Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not sure if the management has changed, used to be a great place for food, Sunday lunch, very basic food, seems only pepper sauce or gravy accompany dishes. Had grilled stuffed( with what tasted like paxo) chicken supreme cold and looked liked it needed to...be cooked again, Dry and bland, Veggies were hard, cold and tasteless.More

We went here last night for dinner. The food is really nice, nothing fancy just good home cooked food (roasts, burgers etc), portions are generous. It’s a very busy spot and at times there may be a bit of a wait. Staff and owner are...very nice. We live about 15 minutes away so it’s very handy to get to if I don’t feel like cooking a Sunday dinner. Would definitely recommend.More

Visited here yesterday with my husband and kids wont be back unfortunately. Waiting 1 hour 20 mins for food. My husband waited 20 mins for a pint. Bill came to over €120 no deduction. After 1 hr 10 mins we were told one of the...mains was no longer on the menu even though my husband ordered it 1 hour 10 mins before this. Group of drinkers there with no food didnt wait longer than 3/4 mins for their pints. Very disappointed wont be recommending. And loads of floor staff on so no excuses.More

I went there with family for an evening meal. As somebody who has dined there often in the past and always found the food to be good especially the evening menu. Now it seems to be just one menu all day and judging by the...food that was served up it looked like it had been sitting there since noon. The veg had turned to mush and the meat tasteless. The staff never came near us once they gave us the main course. I don't know if there is a new chef, new management or maybe its covid but something has gone very wrong. I won't be going back.More

My two most recent visits here pre and post covid lockdown I have found the food to be improving all be it from a very modest low base. Have also encountered some friendly staff but my god the management that we were unfortunate enough to...cross paths with today are seriously out of step with an establishment that values its customers. He started of by refusing to accept my partners version of events and her ringing in advance trying to reserve a place for lunch but being told there was no need, which as it happened turned out to be correct. His curt reply was he was answering the phone, and wouldn't have said anything of the sort. Then his gruffness continued during our ordering of the food. Occasionally a very warm natured waitress called to our table and made sure we were ok. Mr personality didn't appear again to see was everything to our satisfaction with our meal, nor did he lift his head from the counter writing notes when I was settling the bill despite paying right beside him. This in a restraunt that was not busy. Look not everyone loves their job unfortunately, however its probably best that the customer doesn't know this!!More

Large portions of simple food cooked well. Menu is fairly basic, soup, garlic mushrooms etc to start. Beef, turkey/ham, trout etc for main courses. Steak is particularly good.

Our trip took us back to Mountbellew Co Galway, We called to The Malt House for food again. Last time we called it was cold inside.. This is the same cold inside. But on this occasion we received a warm welcome from a young lady...with wonderful English. She took our order and service was very good but the food was just OK soup was vegetable thick but not much taste served with poor quality brown bread. Main dish today for us was chicken curry. Please add some peppers or vegetables rice was fine also 2nd Main was Roast Chicken. Please use smaller plates if this is the normal size of your Roast Chicken. 3rd main was Roast beef which looked fine but vegetables were not tasty. The young lady was such a wonderful happy server. We will call back in summer time maybe just for drinksMore

Visited this restaurant a couple of times last year. Had lunch in August which was fine, sat at the bar no problem. Food average but OK. went again recently and went to the same spot on the bar and enquired about getting a table.. Was...told I had to queue up for a table. I explained to the waitress that we would like to have a drink before our dinner and she said that was OK as long as we queued for a table. I said cant you let us know when the table is ready for us ? but alas she adamantly said we would have to queue for a table. What a poor decision.More
