Monday 7th December last turned into a very special afternoon. After being in lockdown for months due to low immunity from a boring long term illness, my good friend and I were able to have lunch at an outside table in Toscano's Dunlaoghaire. It was...wonderful to find such a good restaurant with outside tables and came with my chef son's recommendation. It had been raining all morning with the sun just out when we arrived and the staff were kind and attentive from the start. They cleared the rain water away from our outside table, disinfected it, brought out cushions for me and then determined efforts by three people finally had the outside heater lit for us. I had Bruschetta Con Pomodoro to start, fresh tomatoes in basil and olive oil on crispy bread, followed by Polla ala Florentina [chicken fillet in a gorgeous mushroom sauce] and my friend had prawns on a lovely salad. My lunch was served with carrots, beautifully al dente not drowned, and a choice of baked potatoes or chips. I had the baked potato. A starter, two main courses, two glasses of wine, a soft drink and three cups of coffee, served at their suggestion with piping hot milk to warm us up, came to 75 euros between us. Very reasonable for such a lovely treat. I appreciated that they had stated on their website that 'gratuities are greatly appreciated but at your discretion' and we were happy to give a Christmas tip. Highly recommended.More

I came here with a friend last night for dinner and ordered a negroni and the “Penne Primavera” dish, which was listed as vegetarian. Upon ordering, I informed the server that I was vegan, which he noted. However, midway through eating my pasta dish I...found ground beef in the sauce which I spat out. I didn’t want to make a fuss so checked through the dish and couldn’t see any more meat so continued eating my meal and tried to forget about it. However, I then found another piece of ground beef, which I spat out and I decided not to finish the rest of the dish. We were seated outside so when the waiter came out to check if we had finished I politely informed him that there had been meat in my dish, as I knew it was of course not his fault. However, he was not the friendliest and didn’t seem to believe me and I was made to feel as though I were lying when this was not the case. I really hate making a fuss in restaurants, but to be honest, this was unacceptable. He eventually shrugged and apologised and we were offered dessert menus which we declined. No one came to speak to me about the error and when the waiter came back outside to serve another table we asked for the bill. When he returned with our bill, the waiter apologised and informed me that he had taken off my dish and that the kitchen had been “surprised” to hear that there had been meat in my dish. I still felt as though no one actually believed me and he thought that I had made the whole thing up in order to get a free meal. I work in the same industry so it is particularly frustrating to be treated like a liar and forced to defend myself over something that really shouldn’t have happened. As someone who hasn’t eaten meat in over 5 years it was an extremely upsetting thing to have happened. Needless to say, neither myself or my friend will be returning to the establishment.More

We ordered two different fish dishes, both were amazing. In my case the restaurant was without trout, so I was offered tuna in the place, and it was absolutely a blast of flavor. Meanwhile the tuna was accompanied by a very tasty and well served...“tower” of potato slices, the sea bass (picture) was served with ratatouille, very remarkable, felt like chef Remy cooked it for us. If you are around Dun Laoghaire and fancy a great fish plate, I would definitely pay a visit to them. About the covid 19, the restaurant respected the guidelines with no problems.More

I ate here last week with my partner. We hadn't got a booking but they sat us quickly. I had the chicken pasta in a truffle sauce and my partner had a seafood pasta. We both thought the sauce was a bit watery. The waiter...took our dinner plates and didn't offer any dessert. We had to ask for the menu to which he looked annoyed. He walked off and we were left waiting for about 10 minutes before he gave us the menu. When we finished our desserts and asked for the bill the waiter just said 'ok' which we thought was quite short and rude. Overall, we thought service could have been friendlier and the food was quite pricey for the quality. As someone who works in the service industry, I would always cut wait staff more slack but there are no excuses for bad service. I won't be back.More

Didnt even stay for the meal ! The service was so intimidating. We ordered our meal from A La Carte Menu , We we 30 Mins too early for the Early bird, but thats OK. We asked to taste the wine before we ordered the...bottle for our meal. (My friend is very fussy on wine) and you know thats OK The manager followed the waiter and told us we would have to pay for our wine testing. It was like we were 2 bold children, (Actually we are 2 older but beautiful ladies) We love food and eating out. This was one of our worst experiences. Post Covid and all happening, what a stupid stance to take. I went down the road and had a Fab meal in Bistro Le Monde opposite the dart station, This I would recommend, Nothing to much trouble, selected our wine tru a taste and the fish was devine. I was much happier to part with my money for such good service and food.More

Here on a cold windy night & the restaurant was quite empty. I had the venison which was tasty but not much meat instead it had a handful of fat by the time I finished my meal. I showed it to the waiter as I...had pushed on to the rim of the plate when he was collecting the plates, said nothing. My wife had the duck which was nice. Not sure that I will be rushing back.More

My meat and fries were divine! however the pasta sauce looked like it was from a can and was less than average. Service was good and atmosphere pleasant.

Food was mediocre at best. Very expensive. Pasta overcooked. Shellfish obviously frozen and tasteless. I’d recommend staying away. Very expensive mistake for us.
