Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff were absolutely lovely and very accommodating, all Italian from what we could tell. We were in a rush to eat because we had somewhere to be but we explained this to our waiter and the food arrived within minutes. Food was delicious too, and...nice atmosphere inside - busy despite being late on a Sunday evening. Will definitely go back, 10/10 experience!More

I hesitated before writing this review because I work in the industry and I know how hard everyone is working these days. That said, and for that reason, I think it's only fair to go ahead. I think this restaurant benefits from a wonderful setting...opposite the sea and has the potential to deliver on the one-liner's on its home page, but the powers that be have obviously decided to dedicate some serious budget to PR and not half enough to what's happening in the kitchen and ultimately, what goes out on the plate. There are some lovely photos and tag lines on the website but the real-life experience is utter tat. Organically farmed veg? Picked on the day? Who are you kidding? Get real. We ordered the suppli and a salad to start. The suppli couldn't have been more bland, seriously lacking any seasoning and cold in the centre. Long and tube-shaped, evidently not home made and not made from scratch. The salad was one of the laziest things I have ever seen, nothing more than a bunch of leaves (bigger than the average hand and which needed a serrated knife to cut through) thrown on the plate with one large round of red onion (not a slice of red onion, just one ring) and black olives which tasted like a sponge that had been dipped in the puddle outside the door. The risotto we ordered was so overcooked that the rice was essentially... well, mush. I was really looking forward to the 'linguine con gameri y pollo' (yes I know, there's a typo on their menu) described as being served with sun-dried tomatoes "infused with a light cream, garlic and basil sauce with cherry tomatoes". The pasta was properly cooked, al dente as it should be, but in the midst of the pasta I dug out three enormous pieces of sun-dried tomatoes which must have been thrown in straight from the bag/jar they arrived in without bothering to cut them into any shape or size appropriate for eating. There was absolutely no garlic, no basil sauce, and nary a cherry tomato to be seen, not even a smattering of chopped parsley but a five branched leaf of parsley placed lazily on top of a bland, again unseasoned, dish. The steak was well cooked and the fries were lovely but the cream of pepper sauce tasted like mayonnaise which had been thinned out with a cheap oil and an added dash of black pepper. The waiting staff were lovely but they need to get a professional in to do some proper front of house training, and they need to get rid of the comical 'would you like some black pepper' routine with the pepper mill. Those days are over!! As are the days of the 1980s sawdust that the waiting staff sprinkle in place of true grated Parmesan cheese over customer's dishes. It is not that it has dried out from sitting in the icing-sugar dredger-style receptacle that they use, it is because it is NOT real Parmesan cheese. It has absolutely no flavour, no hint of salt, no hint of umami and certainly no hint of the lovely mouth feel which comes with real Parmesan cheese, grated or not. It's an utter piss-take. The entire experience was unbelievably bad for a restaurant which advertises as they do. We were speechless. Don't go. There are so many great places to eat these days and so many people working really really hard all over Ireland at making good, authentic, tasty food and they are the ones that deserve your money. Right nearby is a great spot for real fish and chips for example, and of course the iconic Teddy's ice cream parlour, both of which are worth anyone's money, any day of the week.More

A family of 5 booked this restaurant for a Birthday celebration this evening. We really love Italian food and holiday in Italy every year. The food was greatly overpriced and not good. My husband ordered Lasagne and it arrived within a few mins, cold in...the middle. We sent it back and waited 15 minutes for a replacement, by which time we had eaten our own food. The waitress was very apologetic and polite. I suggested when we requested the bill that it should obviously reflect the fact that we all failed to eat at the same time and being served cold food! She said she spoke with her manager and they would be prepared to discount the bill by a mere 10%!! I would not recommend this restaurant. It is serving overpriced, poor quality Italian food, with no regard for customers or their experience . Such a lovely location, overlooking the sea, the view and our waitress was the only thing pleasant about this establishment this lovely summer evening.More

Unfortunately my experience at this restaurant was pretty bad. The group I was travelling in was hungry and we could not find tables in any traditional pubs so we went for this one. As a disclaimer I must say that I am Italian:) First of...all the worst thing of all: the quality of food was very low, it was simply not tasty. The tomato sauce used for the soup could have been the one from the discounter abd the tomatoes used in the caprese salad had really no taste. The portion of the caprese included 3 tiny pieces of mozzarella, 3 tiny pieces of tomatoes and bit of avocado. The others with me ordered pizza which they described as one of the worst pizzas every eaten (and one of those who said that is German, so no Italian excuse ;) ). The second worst thing is the price: sorry but 20 euros for a pizza is already far too much and 20 euros for such a bad pizza is really not fair. I am very sorry to give such a bad review and I never do it, but this time I think I should warn at least Italian tourists not to go there. The only Italian thing is the name and the music maybe, nothing else. Even the menu is written in a very bad Italian which is already a sign that none there is actually Italian or can make Italian cousine, maybe you can check on google translate before printing a menu and also visit Italy and learn how to cook properly or else drastically reduce the price. However I think the locals are generally happy with that restaurant but maybe they have no clue what real Italian kitchen looks like. Last but not least the personnel is unpleasant. Although the price was really exagerated for what we received we still gave them some tips (not much because we already paid 20 euro for an awful pizza so I am pretty sure there was already a great margin done on that) and they very unpolitely gave me the tip back because it was not enough. If you want to eat properly stay away from this place!More

Totally overpriced and very poor food and service . Two of the mains had to be sent back as they were basically under cooked. It was very busy as it was Easter weekend but still very poor service and the bill was outrageous at 300...for 3 adults and 4 kidsMore

Ate here with a client on a nice balmy Thursday evening, the restaurant was busy but not overly so and there was a great mix of people eating and there was a really nice vibe. Brought straight to the table and our waitress was outstanding....I love Italian food and Toscana did not disappoint, the Antipasto Alla Italiano was great and my main course the Risotto Al Frutti Di Mara was light, fluffy and has a more than ample amount if fish in it. My client had the Nasello Di Parmigiano, a herb crusted hake fillet and really enjoyed it. The house red a Monetepulciano D’Abrozzo- Castellani was perfect and the overall meal left me in that special place that is full, happy but not stuffed, If you are in Dún Laoghaire and looking for a great evening meal than I’d highly recommend trying Toscana.More
