We ate here our first night, after a long day of travel, and it was exactly what we needed and wanted. Warm, good food. Friendly staff and a cozy place. The Stew was the talk of the entire night as we loved it. In fact,...we ate the same meals on our last night in Galway. Such a great spot.More

A group of friends visiting Galway for a pre Christmas break. We visited 1520 for a pint last Friday morning and were greeted by the most welcoming and pleasant staff I have had the pleasure to encounter in many years. Eclectic gathering of locals, Americans...and Irish tourists. The barman whose name I didn't get, included us all in a conversation He started, an old and much missed skill. Thoroughly enjoyed our few hours there, brought me back to pre celtic tiger days of real honest to God Irish craic. Foodwise the Tribal Fry is probably the best breakfast We have ever had. To the Management of 1520, Don't change anything, you can't improve perfection. Thank You.More

A lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Friendly welcome, good beer and huge portions. Interesting old fashioned decor.

We were in 1520 for lunch and drinks, were we were greeted by friendly helpful staff. The establishment is clean and inviting while food is tasty. Good selection of food and beer. I recommend to try this place. One complaint is a previous dish is...no longer available steak slices on chips with garlic, parmesan cheese and scallions was lovely.More

Great place to sit and have a drink or to have dinner. We went for dinner on our first night and the food was amazing. We also went back on our last night and the food was still just as good. Staff were so helpful...as my fiend has allergies and they went out of their way to accommodate us.More

Popped by for a bite to eat outside. The staff were very friendly and were kind enough to provide a water bowl for the dog, though we had some bad luck with a faulty chair that toppled backwards… thankfully no injuries incurred other than damage...to pride. The cajun chicken sandwich (with a choice of chips or soup) I ordered went down really well, as did the Irish breakfast. Shame about the chair business, but would definitely make a return visit.More

We went for dinner and drinks and it was wonderful. I had the Mediterranean vegetables, and my husband and friend had the steak sandwiches. The flavour on all the food was amazing and it had a great atmosphere all round. Service has room for improvement...but it is a pub after all. I look forward to going back again.More

My son and I shared the Gambas Al Ajilo which comes with ciabatta, the hummus which comes with pesto, harissa oil and more bread, the olives which comes with alioli and bread; and the chips with garlic and parmesan. The plates were all large and...had plenty of food on to share. The parmesan and garlic fries were really delicious and was a really large portion to share. The prawns were delicious as were all the olives, hummus and the bread etc. There was far to much food for us to finish at the time so we ended up taking half home for later. The waitresses were really nice and helpful. I highly recommend for sharing plates and would definitely come again for the delicious tasting food.More

Even though it was a busy Bank Holiday weekend in Galway city, the staff were super friendly and attentive. The lunch we had was delicious all round but the stand out point was the INCREDIBLE cocktails we had. Delicious and a work of art. My...friends and I spent a great Sat afternoon catching up together in this lovely pub. Highly recommend!More

The food here us absolutely fantastic! And we came in during a nice Irish music duo early in the evening on a Tuesday. The Lamb Shoulder entree was so delicious and plentiful, and at a price that can’t be beat anywhere else we ate this...week in Galway. Kudos to the chef. My husband had the Tribal Burger and said it was perfectly cooked. The fries were very good too ( I sneaked a few!)More

The food was just ok. Overall, just disappointing. There were other restaurants and bars that were much better and in walking distance.

Drank in this bar for the evening. Bar was very quite. However we Bought our last round. No one said ye have 2 be finished in 5 mins. There was a late Bar across the street that we could have gone 2. Disgraceful behaviour from...security. This was a family outing. We were treated so disrespectfully and literallythrown out of bar. Will never go here again. Lots of nice bars in galway City. Give this one a miss.More
