. However, these combination of factors tarnished the evening somewhat. Overall, poor performance we thought.More

The food was superbly delicious and the restaurant was absolutely beautiful in a Mill Setting with a stream running underneath and my daughter booked us a window table next to the stream. Idilic! The service was excellent despite being very busy and there was a...jazz band playing providing the right balance of music.More

Lovely location and in a landmark building. This historic building creates an environment for a great restaurant experience. On arrival on a rainy Galway evening, we were greeted and taken to our table. The staff were all friendly although a little indifferent, we ordered starters...and mains, drinks order was separate. Long wait for starters and drinks with many different staff, another wait for mains and different staff. Ordered desserts and expressos. Food was generally very good but the lack of direction for staff was lacking.More

Saw this restaurant from the bridge and wandered down. Made welcome by staff even though we just stopped for a drink. Sat outside which was really pleasant. There was a jazz band inside which sounded fine. We decided to book for the following night and...this time we were inside. Nice atmosphere and Jamie the barman made us feel most at home. Let us try a few wines as there was on Soave. The meal and wine were excellent. Toilets were immaculate. Recommend highly.More

Lovely spot in the Latin Area, for dinner, we were lucky enough to get a seat outside overlooking the river, as it was a nice mild evening. Food was very good with a excellent choice for all tastes. Nice wine list, with an excellent house...Pinot Grigo, desserts were lovely, we went inside after dinner as it got a bit cool outside, and there was a very good jazz band playing. Overall, an enjoyable evening.More

Buuuaaahaaahaaa! Are there any nice bars nearby? This is Galway, Ireland. There are not just "any good bars." There are a zillion good bars! Including The Kings Head - 800 years old. Have fun on the pub crawl!
