Delicious, flavorful food in a pretty bistro. I had the clams and the Moqueca and they were both outstanding. The passion fruit for dessert was wonderful.

Apoema bistro is run by a lovely couple! The husband who is also the chef loves his food and it is displayed in the food that he creates. We had the lamb and it was divine.. falling of the bone the gravy complimented the fantastic...meat. Spicy (NOT HOT) and balanced . The chef took pains to explain the process and ingredients to us which is rare.More

Super flavorful and generous portions! Very great Portugese flavors, and friendly service. This is NOT a quick meal. Everything is cooked to order, and there is an open kitchen so you can kind of see them working which is nice. The inside is pretty small,...there might be about 10, 2 person tables. So if you are going on weekend would definitely recommend making reservations far in advance. I got the lamb shank and my husband got the seafood rice. The lamb was cooked perfectly, fall off the bone. I wish I could have gotten a gallon of the sauce to go that it was in, because it was so good. My husband's had a LOT of seafood in it, and was really flavorful. We also got the clams as an appetizer and I wanted to drink the sauce. The sangria was also great! We highly recommend this place, cooked with love!More

Being ranked here as top restaurant in galway, i went with quite some expectations... Starter was missing cheese even tho its on the menu, FoH barely speaks english so service was mediocre at best, food was fresh, decent, i'd say about average and not winning...my top spot in town. We didnt have to wait long for the food.More

Last evening we decided to try something different. We are vacationing in Ireland, but decided on trying Portuguese/Brazilian food at Apomena. The menu encourages a leisurely pace, to ensure that the flavors of their food meld together. That helped us to take a breath and...relax . We had the lamb shank dinner and the vegetarian meal with rice. Both were very good. The vegetarian dish was nicely spiced and there was an ample quantity. We brought home quite a bit to enjoy later. The lamb shank was done rarer than we are used to, but so tender and wonderful.More

Quite disappointed given the ratings. I was very excited to try Apoema as photos of the food looked amazing and the rave reviews I read on here; however maybe we got an off night? The place was fairly empty given a sunny Saturday evening in...Galway, I didn’t mind that although it wasn’t the atmosphere that the reviews mentioned. Standard simple decor no fuss- again fine by me if the food is good! The restaurant itself was cold and 3 other tables of guests were sitting. When we walked in we weren’t greeted, we walked through to the counter and stood to be awkwardly pointed toward a seat. We waited about 40 minutes for starters (goats cheese and the meat pastry) the pastry came out completely cold, we think they forgot to heat it at all, so we sent it back and waited 15 min for another to come out. The goats cheese was also luke warm but I didn’t want to send both dishes back- it was fine. We were sitting for 1 hour and 20 mins before the mains came out which seemed quite long since there wasn’t many people there, 6 other people. We noticed everyone was waiting the same length to be served their meals. The meals were all served on cold plates so all the food was luke warm. I had the pork which was really only ok, my dad had the lamb which he also thought was just ok, nothing stand out about the €25 dishes. The bottle of wine was really the only tasty part of the €95 meal. Overall disappointed and somewhat confused about the reviews on here.More
