Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everything was lovely but my ramen noodles tasted and smelled like ammonia so l ate around them rather than complain. I googled if it was dangerous to eat and apparently it's not but rather bad practise in the kitchen re the handling of the noodles...and the changing of the water they are in.More

Disappointed with the ramen. Flavourless broth and garlic oil tasted burnt and was far too much added to both dishes.Unpleasant experience.

The ramen was really good and I’m so glad I tried the prawn cracker nachos - wow, they were a stand out part to my whole trip to Dublin!

I've come to Ramen Bar several times, so this review is not focused on a single visit. Obviously, as it is a restaurant I've come to with regularity, this will be a majorly positive review. The place is in a central part of town, so...it is handy to just go almost randomly. It is usually quite busy but also fairly big, so usually you can get a table even if full as long as you're ok waiting. The decoration is quite nice, mixing traditional Japanese elements such as paper lamps or hannya masks along more modern pop Japanese inspired art (as seen in many tshirts these days) as well as posters of classic Japanese movies such as Kurosawa. The service is good, waiters might not be overflowing joy as they seem to be on a hurry from one table to another but it's not like they are rude by any means. But the reason you would come is the ramen, right? Still, they have some other dishes, out of which I would highlight their starters which are quite good. I would specially highlight the Prawn Cracker Nachos, which simply sound kinda wrong yet are fantastic, but specially the salmon tartare which is one of the tastiest things you can have in Dublin. I've brought plenty of friends and visitors and they all were amazed by it. There's also other main dishes, but I've never tried them as I find hard to go to a place called Ramen Bar and order a main other than ramen. Alright, let's go into the ramen now. I usually order tonkotsu or tonkotsu darkness. Sometimes the ramen is incredible. Sometimes it's alright. Sometimes it's somewhat disappointing. And it's impossible to tell before going. I don't know why, perhaps a different chef prepared it, perhaps they do not reliably measure the ingredients or cook times, perhaps they used different quality of ingredients, who knows. Whatever it is, there's a lack of consistency that's noticeable in the broth's taste, which is basically the ramen's soul and basically makes or breaks it. At least it's never bad! Last but not least, pricing. If you go early in the week the value is fantastic, as there's offers such as a starter and a ramen bowl for 15 euros which is quite cheap for Dublin. If you go closer to the weekend, these kind of offers are rarely (if ever) available, but still the price/quality remains quite good. While there might be better and/or more consistent options for a bowl of ramen, Ramen Bar is convenient enough to always stand out as an option anyway, and thus has become one of my regular restaurants to visit.More

I had the formula for 15 euros with Chicken Karagee and Tonkotsu Ramen. Chicken Karage were great but really disappointed about the ramen, especially the noodles that where not great and not enough flavour on the broth... Got the feeling that they are not as...good as few years ago or maybe it's because I was in Paris recently and they have increadible ramen there like in Japan such as the Kodawari ramen.More

Got the tonkatsu originalBroth tasted like bong water. Like an ash tray fell into the food. Server said it was supposed to smell like diesel, which I’ve never heard of any food meaning to smell like that. Group I was with agreed my food smelled...quite off. Will not be returning. Although the appetizers were good.More

Good choice of ramen, sadly only one vegan option (unless there is more but couldn’t see on the menu). Very surprised that it’s got an upstairs with plenty of seats at the front and at the back. Very quick service even though it was super...busy.More

Google rate fooled us as it was over 4 stars. We ordered two Tonkotsu Original ramen which waiter conveniently forgot to tell us that even their menu states it will be served with pork, it actually won't be. Ramen came with plain, dry chicken breast...that tasted like cardboard. Noodles wasn't better either, I think Vifon instant noodles tastes better. It was overcooked and slimy. Honestly I don't know why we didn't return them straight away. No one came in the middle of eating to ask us how's everything. At the end when we were paying, waiting staff asked how was everything, when I told him it was bad and weren't told about the chicken change, he just took a payment and walked away. Absolute disgrace. We won't be coming back.More

Second time to have ramen at the ramen bar,we both ordered Tonkotsu ,I had the red Tonkotsu which wasn't spicy . Broth was good but the temperature was not hot enough. The ramen was the worst I have ever eaten, overcooked . We both agreed that...the ramen was terrible. I had just spent a month in Japan and ate ramen 16 times so I have been spoiled but was really looking forward to having lunch in The Ramen bar. We only ate half the ramen, couldn't finish it even though we were hungry. Won't be back again.More

First time trying Ramen for us. We were very happy with our meal. The food was delicious and great value for money! We got the £15 lunch deal which included a bowl of ramen and a starter.

Stopped for dinner on a cool day hoping to warm up with a nice bowl of ramen. We warmed up by being packed in the restaurant really tight. Ramen was ok. Noodles were too soft and temperature wasn't hot enough. Not sure I'd return.

Given the size of the restaurant I recommend that you call in to make a reservation. I visited twice with a group of 5/6 and each time we encountered the restaurant nearly full. So yes, call in and make a reservation... More
