Came here for dinner and drinks on a weekday. Walking down from our hotel we found the Salthill district to be neat and we are glad we found McCabe's. I had the Seafood Linguini, and it was excellent. The table tried the Mussells and Salmon...and they were well received. Our server, Leah, guided us around some local Whiskey's and other libations while we enjoyed the evening. I recommend this place highly.More
The service here was absolutely wonderful. They were attentive not intrusive, a nd answered questions that were helpful to new comers to Galway. While styled as a gastro pub and offering more than pub food, the food itself was not memorable. Still I would recommend...due to a great location in Salt Hill right near the Promonade, and really great staff.More
Terrible meal, service terrible. Ordered a sweet cocktail, was awful, sent it back. Had to wait twenty minutes for replacement, no apologies and wrong drink given as replacement. Could have returned it but didn’t want to wait another twenty minutes. Ran out of there. Terrible...atmosphere and food mediocre at best.More
Stopped by for lunch and wish we had tried somewhere else instead. Looks like a nice pub, interesting decor and decent menu for weekday lunch. After a wait to be seated, we waited another 20 mins for someone to take our order, only because I...went over to where they were cleaning tables and she was most unfriendly about being interrupted. The food arrived in generous portions. Chips hard, fish not really tasting of much, mushy peas with so much white pepper, you couldn’t eat it. Waited another 20 mins to clear plates or to ask for the bill and would probably still be waiting if I didn’t get up to find someone again, despite the place being practically empty. You could forgive slow service if the service you did get was friendly and somewhat efficient.More
We went for food last night in there and we got two Angus burgers and chips, at a price of €17.95 each, at that price we were expecting something delicious, but what we received was far from, the chips were raw some were still hard,...very pale chips, I picked up the burger and the grease nearly covered the whole plate by the time I had eaten the burger, the burger itself was over done, black on the outside and a taste of burnt off it, streaky bacon then was barely cooked and really chewy and fatty, overall experience was terrible, the pictures that people are putting up must be from a while ago and a new chef in there or something, because the food as we looked around looked horrendous, staff were brilliant though, it was a shame we were so hungry and we actually ate it, felt horrible all evening as it was just sitting in our stomach, HIGHLY OVERATED….AVOIDMore
Average at best, unsure where all the good reviews come from. I notice the genuine ones are from pre covid, the latest are a lot of 1 or 2 reviews ever written which is always concerning. Menu really really basic at lunch, goujons and chips,...fish and chips 14.50. One salad, a stew, really nothing stand out. Took ages to get anyone to take an order, food arrived was very basic, fish very poor, thick soggy batter and overcooked fish with a few chips. Looks like a nice pub if you just wanted a few drinks, would not go back, hugely overrated, felt cheated paying what we did for mediocre lunch.More
We recently had our family dinner in the gastro pub. We were greeted by a lovely lady Sandra. She looked after us from start to finish. Our little niece was well looked after with colouring pages, crayons and all the attention, it was great! The...food was very good, and great value. We really enjoyed our night and will definitely be back at some stage. Thank you Sandra and your team for making our dinner so special!More
Came on the bank holiday weekend. Staff were brilliant especially the waiters were very organised. Blonde girl didn’t get her name but was very orientated.
This was the worst meal we ever had in the world. Overcharged, got the wrong meals, food not cooked, service slow even though no-one eating at the time, reduced menu and then didn't even have one of the five they offered. Very poor for coeliac...dietary requirements. Not good enough at all. I would have given no stars but you have to give one.More
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The servers were fun and friendly. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was really cool. If you go, you have to go downstairs. If we every make it back to Galway, we'll be back to this...place for food, fun and drinks.More
Lovely outdoor seating available with lots of searing indoors too. Good food and very friendly, efficient staff.
I was here with my husband this weekend and had a great experience. Lovely meal and great service. Served by Ryan, a gentleman. Would highly recommend. COVID restrictions were also abided by
Ate here recently with some friends, great place, yummy food and awesome staff, Tommy was our server and he was amazing, couldn't do enough for us, will definitely be back!!
I visited McCabes in August with 3 friends from Scotland. We all had Burgers and they were the best we had ever tasted. The service was exemplary in these difficult time and despite the distance I will definitely return to this gem.
