While in Galway for the weekend we (a group of 6) stumbled across this restaurant and we were all so glad we did. We all love our food and have very high standards so we can be quite hard to please.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming all covid precautions were taken both when entering and while in the restaurant. The restaurant itself was very clean, welcoming and cozy with a relaxed but special occasion feeling atmosphere.
The food was amazing, we all had starters, mains and only some had dessert. For starters I had the calamari, the others had minestrone soup and bruschetta and all were perfectly presented and tasted amazing.
Main courses we had were, pizza, seafood risotto, mushroom risotto, garlic mushroom & pancetta tagliatelle and the seafood tagliatelle. All meals were enjoyed by us, with one of us only leaving food behind because they were full. There was lots of ohhhs and ahhs as we ate and complemented the food as we soaked up the atmosphere.
The wine selection was small but covered every angle needed to complement the food, there was bottled beers and soft drinks along with complementary still water served at the table.
Tiramisu is all I need to say about dessert oh my god it was totally amazing and I didn’t want it to end, it was so light and tasty and just perfect. To be honest I was so engrossed in my tiramisu I didn’t pay any attention to the others desserts but they all said they were very nice and were jealous of mine.
The price for the quality of food was very reasonable and we all said we would definitely love to go back and try everything on the menu.
My only complaint is that I live too far away from this restaurant for it to be a regular of mine.
We all just want to say a massive thank you for the food drink and hospitality we shared with you and we can’t wait for our next trip to Galway.

We visited place on Saturday night, I had it booked for certain time but got delayed and got time moved no problem, once we arrived service was very good. Food and wine were absolutely brilliant, waitresses and waiter always asked if we needed anything with smile and good manners
Was great service, good price, and great quality overall.
Definitely will come back!😎

Went to Osteria with a group of friends a couple of weeks ago and we haven’t stopped raving about the food since. The menu has so much choice, everything is very affordable and all the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. All of the staff were so lovely and I can’t wait to eat there again the next time I’m in Galway.

Only one of the servers was Italian which didn’t give a particularly good impression and they were quite abrupt. My wife had the arrabbiata which was incredibly spicy. We had an Indian the night before and it was no where near as hot. We mentioned this to one of the waitresses and she just laughed. We mentioned it again to the Italian waiter when we paid the bill and all he said that literally it translates as angry sauce. We have had arrabbiata at a number of other restaurants including several in Italy without any problem.

I ordered spaghetti Bolognese and my partner and daughter got canneloni and pepperoni pizza for takeaway. It was our first time ordering from Osteria Italiana and I must say I was impressed! All of the ingredients were fresh and even the mozzarella cheese on the pizza was really good. The canneloni was really creamy and the pizza was very crispy. We often go on holidays to Italy so we are familiar with Italian cuisine and this place was nearly the real deal! Looking forward to ordering again, Thanks guys :)

We were told it would take 20-30 minutes for our order to be delivered. After an hour and a half of waiting we were told unless we could collect the order, it would be cancelled. This would have been fine if they called us an hour earlier, instead they left it until they were closed and it was too late to order from any other restaurant!

we are very sorry for the long wait you had for your dinner,that unfortunately never arrived.
We do not have our own drivers, but we cooperate with Deliveroo.
I can assure you that your order was prepared and taken on time,
but the Deliveroo driver had an accident while delivering your order and had to go to the hospital that day.
The driver forgot to reject your order, this is the reason Deliveroo didn't call you before.
This is not our fault because it is not our responsibility on delivering the food.

