On my lunch time walk popped into Urbanity in Smithfield just off Arran Quay and behind Frank Ryans pub. This is a welcome contribution to the transformation of Smithfield in recent times where there is a modern world appearing populated by global neighbourhood of young and old adding to a wonderful atmosphere that has replaced the coal yards, scrapyards and derelic buildings that stood neglected for decades. Soup is my favourite fuel and so I decided to experience what Urbanity had to offer. My first visit I was not mad about the focaccia bread but I was very impressed by the girl who I mentioned it to who without the slightest hesitation offered me an alternative or a coffee instead. My second visit was faultless and I went for the sourdough which was heated and delicious along with a small side salad and a delicious soup. I intend to try out some other items on the menu in the near future but with staff who are so friendly and focussed on keeping the customer satisfied this is a hidden gem with great tasting food and staff who make all the difference.

Myself and my friend went for a lovely lunch in Urbanity today. We were greeted by friendly staff and ordered their homemade lemonade while we waited for our food...good music always playing in the background. I had a very tasty blt and my friend had the couscous salad. Both were delicious and a seriously generous portion. We got hot drinks and a sweet treat to go and I will definitely be back again. Never disappoints :)

The interior of this coffee place is very stylish, perfect for a weekend brunch! What was funny is that we were served food before beverage, plus the service was a bit dosorganized in general (we were asked 5 fimes how many people are we). Still, the food was incredible. Especially the strawberry waffles are a must!

Hands down best cafe/lunch spot I've stumbled upon, was immediately greated by the friendly staff and the incredible aroma of coffee which I found out they roast themselves. The uniqueness of Urbanity doesn't stop there, the menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouth watering creations. I myself opted for the special which was a steamed haddock which tasted just as beautiful as it looked. The atmosphere and the creativity here is one unlike no other resteraunt in Dublin. Highly reccomened this gem to anyone. Will be back. Soon!

Had a really enjoyable casual dine-out with a friend in the sun in Urbanity today. Given that city centre is running thin on dining options, it's great to see a place in Smithfield making proper use of the courtyard space. Staff were friendly, the tables were clean and spaced appropriately, and you would almost forget you were dining al fresco. I really enjoyed the chicken burger, was speedy and had a wonderful depth of flavour and served with smiling eyes. I opted for a lemonade as I was caffeined out for the day and really enjoyed it, the homemade recipe has a little fermented kick to it, very pleasant. My friend really enjoyed his cappucino, and from previous visits, these guys don't mess around when it comes to coffee, despite having the appearance of a diner. Promising to see businesses like Urbanity consistently adapt and deliver quality even in punishing times for the industry. Top crew.

Wow where to begin in these unprecedented times urbanity is a hidden gem in Dublin’s Smithfield I had the lamb kofta with poached egg my god it was delicious. However different people have different tastes but one thing that everyone would have the same opinion on is the quality of the service. There was three servers all were polite and welcoming but barista Oisin went above and beyond his job description made great coffee great recommendations and gave us some of the best service I’ve gotten in a long time. Urbanity is a restaurant not to be missed especially when Oisin is working.

I visited Urbanity after being recommended it by a work colleague (friend). Great recommendation as the food and service was lovely. You can tell the ingredients are very fresh and the food is prepared with good care. Sandwich and soup convo is an absolute winner, and reasonably priced as well. One of the best flat whites I've had, coffee is next level stuff

Went for a quick brunch and ordered the ‘Korean’ chicken and waffle which was very, very poor. The chicken was more akin to the chicken dippers of my childhood. Baffling as to how they feel it’s appropriate to serve breadcrumbed chicken and deem it Korean just to be ‘on trend’. The kimchi waffle was also extremely heavy and doughy with no sign of any kimchi either in flavor or appearance. The honey sauce was nice and flavorful but would be more suited to actual Korean fried chicken. Certainly not worth 15 euro or anywhere close. Also, they don’t serve decaf coffee , and the caffeine-free alternatives (turmeric/ginger latte) were out of stock.

