First I would say that the staff were so kind and friendly. They are very good at making people feel comfortable. The food and drink was excellent. I'm not sure who the chef is, but the food looked like pieces of art and the servers' presentation was on point. Most of all, I appreciate the kind gesture of champagne and berries served when Franciscus learned that my grandson had just been born.

As part of our first day in clontarf, we decided to eat at the Fahrenheit restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Anniversary. We were able to book a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server Valentino was extremely professional and polite with good recommendations on food drinks. We both ordered off the two item price fix menu. My wife at the asparagus with sheep cheese which she enjoyed a lot. I had the pressed duck which was served cold and was excellent. For entrees I had the sea trout which was a flesh colored fish milder than salmon and very tasty. My wife had the beef entree which she also enjoyed immensely. We would recommend Fahrenheit for fine dining and would return next time we're in Dublin. An extra bonus was the complementary dessert that Valentino provided as part of our anniversary celebration- yum!

After being pressured into having 100 Euros placed in a hold on my account by the front desk (to be spent at the restaurant or bar), it was impossible for me or my girlfriend to spend it. We went down to their lounge/bar, “Indigo”, around 9:30pm. Nobody was there. We waited 10 minutes. There was no response, not even a menu to look at. We went to the second floor to the restaurant. It was overstaffed with uncooperative people. First they insisted that we have a reservation when there were more than 10 unoccupied tables. Next, there were foodstains on the menus and my girlfriend and I got different menus(there were marked differences on the second page). Finally and most offensively, they were pretentious and uncooperative in trying to make alterations to dishes so that my girlfriend could eat them. I specifically put a note in the hotel reservations online that our party had food allergies. They were so inflexible in their prix-fixe menu that they wouldn’t change dishes. It said on our shabby, stained, inconsistent menus that the chef would be happy to remove allergens. Apparently this was not true. They even labeled all allergens on the menu as required by Irish law. My girlfriend has a condition whereby food allergies can lead to permanent, irreversible brain-damage, PKU. But the restaurant was either unwilling or unable to accommodate her. This type of behavior is discriminatory, ignorant, and led to neither me nor my girlfriend enjoying our first night stay there.

My Fiancé and I, brought my parents here tonight as a gift for a special occasion, their 50th anniversary. My parents thought it was nice but my wife and I didn't enjoy the experience. Starters: Scallops Scallops were tasteless and small, the smallest Scallops I've ever seen in fact. There was some uncooked beans on the plate too with a very watery butter sauce 🤢 Main: Beef The wine gravey was burnt and that over powered the taste of everything on the plate. 🤢 Dessert: Cheese board Needs work, more selection, no figs that aren't sweet, not enough crackers, asked for more crackers, we received 3 more crackers 😑 between us. Complementary bread 🍞 and the Vietnamese host were the saving grace, I made sure she got a good tip, which I hope wasn't shared with the others because they were hopeless 🙄 Decor is nice but a four person small round table in the corner is not satisfactory. I overheard a young couple at the table next to us getting something, complements of the Chief, and it was disappointing that my parents who had their wedding reception in the Castle 50th years ago, got nothing 😢. €280 spent 😕, €49 pp not including drinks. Upside to all this, my fiancé and I won't be choosing Clontarf Castle for our wedding 🙌

Fabulous hotel at a reasonable price but our dining experience was truly awful. The waiters were amazing, the ambiance was lovely but the food...I'm sorry to say, was vile. Had chicken terrine with slimy, tasteless chickory followed by a small bit of guinea fowl mixed into a plate full of horribly overly salted so-called risotto made by someone who clearly had no idea what a risotto was meant to taste like. The side dish of 'mixed vegetables' was just giant lumps of tastless pumpkin that must have been left over from halloween. It was a truly terrible meal and possibly explained why there were only 4 other diners in the dining room all evening. Such a shame as the hotel is fabulous and the hotel room gorgeous. Couldn't stay again if this is the standard of the food.

