Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

PJs is not on the tourist trail, it’s not on Quay street or Main Street Salthill, it’s a 15 min walk from either but it’s definitely a hidden gem. The owner, I think his name is James or Jim came out to us very excited that we had come in, the bar was quite busy with a match on and we decided to sit outside in his beautiful beer garden that has flowers draped all around. We had a few pints, the craic was mighty, my wife said the toilets were amazing, the locals had the banter, there were crisps and the likes and the Guinness was lovely. Great atmosphere and maybe if you meet the lovely James he’ll shout you a pint if you’re nice to him!! Excellent spot for a pint.

Possibly the nicest bar staff I've ever encountered. Johnny, Odhran and others (didn't get everyone's names). They were so kind and helpful to us and I'll never forget it.
(Also the bar itself has a fab beer garden and a really nice atmosphere.)

Visited here one night as we were staying in the boutique hotel next door. Overall service was good and they have a nice outdoor terrace with outdoor heaters. Also let us buy drinks to take away to our hotel. Would return again if in the area.

Popped in on our way out from a match in Pearse stadium. The sun was shining so we decided to sit outside. The outside area has been done beautifully. I went in to order drinks and there was a man asking for pint bottles of cider, he was told that they hadn't any pint bottles so he asked what cider they had on draft, the barmaid told him they had rockshore so he said he'd have 2 pints and she proceeded to pour a pint of rockshore lager, when the man pointed out that he wanted cider she said she hadn't got any! I ordered a pint of guinness and a pint of Heineken 00 only to be told they didn't have any 00 and didn't have any other non alcoholic beers! (Trust me I'd have loved an alcoholic drink but unfortunately I was driving!) Guinness wasn't great and the service was worse! Very miserable girleen behind the bar. Such a shame as its a lovely bar. The beautiful outside area should've been hopping on a sunny Sunday afternoon but we were the only ones sat outside. We watched 3 separate people walk in and then walk straight back out again.

Great casual place for a drink and watching sports. Had a nice chat with the very friendly owner. The place also had darts and a couple of board games for guests to enjoy!

Perfect. There are a lot of places and spaces in this town of Galway, however there are very few that have the heart and soul of a small community at their core.
There are many things to celebrate in this neck of the woods, however perhaps the jewel of that is Pjs. A family owned business since 1874 years , the oldest family owned bar in salthill that anyone can recall (I shall fight any man on that 😂)
I have been here many time. Had birthdays, wins, losses, loves, for myself and my people. There is much to say and not much at the same time. All ultimately there is no such thing as a waste of time around here. Whatver you are going through, you will find your people. 5 stars is not enough sometimes.

We met our pedal pub tour here at PJ Flahertys. It’s an old pub that well stocked. We encountered a lot of locals who were out to catch the football game.

Pleasant helpful staff. Guinness was particularly good, creamy and silky with no after taste. Bar was well stocked and the bar staff were clearly interested in not only ensuring we had a pleasant experience today but did their best to set up screening of football match for following Wednesday.