Hi travelmore112013, We are sorry that your visit did not meet your expectations. The Korean chicken and waffle dish that you had has been very popular and received very good feedback. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy it and would have happily attempted to remedy your dissatisfaction had you voiced it to a member of the team at the time. We do not put dishes on our menu in order to be "on trend". We decide on a theme each month and shape the menu around it. The dishes that we create are generally ones that are inspired by our travels with an Urbanity twist - it's food that we like to eat. It's unfortunate that this dish wasn't to your taste, however, had you made us aware of this, we would have happily offered an alternative. There are no breadcrumbs on the chicken at all, so we are perplexed by this comment. Also, the chicken that we use is Ring's organic chicken, so you must have been eating exceptional chicken dippers as a child! We have several caffeine-free beverages available other than our popular, house-made turmeric and ginger latte, which sells out from time to time. Thanks for your custom and hopefully a future visit will be more positive.

Very nice place, appropriate to its location. Grungy, vaguely industrial interior design, but happily, not too many big beards or skinny jeans. Refectory layout. All good. The sort of place you'd be happy to meet up for a chat or a quick business meeting. Staff were pleasant, engaging and efficient. Helpful and friendly. All good. The food? Well we all know that the environmental health officers tend to go a bit overboard, especially when it comes to cooking minced beef or lamb. As a result, restaurants always try to err on the safe side and that's understandable. But when the safe side involves your minced lamb being brown and crunchy, it's time to say "No thanks". If I want brown and crunchy, I'll burn the popcorn, and it won't cost me €15. The rest of the menu is probably perfectly delicious but I can only comment on what I had myself and to be fair, maybe I caught them on an off day. The presentation was very good. To sum up. Lovely people, nice place. Didn't have a chance to check out everything on the menu, but these things are a lottery. Maybe it's time for the chef to have another look at the shawarma. If brown and crunchy is part of the plan, maybe leave it off the menu. I will, however, go back and try something else, just to be fair.

We were staying at The Henrick hotel around the corner & popped in here for breakfast on our first morning in Dublin. Smart decor, great chilled out atmosphere & a warm welcome. I had the scrambled egg dish, served on toasted soar dough bread, with smashed greens. The best scrambled egg dish I have ever had & will do myself at home. My wife had porridge with braised pineapple & pineapple compost. She also said it was amazing. This is a proper independent business with a real passion for what they do. Top class!

Have come in here before lots to grab a coffee and go but never to sit down and eat. Decided in a pandemic there's no better time to sit in now 😂 The level of sanitizing and socal distancing here is first class. All the staff have masks on too. - And are genuinely really nice, always such a plus. Place is well spaced out and full of natural light. The food is incredible, especially the cauliflower in the halloumi on toast with egg. The fella hates cauliflower and I was near stabbing him with a fork over it. I'd the lemon tart after and it was lovely, along with a gorgeous strong 'real' coffee. That stuff would set you up for the day or cure a hang over. Will definitely be coming back here to eat again, as well as continue to pick up a coffee on the go. Couldn't recommend the place enough. (Also it's dog friendly and they make their own dog biscuits!🐕)

We got the French toast with lime crème fresh and stem ginger and the Korean fried chicken waffles. It was a difficult choice because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded incredible, from fantastic twists on classics to new exiting choices. Most importantly the dishes we had looked and tasted incredible. Phenomenal flavour combinations. Delicious cold brew coffee with a slice of orange too. Service was great, extremely friendly and helpful. Couldn’t recommend enough, very high on the list of great places for lunch/brunch that I’ve been in Dublin.

Quite hard to find somewhere that does excellent coffee and food but Urbanity does both! Chemex and espresso are both excellent and roasted in house. I bought some beans to bring home with me. I had the brown sugar waffles which were not too sweet and very flavourful. Beautifully presented. On a previous visit I had the tomato and herb scrambled eggs which were also delicious! Will definitely visit again.

Amazing brunch! The one that you will remember long after you leave Dublin. They have both a great staple menu, but one with incredible specials too. Proteins get a starring role here. The duck and pork dishes made me do a healthy internal debate because they both sounded amazing. The love the variety of sweet and savory options too. The best! This farm to table style brunch was honestly the best and wish I could venture back on the regular!

This place is a find! The front-of-house bearded guy could not have been more helpful and made lots of suggestions regarding what we could choose within our dietary requirements. The decor is great and there's a nice, relaxed atmosphere with no sense of being rushed when you've finished eating. The menu has plenty of choice and service was quick. As for the food - our brunch of mushrooms on toast were sensational and the portions were generous. I don't drink coffee but heard other people complimenting it. Everything was excellent.