Eight of us went for lunch, family get together. A very disappointing occasion, the choice of meals was four and very underwhelming. Service was slow and a bit disjointed . My meal was inedible , it was pan fried cod and a very strange mix of veg. We did not wait to have coffee afterwords as it would probably take another hour. We won't be back.

I recently booked the Dalcassian Suite in Clontarf Castle for a work related meeting. The room was described as having ' an abundance of natural light' - nothing could be further from the truth. The room was cold and dark when we arrived. The corridor leading to the meeting room was dishevelled and needed significant upgrading. The toilets located beside the meeting room were filthy, had no toilet paper and the hand towel roller was broken and trailed on the floor. Despite notifying staff of the issue, nothing had been done about it up to the time we left at 6pm. Service at breakfast was poor and staff in general were not that pleasant. Overall, i would not recommend Clontarf Castle for a corporate meeting under any circumstances.

Had been before and liked it. Service really bad took over an hour for a mains to arrive with no starter. Food adequate. No numbering on wine list so waiter has to laboriously handwrite the name of the wine ordered. They have a low alcohol listing - ordered from that and the wine was 14.5% not exactly low. Would not return

Clontarf Castle always looks well. And even more so at Christmas time. The old building, the lights, the overall impression is so good. My advice, during the Christmas period, is, look, but don’t dare touch. The service, usually very good, is shocking. Our server mentioned, at every opportunity, how busy they were, understaffed and dealing with greater than usual numbers of customers. ‘There’s a wedding on’. ‘There are groups of work colleagues’ ‘There are families’. unbelievable, Jeff! Worse was to follow. The food was nowhere near this venue’s usual standard, varying from poor to abysmal. Salt was rubbed vigorously into that particular wound by the accompanying Christmas time price hikes. The overcooked and tasteless chicken was quite disappointing. A single lonesome prawn hiding in the prawn curry, like some weird party game. A prawn and mussel curry that consisted mainly of a watery stock, with no more than the merest hint of curry about it. This was appalling. We spent a lot of money there that day, and got seriously poor value. If I do ever go back there, rest assured, it will not be at Christmas.

Went for coffee and a scone on Mothers day, not much staff in the reception area to attend to those having tea/coffee. The one waiter that was there was incredibly rude. The carvery did smell amazing so instead of battling for a table down at the Yacht we decided to invite the family down and suggest eating here instead. Well, I wouldn't go back again. Staff were even grumpier in the carvery. Asking for water was like asking to dontate a kidney. The man serving at the carvery was rude, asked for a little more stuffing as he gave 1/4 spoon and he gave out saying thats all they have left. Beef was chewy and potatoes were over salted. Pity - would have been nice to have found a nice new local carvery for a sunday

Being an American couple, this was an absolutely wonderful evening. All of the credit is due to Mattia and Valentino for making us feel at home in a different continent. Every meal that was brought out, was thoroughly explained and then we had a suggested pairing. I can't think of a more romantic end to an Ireland trip than a dinner at the Fahrenheit restaurant at the Clontarf Hotel. SLÁINTE

While staying at the Clontarf we were also able to enjoy the dining room. The server was gracious and thoughtful, and the food,…was amazing! We each enjoyed something different from the menu and were very pleased. The atmosphere was quiet and social distancing was observed. We have no regrets choosing the Fahrenheit Restaurant.

Everything about our meal and service was really good. I had mushroom risotto, a tad salty but great flavours, fish starter, zero complaints, and had the guinea fowl which was cooked perfectly. We shared a desert which was 3 out of 5, but it didn't define the meal. By the way the coffee was 10 out of 10. Really good coffee. Staff couldn't have been more attentive.

I made the unfortunate decision to book Christmas Dinner for 25th. We paid €1000 for 4 people for dinner Christmas Day. What was given to us was not fit for my dog to eat never mind us. Very limited menu, and what was on the plate was the equivalent to a child’s meal, not adults. The meat was cold, very dry, the veg non existent, 3 Brussel Sprouts, two small carrots, and table spoon equivalent mash potato, and cold gravy to top it off. I’m sure the chef was very proud of this reheated pig slop! The staff also want me to add extra for service, can you believe that! In summary it was a rip off.
