Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm the guy who never eats the same thi g and typically not the same restaurant. I enjoy new experiences. However, the food at Oscar's is the best I have had anywhere in the world. You would be missing out on a great memory if...you pass them up.More

Sasha was the perfect host again, when we had dinner here on New Year’s Eve. Once again food, ambience, waiting staff all worthy of 5 stars. From starters to main courses to deserts, all excellent. A delight to visit and a feeling of money well...spent.More

A restraurant which claims to be vegetarian friendly sbould at least offer vegetarian options at a minimum, not to mention exhorbitant prices for some of the cheapest fish going, gold plated coalfish is not worth 30 euros. Ripoff oscars

My partner and I had a fabulous seafood dining experience at Oscar’s. We received a warm welcome from Michael and settled down for the evening to a gastronomic feast. I want to particularly mention the dozen oysters which we both agreed were the best we’ve...ever had. Two other dishes which also stood out for us were the delicious monkfish and mussels in a tomato and olive oil sauce, and the scallops with potato gratin. Michael recommended a Muscadet which perfectly complemented our food. You know you’ve had a particularly special meal when you talk about it for days afterwards. We struck gold with this place and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Galway.More

Friendly welcome, relaxed restaurant. Short list of dishes of the day chalked on a blackboard, but there’s always oysters etc - the Galway Rocks were big and delicious. Fillet of hake was served with chard, boxty and celeriac cream. Substantial and good.

I booked a table in a jiffy. The staff enjoyed the pun on my name and me introducing my fellow diners as 'Coriander' and 'Cumin'. The staff were very attentive. The specials were explained twice. We received very enthusiastic and knowledgeable recommendations on the appropriate...wine for our mains. I had the monkfish, with mussels, local greens. 'Coriander' had the same with croquettes and 'Cumin' had the scallops. We sampled each other's dishes so I can say that all the fish was very tender. The tomato sauce for the mussels was delicious. All the portions were generous, so much so that we didn't have room for dessert. Well done Oscar's! If I lived locally I would happily return regularly to eat the menu in full.More

A Dublin friend recommended this fish restaurant to us, and we were super impressed by the meal we had there. The space is attractive and comfortable, everything we ate was super fresh and delicious, and the wait staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I no longer...remember what we ate (other than fish and seafood) as our meal there was a month ago. I write very few restaurant reviews. I'm motivated to write this one because Oscar's is a real find. Eat there if you can and you won't be disappointed one bit. By the way, we live in San Francisco and have eaten in many excellent restaurants. This one could go toe-to-toe, or fork-to-fork, with most any of them.More

We were recommended this restaurant by multiple people for our time in Galway. The oysters were the best we had during our trip and all of the staff were incredibly friendly. Had a cozy and warm atmosphere and would definitely recommend for date night!

We were greeted and welcomed at the door. Other restaurants in the area we had to seek out someone to seat us. The service was excellent. Others in the area we were ignored and or abandoned. The food was fabulous! Ambiance was lovely. Go there!!

It really wasn’t bad, it’s a nice place to get seafood and the crab cakes were absolutely delicious. Portions are a little small and not suitable for sharing.

I left a message on the ansafone including my mobile number. They called me back and confirmed my booking. I guess they are prepping when the bistro is closed and busy when it’s open.
