Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very busy but we were lucky to get a table. Kitchen closes at 9, and the restaurant cleared out pretty quickly about this time. Lovely outdoor dining area. Good varied menu and attentive staff. We had noodles which were really nice, and the pulled pork...sandwich.More

Visited this place a few times over the course of a couple of weeks while visiting the area. It's a small menu that still manages to offer plenty of variety. The quality of the food was excellent and the staff were very welcoming and attentive.

Stopped here for a Sandwich and coffee while passing through Oughterard. Ordered a Tuna on brown bread sandwich , what arrived was 2 slices of stale and very cheap supermarket bought bread...with a smidgen of tuna and they had the nerve to charge 5 euro...for this offering. Never again!!!!!More

Ate here with my family recently, we had stopped on our way to the Curraghduff Alpaca farm for bite to eat. We had been travelling all day and were ravenous! We ate in the beer garden out front which was nice but if you get...a chance, ask to eat out the back as it is much nicer. Staff were busy and while polite were not particularly friendly. My wife and daughter ordered the fish and chips (with some garlic bread on the side) and were very happy, no leftovers for me to try alas :( I had mussels and chowder - a classic seafood combo that did not disappoint. Lovely thick chowder with a homemade brown bread and the mussels were tasty and plentiful (although I would preferred if they came in a broth - white wine or tomato based etc) Overall I would say that it hit the spot, nice big portions of solid food. I would also say that it is borderline expensive for you what you get. If I'm passing through Oughterard I may or may not eat there againMore

We had dinner here twice in a four-day stay in Oughterard, in June 2021. We ate outside because of the Covid limitations, so I cannot speak of the interior. The place is quite pleasant, right on the high street, with large parasols to stop what...passes for sun in Ireland. The service is efficient and couteous, although I wouldn't call it 'warm'. I actually prefer it like that, anyway. The food was quite good. The hamburgers actually delicious and quite large. The mussels and chicken wings were also very good. In our first time, there was actually a queue of people in the street waiting for a seat. Always a good sign.More

Stopped off at the Boat inn on a sunny evening this week on our way back from the beach. We were a party of 7 and unfortunately we didnt get one of the outside tables but got a comfortable seat inside. The cod and chips...was reaky fresh and well cooked. All the dishes were goid and the desserts were also very good. I would certainly call again if in the area.More

We dropped into the boat inn on our way back from a day drive in Connemara. The premises is clean, bright and the staff friendly. We had lasagne, salad, chowder and chicken goujons for 1 kid. Food came out quickly and didn't disappoint. The total...bill was about 40euro including drinks which was good value for what we got. Definitely recommend it for a lunch or a drink.More

Stayed in ougherard for one night. Had our dinner here and it was beautiful. Generous portions, tasty and great selection. We had a steak and chicken stirfry witj noodle. You will not be hungry after your dinner here. It was a saturday night so they...also had music starting at 9 which was lovely to sit and listen to after dinner. We went straight back for breakfast in the morning, bacon bagel and pancakes with bacon and maple syrup- did not dissapoint. Again brilliant portions and very tasty. The girls working also were lovely and service was great.More
