A family visit with a range of ages and everyone was very happy with their food. The prawn starter was a major hit as was the carpaccio fillet of beef. However if you are charging these prices the service needs to be improved. While all the staff were very friendly and professional they were not attentive, maybe there was not enough staff on for a full restaurant. If you have to get up from your table to retrieve your wine ( which has been placed away from you for service ) as all glasses are empty then something has gone wrong !

Took some clients to Kirwan's Lane - it was another amazing feast. Two of my guests are vegitarian and their selection were fabulous. Another guest had mussels to start and hake for mains he was very impressed. One other guest had soup of the day and fillet steak which he said was scrumptious. I had duck for mains and meat fell off the bone. All in all another wonderful evening of wonderful atmosphere and food. Service was very attentive.

We had so looked forward to a return visit to Kirwan’s restaurant in Galway we booked a table as soon as the lockdown was lifted over the summer, to the extent of allowing diners to sit outside in the heated terrace, protected by windbreakers and a canopy. These precautions were indeed justified as one of the lashing rainstorms particular to the west of the country, provided the soundtrack for our meal – an experience of itself. We had the seafood chowder to start, delicious and warming in the circumstances followed up by a main course of grilled turbot, Baby Carrot, Sundried tomato & Basil Croquettes, Caper and Lemon butter with side orders of new potatoes and asparagus with Bearnaise Sauce - the “King of Fish” in a meal fit for a king! For drinks we had Pichon Chardonnay Blanc (Loire Valley, 2018, very smooth) and a Jamesons' whiskey as a nightcap.
This is a delightful location, approached from a narrow cobbled traffic-free lane off of Quay Street at one end and Quay Street at the other. A great place to relax in the fresh air, away from the all bustle - highly recommended.

Came here for dinner last night at the recommendation of our hotel staff. We did not have a reservation but were able to get a table, probably because it was a Mon night. We were greeted right away and were seated upstairs. Service was very good - attentive and efficient.
We were offered water right away and our server took our drink orders shortly after. They have a good selection of wine and a few beers but NO cocktails. The menu is fairly extensive, with several good options. I went with the seafood chowder and thoroughly enjoyed it - probably one of the best I've tried. Then I had the seafood linguine. The mussels and clams were tiny, which was a bit disappointing, considering this is the west coast of Ireland and a seafood restaurant. The shrimps were good size but was not the freshest. The dish itself was tasty though. We were too full to try desserts. Prices were reasonable for an upscale restaurant. I would return if ever in the area again.

We ate in Kirwins last night as a group of 6 people including family, partners and friends having being recommended by a friend. We were sat at a beautiful table upstairs. Tibo our waiter had excellent banter and made everyone feel very welcome from the outset. A real professional! First we were given fresh homemade bread with cheese, onion and a few other bits baked in. Very tasty. For starters, the duck bon bons with cherry jus. Incredible! Then the steak which was cooked perfectly and I couldnt fault it. The stand out dish was probably the white chocolate and raspberry upside down cheesecake with raspberry sorbet. Excellent service, excellent food. Top marks!

From the minute we walked in we were made to feel special. Service was attentive, but not over bearing. Our server was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The food was exquisite. We would have given it a five star review, but for the house wine, which unfortunately did not match the quality of the food and to be honest the whole wine list was a bit pricey and there was not much variety. This should not stop anyone going there it is a proper Galway treat.

Got a tip, and locals kept saying it was one of the top restaurants in Galway. The staff, chef, food didn’t disappoint! It has been the best meal I’ve had in Ireland!! Top two memorable meals I’ve had in Europe through the years, only comparing with a steak I had in Paris. Chef absolutely hit home run with his surf n turf 👏👏 and I think it was a crab mix appetizer the manager recommended, I’ve never had anything so fresh. This is a must eat in Galway!

Sat at the bar in anticipation of a great meal. Menus were slow to come and after ordering a bottle of wine and oysters our server disappeared to be replaced by another who also disappeared. We flagged down a young man who was running plates out from the kitchen who helped us with additional food, dessert and our check. None of the other servers checked in on us, thought we might have become invisible. If they work as a team serving tables it didn't work for us.

It was mong the worst experiences ever had in a restaurant, so I feel the duty to share it. Once we were seated we were told that 1/3 of the menu was not available, "fine", however after we ordered the food it was shared with us that another main was not available...eventually this left us with a really limited selection. Nevertheless we decided to stay and we ordered the wine. Once arrived we did notice by ourselves that it was not the same year as the one we ordered. At this point we asked at least some justification and the situation to be adjusted but the manager pretended for the wine to be the same despite a sensitive difference in terms of quality and years and challenged us to explain why we were claiming an unfair treatment. We provided some key principles in terms of wine but finally it was enough and we left. The staff was really rude and justified such behaviour because it's a "busy restaurant" - regardless the early bird hour. The manager was "politically correct" trying to defend the restaurant but the arguments used were offensive and arrogant.

Waiting staff very professional, discrete, attentive, knowledgeable. Fab wine recommendations, didn't just direct us to the most expensive options but listened to what we were looking for and their recommendations were spot on. One of our party has extremely fussy dietary requirements and the restaurant never batted an eyelid about all the special requests.
Food was delicious and lovely presentation, not too fussy. Cant believe I'm over 10 years living in Galway and my first time here!

Excellent meal for two on this first night of restaurants post pandemic. Plate of Oysters, Cauliflower soup, Salmon and Ballotine of Chicken all exquisite. We went for the house white which was a delicious Chilean Terranoble Sauv Blanc. Lots of experience with Chilean wines having lived there and it is an excellent wine. Staff very attentive. Highly recommended.

Visited on Jan 2nd with my wife. Had 2 excellent starters, Gambas on sourdough and Oysters. For mains I had excellent scallops with accompanying belly pork with a side of fresh crisp mixed veg. My wife had Sea Bass with tagliatelle. Unfortunately the chef had a very heavy hand with the salt and my wife only partially ate it but enjoyed the boiled potatoes and shared the veg. At plate pick up we mention it to the friendly waitress, in order that the chef be informed but didn’t make a big issue. A partial reduction may have been appropriate but upon receipt of the bill the Sea Bass wasn’t charged. More than fair outcome and deserves acknowledgment. We tipped accordingly. Our meal was accompanied by an enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon. We will be back…..

This was probably our best dinner in Ireland, and maybe the most expensive, but it was well worth it! The local oysters were some of the best I have ever had, and I have tasted oysters from different regions of the world. My entree was "fish and chips", but don't let the name fool you. It was fresh, light and delicious. We were seated on the first floor, and enjoyed the fine decor and cosy atmosphere. The server was very attentive, pleasant and clearly knowledgeable about the menu. I strongly recommend it!

Oyesters were really really small for the price (3€ each!). King scallops were just regular and even small scallops, charged 33€ for 6 pieces. I grew up in a city next to the sea and I'm used to seafood. What they propose here is definitely not in line with the expectations behind the name of the restaurant. Even if rare in the inside as requested, the Sirloin steak was burnt on the outside. The staff was really kind, but this restaurant is definitely not worth the price..

This was my third visit to Kirwan's in recent years and it never fails to impress. Both of us had the Pork belly starter which was delicious and followed this with pan fried fish of the day with seasonal veg. Well done to all at Kirwans.
