Not impressed. Whilst we had a reservation for 1pm we arrived about 15 minutes late. The Manager didn’t comment when he took my name but just directed us to a bar table. It was draughty and cool. Not the restaurant I was expecting. Service was...extremely slow. The mains of chicken and plaice were very unimpressive whilst the lamb shoulder was ok. The sides were miserly and very so so. (I wonder if we even got what was due?). The staff were generally nice. During the meal I received an email to say that my reservation had been cancelled, I assume as we were considered a “no show!” I mentioned this to the manager who brusquely informed me that my table had been given away because we were late. The place was not overly busy and I think that out of basic courtesy we should have been told when being seated that we wouldn’t be getting a seat in the restaurant. We would have taken our business elsewhere at this stage! Overall a bitter disappointment for a birthday treat.More

Had a family dinner for four. Two steaks, two fish. Food is tasty, meet and fish fresh, high quality, locally sourced. Giving it 9 of ten, just for sides. Forget french fries with that beautiful Irish steak and yes, go french with fish. Service was...very good. Price performance very good. Overall feeling very good. Recommended.More

We dined on the early side and had a nice corner table. Wait staff were great and efficient and we very much enjoyed the fish and the chicken that we ordered. Both dishes had nice accompaniments and it was a pleasant experience all around. Would...definitely return for another meal!More

They had a nice area reserved for our group of 9 and overall, the food was tasty. However it took more than 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive for a time when the place wasn't crowded. Tip: don't ask for a dry martini.

Hello Philip; Thank you so much for your review.

I've been going there for years. I did reviews in 2013 and 2014...the last one being very positive. I pop in every now and then for lunch and the food is decent without being wow, to be fair but in the past year the level...of service has dropped quite a lot. About 2 months ago I went in for lunch and was about to sit down at a table, to be told I couldnt sit there. I pointed to another table and was told it was graduation ceremony day at NUIG and tables were required. Several tables had reservation markers. The two I suggested I might sit at, did not have any markers. The place was half empty - it was 1 oclock. Obviously they expected to or anticipated filling all tables and have maximum capacity at each table and the idea of one person taking up an entire table was not maximising profit! I went in on my own, but had two friends coming to meet me. It was a bit embarrassing, having to walk out - people at other tables could clearly hear the conversation I was having with the guy (waiter or barman) behind the bar. I definitely won't be back...and while I'm at it, the steak is overpriced and too small.More

To Gianpaolo and the staff at the Brasserie on the Corner Just a quick message to thank you so much for a lovely meal last Saturday that myself and family thoroughly enjoyed. The food was lovely, the choice on the pre-theatre menu was excellent and...the birthday cake was a lovely addition. The atmosphere was great. We didn’t know what to expect and all 11 of us agree it was very pleasant. Thank you to all your staff who whilst they were all very busy on Saturday, we never felt that we were not being attended to. Each member of staff hasd a welcoming smile, always asked how we were getting on after they served us and added to the atmosphere with their jovial conversation. Well done and thank you to all.More

My wife and I went to Galway for a few days to celebrate our 40th. wedding anniversary. We made bookings for meals and one of them was with Brasserie On The Corner. The staff and facilities are good, but on this occasion, the food was...a huge disappointment. I went for Goat’s Cheese for starters and Fillet Steak for main. The steak was quite small (given the price of €36.95) but was cooked as requested. My wife had Soup Of The Day, which was nice. For her main, she opted for Monkfish. The Monkfish was inedible. It was tough, and hard to cut. My wife complained to the manager about the Monkfish and they agreed with her and offered her Hake instead. She refused, as she had “completely lost her appetite” by that stage. The restaurant did not charge for my wife’s Monkfish. Definitely won’t be back. Our general view is that it is nice surroundings, but overpriced.More
