About
The Pullman Restaurant on the grounds of Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate is one of Ireland's truly unique dining experiences. Comprising of two dining carriages from the original Orient Express, Pullman Restaurant offers panoramic views overlooking Lough Corrib. Located just 2 miles from Galway, on the West Coast of Ireland, this is a dining experience not to be missed on your trip to Galway. One of the carriages, the Leona, dates back to 1927 and was part of the original Orient Express and carried VIP's all over Europe and the UK during its lifespan. 1965 saw Leona's final journey when she was used as part of Winston Churchill's funeral cortege. After this event, Leona with other carriages played

Went here as a treat for a birthday and we really loved it. After reading some of the reviews about small portions I have to say right from the start everything was as you would expect from a 5star business. It was truly amazing and...a must do experience. The staff was so nice and really make you feel special. I thought the portion sizes was perfect for the whole experience. Really is 5 StarMore

Very relaxing experience with great wine, good food in a great setting. Once you accept that you are there for the athmosphere and experience you will enjoy it a lot more, the menu is limited due to the size of the kitchen but the food...is a solid 7/10. You don’t go for the amazing food you go for the experience, excellent service and romantic settingMore

Location, atmosphere, service & food - 10 STARS! Easily our favorite meal during our 2 week holiday. Amuse bouche - apps - mains - desserts - cocktails - all top notch. You can't go wrong here.

My sister and I wanted reservations at the Pulman but were disappointed the only available time was 5:30 pm, a bit early for us. But, the lemon soon became lemonade. There was only one other table occupied at that hour, so the evening was tranquile...and the dining leisurely. We both had the lamb, which was the best either of us remember having. And, Allan, our waiter (see photo) made the experience all the more enjoyable. We highly recommend an early evening dining experience there. Be advised that it was an expensive evening, but we felt we received full value. Make it a special evening.More

Had a business meeting in Pavilion Restaurant on August 3rd. The 2 goats cheese salads we got could best be described as basic. Some leaves of lettuce lots of cheese scattered over with slices of dry cold chicken on top. It was devoid of taste...and overpowered by cheese and chicken both of which were almost inedible. We were completely taken aback at the dish and mentioned it to the waitress who expressed surprise at the dish, she said that the chef told her thats the way we do it now. We tried to eat some but left most of it after us. Pavilion Restaurant used to be top class, it was far from that yesterday...More

My husband and I had our worst meal in Ireland here. We both ordered sea trout that was so overcooked it was hard to cut! There was one strip of pasta in the set up and it was undercooked. I ordered the crab appetizer and...it was either canned or frozen. Not one ounce of flavor. When the front desk asked if we enjoyed our stay, I mentioned this but the blonde quickly dismissed me saying they had never received a negative review. Granted, their reviews are typically good (I'm not sure why) but they don't want feedback from an unsatisfied customer. Besides having bad food, the Pullman smells and needs to be refreshed. All that said, our service was quite good.More

This is such a fabulous setting. Old carriages from the Orient Express now used as a restaurant. We had a private compartment on the evening and it was wonderful. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. The menu is limited but the food is delicious...and well presented, even if the portions are on the smallish size. The amuse bouche set the standard, it was mouthwatering. Is it expensive……yes. Is it worth is……definitelyMore

Since we had taken Pullman package for staying at Glenlo Abbey, a dinner at famed Pullman restaurant was included in our stay. The train carriages have been turned into a restaurant. One of the carriage is part of the original Orient Express. The menu is...prefix with an appetizer, entree and a dessert. For drinks you have to pay extra. It was a unique and beautiful experience. Ambience was good, service was good and friendly. Appetizer and entree were absolutely delicious. There were couple of choices for dessert. I had ordered some kind of cheesecake. I did not like it. My partner being dairy free just had sorbet since there was no other dairy free option. Being a famed and an expensive restaurant they could have added some fresh fruits to the sorbet to make the presentation better. Also one of the servers had gotten the sorbet and it was so little. When our regular server saw it she was very apologetic and immediately got a regular scoop of the sorbet. Even after tiny hiccups we had a good time.More

Spent a summers evening dining in the Pullman restaurant being waited on by Martin. The whole experience was fabulous, delicious food, good drinks and friendly staff. Cannot fault it whatsoever. My partner was delighted to get to watch golf as we dined. Highly recommend 👌

Stayed the weekend in Glenlo and booked Pullman for a special birthday and it not only lived up to expectations but exceeded them too. The original 1927 carriage, once used for Winston Churchill’s cortège is a masterpiece inside, wood inlaid paneling

An experience of rare dining location aboard carriages of Orient express and nice meal but extremely slow service. Seated at 6.30 p.m. and three courses took two and a half hours to be served. Error in billing with no resolution wasn’t very satisfactory given attitude...of staff involved. Won’t return. E McCormack.More

We enjoyed our evening at the Pullman restaurant. The service was excellent and the setting was beautiful. The food was very good apart from two aspects: the root vegetables served as a side dish were so hard it was a struggle to put a fork...through them and the potatoes (although tasty) seemed to be over-cooked. At the end of the meal I asked for a decaffeinated espresso. The coffee served had a really unpleasant flavour and when I told the waiter, he said it was instant coffee. While obviously not the main focus of the meal, it left an unpleasant taste, both literally and figuratively!More