Seeing some of the good reviews my wife and I decided to book this restaurant on a Tuesday evening, during our short stay in Galway. A friendly sounding Alessio took our reservation over the phone and on arrival greeted us with genuine warmth and showed us to our table, after the registration formalities. The clean and simply decorated restaurant normally seats around 80 but reduced to around 40 due to the current restrictions. Alessio explained clearly what is suitable to us as the two of us are strict vegetarians. We placed our order for drinks and starter which came within 15 minutes. While we were pondering what to have for the main the ever so friendly and bubbly Ellerose, a university student, came to our rescue. She contacted the chef and arranged some minor variation to suit our requirements. The main course including some French fries (cooked on its own without any cross contamination!) came within another 20 minutes. The restaurant had several other customers who all seem to be enjoying their meal. While the menu is predominantly suited for non vegetarians, they had a number of options for Vegetarians and Vegans. Towards the end another university post graduate student, Lei came to attend on us. I really wanted to try their Tiramisu but reluctantly decided to give it a miss as I was really full up. The restaurant is on street level and accissible for wheelchair users. Toilets were kept clean. I certainly recommend this restaurant for anyone out for an Italian meal in Galway. Authentic Italian restaurant in downtown Galway was a terrific find!
We started with the calamari appetizer,so fresh and crunchy and the pasta dish of agnolotti de carne was meat filled pasta with a mouth watering tomato sauce that was absolutely delicious. It tasted like I was in Italy and hearing the Italian accents from the wonderful staff made us feel like we were there too.
If you’re in the mood for Italian don’t hesitate to visit Osteria Italiana!

Overall, this place was of a poor standard. Service was haphazard but we would have gotten over that if the food was good.
Pasta was ok but over flavoured, sauces the same. Pizzas are very average and all I can say is that this standard of food would be laughed at in Italy in general.
Finally a special mention goes to the chips... Seeing them on the menu as part of the one the most expensive dishes (pan fried chicken with pesto sauce) made me a little suspicious of what was to come and sadly I was right...any place that calls itself a restaurant and plays on their Italian roots should be ashamed to serve up the cheapest frozen chips available...they were ably abetted by an awful salad though!

We are very sorry to disappoint your expectations.
I guarantee that our products are of the highest quality, many imported directly from Italy such as peeled tomatoes San Marzano, mozzarella Fior di latte , pizza flour Caputo, extra virgin olive oil, etc……
In the past 5 years that we are open we also cooked for many Italians who come on holiday to Galway and most of them told us that with our food they felt at home for a moment.
My question is:
Have you ever gone to Italy to eat?
However we don't use frozen chips.
I don't understand how a salad can be awful.
Our salad is set of various types of salads like (Radicchio, little gem, green leaf, curled endive) served with plum tomatoes and dressing.

My family and some family friends visited the restaurant tonight. Although it was very busy everything was excellent. From the food, to the atmosphere, the wine, as well as the service. Despite it being so busy all the waitresses were very kind and attentive to all our questions and needs. Definetly reccomend the place to anyone and everyone! The calabrese pasta, pollo pizza and tiramisu were our favourites so definetly try them out if you visit 😊

We had dinner here and found the Agnolotti di Carne main course portion very small and very bad value at nearly sixteen euro. It only took minutes to eat and had to order garlic bread afterwards to make up for it. The wine too was very expensive. Service was quick but there were only three tables taken. Would not go back, there are loads of other places with better portions, value and atmosphere.

The three of us had a delicious dinner last night. The staff was so welcoming and attentive and patiently explained the numerous scrumptious dishes to choose between. We all loved our meals and had enough left over to savor for lunch. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread for an appetizer, and for the main courses we had the fettuccine with pesto, the tortelli with porcini and the lasagna. All three dishes were fresh, homemade and delectable. The wine list was extensive. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but the cheesecake looked devine!! We will definitely be back for another meal!!

I went to this restaurant going on the good reviews which seem good. So I got a glass of red wine which was not very nice, for my starter I got calamari which was horrible looked like they came out of a packed. My next course was risotto with fish again fish didn't take fresh and the rice had no flavour I was not feeling good the rest of the night. I don't think this restaurant is worth going to awful

We took our daughter here for her 8th Birthday meal and we were so impressed. Food was lovely but what really made the night was the brilliant staff and in particular the young Irish waitress who made our daughter feel so special......a fantastic memory for her to remember.
Very clean and Covid-19 safe.....we will be back!

We chose at random from Trip Advisor reviews and I can see why they get so highly rated! Absolutely superb food and service. Food is freshly prepared so I could ask the waiter to alter a dish to be 'meat free' which he did easily. Excellent wine selection and not ridiculously priced! All in all a GREAT place to eat! Thoroughly recommended!
