A lovely little find, tucked away down a back street in Galway city centre. Cosy, clearly popular with the local Portugese or Braziliain community, which is a good sign! And all of the food was absolutely delicious - I recommend the moqueca, and there is...plenty of it. Warm and welcoming, distinctive and casual, and food to die for. This restaurant deserves to succeed!More

This little gem of a restaurant in the centre of Galway was a joy to visit. The fish stew and lemon tart were divine. Great wine selection and the service was superb. Could not recommend more- just wonderful.

Thank you so much, your words represent our way of thinking. Apoema Bistro is all about a dichotomy, small restaurant, small team, great food, great service. Sometimes our philosophy of doing everything fresh and cooked to order could indeed lead to some delays, even so...More

Was in galway on visit and as a portuguese national had to come and try this restaurant. It’s a small cosy restaurant, staff - only one lady servicing the tables - was very warm and welcoming. We had for starters the clams which is a...typical portuguese dish however, not the best and wouldn’t recommend. It also came a little cold. The mains took a very long time to come and as a family with a small baby, the baby was getting annoyed of sitting and waiting but when they came, they were hot and tasty - we had the picanha (which is presented very differently to what we eat in Portugal but still tasty) and the fish moqueca which was good. Was unable to try deserts as the baby couldn’t stay quiet any longer and had to leave in a rush. As someone missing a taste of home, left still missing it…More

Hi Thank you for your words. It is indeed difficult to find the precise taste of home when your are on a different country, mostly because the raw materials are not the same and that alters something on our palate, and food is all about...More

I’ve hesitated to write this review. I dined at Apoema Bistro on 1st September last with my sister. In terms of Covid I am in the extremely vulnerable category & my sister is a nurse. Both of us are fully vaccinated. When I booked our...table, the email I received from the owners, confirming the reservation, apologetically pointed out that we would need proof of vaccination. I confirmed that we would have our digital certs with us. Therefore I was stunned by the fact that, upon arrival, we were seated immediately & were not asked for our certs. There were two other tables occupied, one directly behind ours & close enough that the backs of our chairs were in contact. I felt uncomfortable at the fact that we weren’t asked for certs so when our menus were brought I said that I assumed the waitress would want to see them. She just said “oh sure” or words to that effect so we each showed her the certs on our phones. What really disturbed me, however, was the fact that while we were almost finished our meal, a group of four that appeared to be “walk-ins” arrived & were seated with no request for or production of certs. Our food was ok, no vegetarian starter option & only one vegetarian main which was too spicy for my sister’s taste. Overall, however, our evening was not comfortable as we felt the lack of adherence to guidelines had put us at risk.More

Delicious meal with friends here. We shared two starters and had a main each. All the food was exceptional with lots of flavour. It's quite a small restaurant which adds an authentic vibe. People sat at different tables were chatting with each other, adding to...the experience. Would highly recommend. Muito brigado 😀More
