The Oslo Bar in Salthill boasts the first and only Microbrewery in Galway which offers a great range of international beers, fresh food and a variety of novel evenings.With an ever changing menu the Oslo keeps people coming back to enjoy the many creative dishes inspiried by "in-season and fresh" ingredents. There is a wide range of international beers but while there you should try our own Bay Ale and Stormy Porter - brewed right on the premises.The front portion contains a comfortable range of eclectic furniture and the back part, set up with German beer garden style sturdy tables. The name Oslo itself comes from the Oslo Hotel which once encompassed the whole premises.Focused on food with a daily menu served from 12 until 10 daily. Select from a good range of interesting dishes. Enjoy the Weekend with brunch including Eggs Benedict and French toast which has fast become something of a Galway institution. An open fire and large comfortable smoking area tick a few more boxes making the Oslo a really great destination.

Nice food and plenty of it. However the chicken wings in the bottom of the dish were dry and had no sauce on them (we asked for extra and were charged). Table service was good. Card machine wasn’t working and we waited for 15 mins to pay while they rebooted the internet before being asked to go to the atm next door. Not their fault that the internet was down but it would have been better to have been told sooner that there was an atm nearby.

This review is a long time coming. I don't live in Galway anymore but during the time that I did the Oslo was a constant feature in my family life. I returned to Galway for Christmas and enjoy every second that I got to spend back home, in the Oslo. Be it with friends or family, a full meal or just a pint this venue is without a shadow of a doubt a fantastic place to get great value for money, atmosphere and an alternative to the regular bar food and pints on offer in Galway. The menu is succinct and well put together with food that offers a wholesome dinner and a selection of beer that will make any beer-lover smile with glee. A great place to enjoy that pint you've never heard of before with friends and family alike. Can only recommend with the highest regards!

Oslo Bar immediately impresses with its warm welcoming atmosphere. The staff couldn't be nicer and the service was incredibly fast. A large selection of beer and other beverages ensured everyone in my group was happy. I am vegetarian but my friends were really delighted with their meat options. One staff member in particular stood out, Sam, who immediately saw to my complaint about the Veggie Burger being too dry, and gave me some yummie garlic dip for my tasty chips.

The Oslo bar has a super welcoming atmosphere and the staff couldn't be nicer. The food always tastes great and the huge selection of craft beer is amazing. Don't worry if you can't decide what beer to pick, the guys at the bar are very helpful and let you taste it. One guy in particular, Sam, knew a lot about all the different beers and made the decision very easy. We are definitely coming back!

My husband and I arrived here on a Friday evening with no booking. The lady that met us at the door was extremely pleasant and showed us to a seat immediately in this already busy restaurant.
Seats were comfy and orders were taken quickly. Food arrived out quickly also and was so delicious. I had chicken wings and halloumi fries...they were amazing and the chicken wings weren't fatty (more people need to talk about this on trip advisor)
A customer sitting near by had seafood chowder and started groaning when he was eating it so I presume it was good also.
We would have stayed all night but had other commitments that evening..
Thanks so much for a lovely dinner and we will see you again soon 💕

Attracted by the good reviews read, we dined in this restaurant-pub in Salthill where we waited a long time, already to be able to place our order, to eat very copious but very ordinary dishes: fish and chips, and Elvis hamburger where the steak chopped (double) requested “rare” (rare) arrived very cooked. Bad value for money. We were also not really offered a choice of beers even though it is a micro brewery.

We stumbled across this little gem as we walked through Salthill looking for somewhere to eat. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly man, possibly the manager, and the friendly wine continued. Every member of staff were really really friendly. We were a family of four and each of us enjoyed what we ordered. Service was prompt and prices were reasonably. Portions were very generous and I was unable to finish mine no matter how hard I tried. We all loved what we got but next time, I will be going for the burgers, they looked fab as they passed us by to other customers. Decor was very hip and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely call again when in Salthill and I would highly recommend.

This place is absolutely disgusting. The smell from the toilets over powers the whole bar. I ordered a burger and twice cooked chips. The burger was hard and disgusting. The chips were definitely frozen and probably microwaved as well. Not fresh cooked food. When I reported it to the waitress she apologised and took it off our bill. My partner ordered a chicken burger. Which came 20 minutes after mine. It was pink and when we questioned the waitress she said it was chicken thigh and not chicken breast. Very low quality food and not freshly cooked. And it cost nearly 28 euro for my partners starters and main. Very expensive for sub standard food. Give this place a miss.

Avoid.. we definitely won't return.. Myself and 3 friends went in to eat and have a few drinks before a gig. My friends received their food, began eating and I still hadn't got my Lentil dal. The waitress apologised I waited and then it came out cold so dissatisfied as I was looking forward to it. Very disappointed and in fairness she took the price off the bill and offered an alternative.
Our drinks included cans of bulmers. Clearly marked on the cans were "multipack do not pay more than 2.75€" we were charged full pub price for 4 pint bottles 27.20€..unacceptable. When I brought this to the bar staffs attention they said it was a mistake that those cans were for carry out only. At no time was I offered a refund. Not a great way to start a night out for us.

We were staying at a hotel down the road. It was 20:15 when we walked in, stood inside the door for a bit, and then walked up to the bar, as there wasn’t anything saying whether to wait to be seated, etc. We stood at the bar for 5+ minutes before someone asked us if we wanted a table (there were only about 3 people sitting at the bar, not too busy). We said sure, sat down, and the server came over with menus. Told us only 3 of the 8-or-so entrees were available that night, said she’d give us a minute to look it over before returning. We sat for about 20 minutes waiting for her return (she walked past and looked over multiple times, but never came back to our table). At that time we had wasted 20 minutes and would have felt rude to go anywhere else for dinner, as it seemed all places closed or stopped serving food by 21:00. Ended up having to walk back to our hotel to get the car and order pizza for take away (room service at the hotel also ended at 21:00). Not a very warm welcome in Galway, unfortunately.

This place is well liked and it’s a cool bar and all....but we ate there last night and the food was woeful. Suspect it was microwaved rubbery chips and fish batter. Probably won’t eat there again soon. But still, good for a pint 👍

We visited last night and were very pleasantly surprised by not only the quality of the food but the customer service. Andrea, was our server and she was incredibly nice and made some really great beer suggestions for us! We will definitely be back when we visit Galway again! The vibe is super chill and really cool and the restaurant itself is very large. Would definitely recommend.

On a recent visit to Galway I decided to enjoy the wonderful seawalk from Galway city to Salthill. On arrival in Salthill I visited the Oslo Bar, home of the Galway Bay Brewing Company. As with all their bars The Oslo did not disappoint. I found the staff very friendly and knowledgeable of the wide selection of craft beers and spirits on offer.

Nice microbrewery with lots of good beers and ok food. We ordered veggie burgers, fish’n chips and bangers&mash. I got an tasting flyer with 4 beers and even got an extra when one of them was of the wrong type.. All beers were tasty. Good and professional service.

Very friendly staff although they did seem a bit run off their feet. Certainly very popular with families, although sadly with that comes mess. Tables were left uncleaned which isn’t great, as was the remnants of food on the floor.
It’s a shame, with a little organisation it could be a lot better.
