We popped into Kennedy’s after being recommended it by a barman at another pub we went into whose kitchen had just closed.
Although the pub was busy, we had no trouble finding a seat. When we sat down we didn’t wait long for someone to take our order for drinks.
Marisa had a white wine and I went for an Ambush Juicy IPA. For food Marisa ordered the chicken goujons and fries and I went for the beef and Guinness pie. Both amazing. Bill came in at 47 Euros.
The goujons were meant to be a starter but the portion size was massive. The pie, oh wow! Amazing gravy and a nice crispy topping.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and enjoyable food.

We picked this place because it was a short block from our hotel and Oscar Wilde worked here (not mention all the other literary history), so why not eat at an 1850's historical place.
We had no reservation, but they managed to squeeze us into a very, very crowded pub. Despite how slammed they were, our server was attentive as she could be and our food came out fairly quickly for how busy they were. My wife has a Guinness beef Irish stew (which was excellent), and I had fish and chips (also very good).
The place was very busy and very energetic. Because of this, we were not quite able to take in any historical or significant points of interest around the place, but we had a great experience nonetheless.

Very nice pub inside, we went there on our last evening in Dublin. We ordered a platter to share. It was for 5 people while there were three of us. Very filling. Too bad it was almost all spicy and spicy so we didn't like it 100%, price of the shared port €50. If there were 5 of us we would still all have eaten plenty. Live music is also nice (not Irish)

We could not finish our plates because the fish was tasteless, fat. What a regret to have come to this pub.
Caesar salad was great but no presentation (a bunch of salad leaves , pieces of chicken thrown over)
We were in front of the kitchen and we could observe the cooks and their way of working. To flee absolutely

If you have a young family, this is not the place to go in Dublin. We brought our daughter to The Bord Gais for Aladin for her 7th Birthday. We decided to go for something to eat on the walk back to the car, and decided to go to Kennedy's. I have been here with friends for drinks but never for food. Firstly, they had no kids menu which should have been a tell tail sign of what was to come. My girls are 7 and 8 years old. The establishment had only sausages or chicken goujons and chips on the menu as starters for kids choices. My girls don't eat chips/fries, so we asked them to switch the chips to rice for the kids. (They did a curry as a main so it is not like they did not have rice). We were told no, that we need to buy the chips with the meal and if we want rice, we need to purchase it as a side order as an extra charge. This is the first restaurant or hotel that has refused this request all over Ireland for us and Dublin is where i have lived all my life so I have been to many many places. They did not even offer a small surcharge to do it. Just point blankly said no and no explanation given. I can only presume it is a financial reason. This is poor customer service from a bar/restaurant that is meant to have a good name, especially when the request was for Children. Therefore, we handed back our menus and advised that we would not be ordering food. We finished our drinks and asked for the bill for them. The staff had faces of disgust when walking past us, as if we screamed at them which of course we did not. They became fairly rude. The girl serving us did not even say goodbye when we were leaving, looking away from us as we walked past. Let's just say, I will not be going back there and I suggest if you have a young family, stay clear of this establishment. They obviously don't want young families in there premises any time of the day. A pity but a very bad experience.

We were here for a meal on a Monday at 5pm. Not sure if we visited on an off day but the food was mediocre, no one asked us how it was and it was difficult to catch the attention of the waiting staff.
To be honest they seemed uninterested and unfriendly, took our plates without asking if we had finished and just walked off. Seconds later we were given the card machine even though we hadn’t asked for the bill or even asked if we wanted dessert or more drinks. I don’t think we would go back to be honest as plenty of other nearby bars

Sadly, a disappointing evening spent in what is usually a great a pub and food experience. Found the staff on duty to be extremely curt and abrupt, failed to listen to our food requests when taking our order, resulting in our main dishes having to be returned to the kitchen which was met by 2 very disgruntled grill chefs who made this known to us by moody looks through their open kitchen.
Manager handled our complaint well, but floor staff then decided to join the sulky kitchen group with looks and immediately presented us with our bill... which we had not requested. Methinks a training refresher for some staff needed.
Will not put me of returning as we all have bad days at work, but one is now wary of the kitchen.

Unfortunately went here on the last night of our trip to Ireland. It is always unfortunate when your last meal is the worst one of the whole trip. To begin with the service was bad. At every step we had to ask the wait staff a second or third time for something ordered or needed.
The worst was that my chicken sandwich was cold. The server never came to check on our meals and when my son had finished and I asked for the check, I mentioned my meal was cold her simple response was, “Oh, sorry”. No attempt to make it right or even a sense her apology was sincere.
I told the desk clerk at our hotel to never recommend this place again. This review is my effort to warn everyone against this place.

Typical pub grub. Was foolish enough to order a 'side salad' - what came to the table was a bowl containing a pile of dill pickle slices hidden beneath a wad of limp lettuce and sliced tomatoes . However - the fish and chips was excellent. as was the beer

My wife and I wandered into here just before the rush around 1815. We easily got a high table in one of the bar areas. We had hamburgers and stew. The staff were very nice and professional. The quality of the meat was very good and the presentation was good. 2 mains, one dessert and 5 drinks came in around €85. I would go back.

Dined here twice the same week on holiday with family. First for lunch, than another day for dinner. One member of our family enjoyed the Guiness and beef pie so much we had to go back a second visit! Both times the place was very busy - we had no reservations but we were seated anyway within a few minutes. Very noisy and crowded. Lunch serenaded by two musical performers. Casual and moderately priced.

Our waitress chased us across the street and demanded more money after we left cash for our bill. The tab was $85 and we left two $50 bills. She said we only left $60, that was not possible as we only had 2 x $50 euros left to spend before we flew home. She made us come back and pay on our card. As two American women we were afraid to make a scene and speak with a manager so we repaid and took back the smaller amount she claimed we left. Americans be wary of this place. So sad as we’ve always had a good time there, we will not come back and don’t suggest any Americans go here.

My husband and I love this pub. We visited at least three times during our recent trip to Dublin. We had dinner and drinks here at least twice. The food was delicious and better than other pub food we ate during our three week trip to Dublin. I liked getting some vegetables with my dinner, instead of just chips/fries. I particularly recommend the stuffed pork cutlet.
The clientele is a mixture of young people, middle-aged people, and seniors. The pub is next to Trinity College, so it draws a lot of students and office workers who were dressed up for a night out. No one was rowdy. The clientele also included seniors including some tourists such as us. There is a fair amount of seating inside and limited seating outside. The pub is popular, and once in a while it was hard to find a table. The service was always very good.
The pub is one block from the Davenport Hotel and the Alex Hotel. The Davenport Hotel recommended this restaurant as a good place for dinner.
Kennedy's has been in business since 1850. The author Oscar Wilde used to worked here.

This place does NOT carry Malt Vinegar to serve with the fish and chips dinner. Highly disappointed. It's really a nice place with good live music but man, no Malt Vinager is a deal killer.

Thursday afternoon 4th August and we visited this old world pub in Westland Row, which was established in 1850.
There is a lot of history about, Oscar Wilde was born a few doors down the road at number 21, the Pub is at number 30 -32. He also worked here as a young lad.
The pub is proud of it's history and association with the famous people, literary people who frequented here in the past, namely Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde and James Joyce. There is a sign on one of the pub's outside walls affirming the association. A commemorative souvenir t-shirt, available to purchase, €15 each,
A busy pub so luckily we found a seat at one of the old bars and ordered our drinks a pint pint of Guinness and a pint of €6 Heineken, not tourist rip off prices. We sat there with our drinks soaking up the atmosphere.
