Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm not a big fan of fish and chips, but this was definitely the best I've ever had. It was a lot lighter than my previous fish and chips experiences. That said, I actually loved the starters even more. The cockles, mussels and crab toast...were divine.More

We had a wonderful, but simple lunch, at Fish Shop. After hearing about the restaurant online, I knew to make a reservation since there only 14 counter seats in the entire cozy spot. We both had haddock and chips which were excellently done — flaky...fish with crisp beading that wasn’t oily. I was envious of the cockles that I saw being served — but didn’t have enough room for those at lunch. I will definitely return, if I get the opportunity, and try a few other items on the limited menu (and try out some of wines offered).More

Popped in about 4pm on a Wednesday evening for a glass of wine and a snack after reading amazing reviews. Waitress was tight lipped on hearing I didn't have a reservation. There seemed to be plenty of space. I was on my own... if they...were booked up .. fine! Anyway I was directed to a counter seat, given a menu, and told I had an hour. Then ignored while the american guests were indulged. Managed to order wine and oysters. Both very tasty as you would expect for the price. Then I asked for the croquettes. The waitress looked at me disapprovingly .. no... I needed to order a main course as this is a prerequisite to dining in. !! Seemingly I should have known this. Unfortunately the oysters were already eaten so what could we do. I was not ordering a main I didn't have the appetite for. So wasn't allowed the croquettes. Bill immediately placed on counter and told I'd know the next time (as if). No main course, no seat. Paid, finished my drink and left. (Walked to franks, also pricey but had delicious food and wine in much nicer surroundings)More

This was our second visit here, and both times have been fantastic. The food, simple haddock and chips, was awesome! We also had the calamari starter, which was quite good as well. The homemade tartar sauce was a revelation, as I have never liked tartar...sauce. I still don't, unless it comes from here! The wine list is eclectic, but every one of the wines would be a perfect pairing for the meal. Our servers were great. Friendly, funny and made great recommendations for the rest of our evening!More

Stopped here for a lunch, but did not realize that in Dublin (and maybe the rest of Ireland) they take their reservations and bookings so seriously that you need bookings to grab a quick lunch! Not a problem.. that’s our issue not the restaurant. The...wait staff offered us to order takeaway, so we ordered some fish and chips and proceeded to eat outside. Now, you will notice I gave this 5 stars even WITH the frustration of not being able to dine inside: it’s because the fish was that good. Our fish was cooked perfectly. The batter was crispy and not greasy. We both said we could have easily eaten more. If we can have a 5 star experience hovering over a barrel outside in the freezing cold… I am sure if you do your homework and get a booking, you are sure to have an exceptional meal. Truly great food and friendly staff, highly recommend.More

Tiny hole in the wall. Doubt there are more than 20 seats in the whole place and that includes the 8 seats at the bar. It is fish and chips, a few salads, a green option or two and some appetizers. They also have a...very nice wine list but no spirits or beer. This is a five star experience albeit with limited range. Reservations, probably well before you book your travel, are required. Don’t miss it.More

This restaurant is amazing!! It is teeny tiny but serves up fancy and deliscious fish and chips in an adorable space with a great wine list. Make sure to book ahead - it's 100% worth it.

Both the fish and chips were very disappointing this time round. The fish batter was greasy and the chips were simply too dissapointing. Definitely NOT worth the price paid. The Fish Shop certainly did not live up to its billing. A regular “chipper” offers much...better fare at a much better price. Fish shop, you failed!More

A friend of mine who knows the best places in Dublin reccommended we go here for a late lunch. The restaruant is a small, hole in the wall type of place. Counter seating and a wall bench means that around 30 people maximum I believe...can eat there at one time. They focus on seafood, fish and organic wines and they do this with absolute skill. Menu is not huge but every dish is executed to perfection. I absolutely love this place and my only regret is that I ate fish and chips anywhere else ever before. Well done, so good!More

Great spot. We just nommed on so much fresh food and a great bottle of wine. Shared a dozen massive local oysters (briny and bursting with flavor), fish and chips (had to, right? worth it), and a massive plate of mussels (like little bites of...ocean candy). Accompanied by a lovely (and pretty reasonably-priced) bottle of 1er Cru Chablis. Rolled us out the door, smiling. Very attentive service. A clearly-stated 90-minute time limit was not a problem. We never felt rushed at all, maybe this is because we went for a late lunch? In any case, it was a good time to be there (really cool craft beer bar right around the corner for before or after). And I know the counter seating is part of the scheme/charm/experience...and the seats weren't uncomfortable at all...I just would've preferred a table seat. NOT a deal-breaker at all.More

Read about Fish Shop on Trip Advisor and Google and it absolutely did not disappoint. We started our meal with the squid on toast and cockles, finished by the lemon sole, all paired nicely with the house assyrtiko. Jess and Jess, our phenomenal hosts, provided...an excellent background playlist along with great nightcap suggestions. Reservation will be needed but it’s an easy process!More

Fish + chips + wine, simple and amazing. Small place but awesome. Light batter, fresh haddock and good wine selection that goes very well with fish. There are other options in the menu but forget about those. Two young guys run the show very smoothly....Simply the best.More

The food was faultless, the wine was superb and the staff were fantastic. They were busy yet they managed to accommodate us and a baby. It was a great experience all round. Can't wait to go back.

The address is now 76 Benburb Street. We had the calamari appetizer and split the Hake and Haddock fish & chips. The calamari was lightly prepared - fresh and delicious. The fish and chips may have been the best I ever I had. An extensive...wine list and a nice pour. The service was lovely. The waitress was super pleasant and the owner took the time to stop and speak with every patron. Tiny place - make a reservation. Also no tables - stools have no back - actually the only drawback to the entire place - if that is even really an issue. Have already recommended the Fish Shop to multiple people.More
