Bay is a restaurant on Clontarf seafront near the turn off for the Bull Wall. I've eaten there and enjoyed it in better times when you could sit at a table. Its one of a number of local restaurants in Dublin 13 which we have...tried recently for online order and collect. Safety protocols were in place and looked effective - staff wore masks/visors, food is collected at the door and there were a variety of screens in place. It has a varied take away menu available Wednesday to Saturday from 0500pm to 0900pm. Starters from €6 (mushrooms) to €12 (scallops); mains - €15 - (chicken prawn linguine, chicken bang bang, noodles, burger and chips to fillet steak €22 and scallops €24) with two vegetarian options (vegetable bang bang , vegetarian noodles at €13). There is a kids menu (burger and chips, chicken bang bang at €6 and fillet steak at €10. Desserts (brownie, cheese cake) €5 and sides at €3. There is a selection of red and white wines (5 each between €22-26) and beers from €3.5 to €5. So a varied well priced menu. However it didn't live up to expectations. First off the website was causing problems - it took your order and counted you down from 3 minutes to 23 seconds before telling you the order had not been processed. This happened to me 4 times, with an indication that my account was charged but that I would be credited. I tried sending an email to the website with no response. A phone call was eventually responded to and my order was accepted over the phone. The food was ready on time and we got it home warm enough to eat. We ordered a portion of barbecued wings which were excellent with a sticky smokey sauce. The best part of the meal. My wife ordered the chicken bang bang, which was too much for her as it was supposed to contain vegetables but the only one noticeable was a large quantity of large bits of broccoli which did not look very appetising and were mainly left uneaten. I choose the fish and chips (looked to be hand cut with skins on). The fish was supposed to be in a light batter but it was leathery on the outside and was grey in colour rather than white and flakey, while the chips looked great but weren't crispy on the outside or fluffy on the inside either. In summary lots of promise but lacking in execution.More

No occasion..we just wanted a treat. Warm greeting, all staff wearing visors, scan menu, lots of visible cleaning of tables etc so covid wise - we felt very safe. Really good choice and we all picked well. My mother and I shared a chargrilled chicken...sambo with fried onion, chilli mayo and chips..much tastier than it sounds and plenty for sharing. My sister had a salad, so happy that it was both tasty and healthy. My brother had a prawn taco with sweet potato fries. He was delighted even though it was a tad messy! A shared creme brûlée was really yum. Couldn’t fault a thing. Out to the sun shining at Clontarf seafront for a wee walk, perfect!More

Superb full irish enjoyed outside then when the wind piped up, moved inside. Was one of the tastiest full irish breakfasts I can remember having. So much so that the sausages were the last to fall. I went with the brown bread option and it...was delicious. Black and white pudding top notch. Bacon done to perfection. Appreciate this might read as a paid review but it's not, it honestly was superb. It's our local anyhow but I think this was the first time we had breakfast there. Will definitely do it again.More

Went today for my birthday after reading great reviews. The chicken wings were lovely to start. The main of beef brisket tacos were extremely soggy. I then found a piece of plastic in the caramel cheesecake. Which we were told was part of a spoon...used to stir the caramel. They left this off the bill as way of an apology... Started off good but ended badly.More

Had lunch with the better half here last Saturday. Been wanting to try for a while and we were not disappointed. She had fish and chips and I had prawn tacos. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly, very tasty and were accompanied by small...green pea and ricotta fritters which were lovely. The prawn tacos contained a very fresh and zesty mango salad and it was one of the nicest things I’ve eaten in a while. Shared a slice of carrot cake with raspberry compote. Now, I’m not a desert man (I’m usually too full of potato) but the cake was superb. Moist, flavoursome and the compote was fantastic. Service was friendly, brisk and efficient. Will definitely return.More

I meet an old friend of mine about 3 times a year for lunch and Bay is now our "go to" place for good food and a relaxing atmosphere. A few weeks ago we met again and thoroughly enjoyed our meals with excellent and friendly...service. I had a starter of Moroccan Spiced Prawns on a bed of Couscous followed by a main of Baked Hake. My friend had Chicken Wings and a Sirloin Steak. Every morsel was delicious and our plates were clean as we left. Highly recommended!!More

Probably to attract more people into the restaurant at lunchtime, when demand is lower. If you want better value, go at lunchtime!
