Paulina and her crew looked after us ...a family of 13....out to celebrate Nana's 75th Birthday so well. The Food and service were great. Everyone enjoyed it and as a regular diner in Malahide I personally thought the food and hospitality here was above par. Thank you guys & keep up the good work. Would highly recommend for family occasions, couples and friends.

Went here as was interested in their Gluten free options and also intrigued by their healthy choices and we were not disappointed. On arrival it was bustling and full with a steady flow of customers from couples , families and all ages. The service was good and friendly. The food was great just what we were looking for as so few restaurants offer healthy choices and they also tell you of the calorie value of each dish which is great if you are trying to eat healthier. There is a great choice for breakfast or brunch and the we went for the Moroccan Kofta and poached eggs with Gluten free bread, it was simple but the blend of spicing just gorgeous and such a lovely change to the usual fry up and you were not overly full afterwards but not stingy portion either . The bread was toasted which with gluten free bread is always a good idea as it can usually taste like sawdust, this was a winner for me. I asked about it and was informed it was all homemade , my partner got the Eggs Benedict with Avocado and it was simple but lovely and just what he wanted healthy but freshly prepared, and his bread was the fennel seed bread which was also homemade and lovely. Got a Cappucino which was very good and a black coffee which was fine. Defintely recommend this place but book in advance if going on a weekend as it is always busy. Will be back thank you.

Two of us went for brunch at 12.45. One ordered the vegan brunch while I (specifically) requested soft poached eggs.
The vegan dish arrived with poached eggs, while the poached eggs I ordered, arrived as solid as bullets! I had to get up from the table to get the attention of a waitress, who did not appear overly impressed to have to change the vegan option so I was very reluctant to return my food as well!! There is no doubt in my mind that the eggs were just removed from the vegan plate & then returned to our table.
40 minutes later, I had to get up, yet again, to request our bill. Had the restaurant been extremely busy, I could have understood the delay but, by the time we were leaving, it wasn’t even half full.
Such a shame, my guest was home on a short visit and thought I’d take her here for a vegan treat!

Pre-starter was complimentary hummus with 2 cream crackers each, toasted bread would have been a better option.
Ordered mushrooms starter, which were served sitting atop a large portion of the same hummus, bowl was cold resulting in some mushrooms being cold. Putta bread served plain, no marks for presentation here.
Server knew nothing about the main course we enquired about, and didn't make an effort to find out. Mentioned something about being new!
Steak was served with a watery gravy/sauce, not sure what it was, there was no choice given, and a limp salad garnish that had seen better days, was also on the plate. Steak was good, menu mentioned the The Bay's Special Rub, but we were told nothing about that.
Espresso was ordered, but didn't arrive and had to be requested by going up to the counter, it then arrived, on the lukewarm side.
The staff were more concerned with cleaning up, fans seemed to be turned on, which resulted in a feeling of cold air suddenly descending upon us.
The Bay was a favourite of ours, all down the years, granted we haven't been in a while, but it certainly isn't what it used to be, we're not planning to return anytime soon. At €130 for a meal for 2, we think we'll spend our hard-earned money elsewhere. An underwhelming experience overall.

Good selection, for groups of 8 or more people there is a separate menu with a choice of menu. Everyone enjoyed the food, it was beautifully presented and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a charming restaurant, beautiful inside but less representative outside. It is not a restaurant with a view as advertised online - there are beautiful sunsets nearby and a path to the sea towards the golf club is immediately there, however it is not a highlight and not directly on the sea as shown on Google Maps - it looks like the tide is in and out.

Full breakfast looked great (as you’d expect for €15) however, the sausages were poor quality (same type you’d get in a petrol station deli). The poached eggs were rock solid. And both pieces of pudding were bone dry and inedible. I do come here often for brunch and they have some really great other options here (Turkish eggs etc) but I wouldn’t order a fry up again.

Myself and my fiancé attended the Bay restaurant in Clontarf on Sunday for some breakfast with my fiancé. We had high hopes as my brother is a regular customer as it’s his local spot. I called at 10am to ask if they accepted walk ins and they said yes. They then asked me what time I was thinking of heading there at and I said sometime between half 11 and 12 and they said that’s fine we will put you down for a table for that time. We arrived at 11:45am (within the time frame I said we should be arriving) and I have never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant, the welcome was horrible. There was a lady on the front desk in a blue shirt with no name tag and she said “ You were supposed to get here for 11:30am you’re late!” to which i responded I thought I heard you say 11:45am (if they accept walk ins im not sure why this was an issue) but i explained I must have heard her wrong and she made no eye contact with us and said to her colleague “just sit them over there”. I work as a practice manager and both myself and my fiancé worked in the catering business and never regardless of whether a customer was late or not would I welcome them the way she did. She was extremely rude and dismissive and put a downer on our morning. I wanted to walk out but we had already drove 40 minutes to get there. The staff who served us were very nice and pleasant. We did have to wait 45 minutes for french toast which was Ok but not worth the wait unfortunately but overall the entire experience was unpleasant having been greeted so poorly. I would have complained at the time but when we we were leaving we were just told how much the bill was and quickly given a card machine. Usually when you go to a restaurant they ask “how was everything” but it was clear that there had been no training on customer service. I will be informing my brother and all his friends who are regulars there as they live in Clontarf of my horrible experience at their local that they were happy to recommend however clearly the front of house needs to learn some manners/do a course in customer etiquette because I can say it was my first and last time going to that establishment due to her poor treatment and abrupt attitude!

My friend and I arrived with no booking and were promptly given a window seat by our waitress in what was already a busy restaurant.
There were only 2 waiting staff from what I could see, but they were exceptional. No mistakes, speedy delivery of food, and both had a fabulously friendly temperament.
The food was AMAZING. Beautiful spicy prawn and monkfish starter and then we had the steak.
Both my friend and I asked for rare steaks and it was cooked to absolute perfection.
We followed it up with some pudding and tea, sang happy birthday to one of the other guests and left in a taxi ordered by our wonderful waitress.
And the cherry on top was that the total bill was €100. Amazing value for money and an exceptional experience.
Thank you so much for a fabulous night. Ben

A friend and I had dinner here the other night and I was shocked at the price Vs the quality. We paid 20 euro for very over cooked burgers and 8.50 for a bad glass of wine. It wasn't corked or open too long, it was just cheap (and I love that type normally). It was so mediocre that we decided against coffee/ dessert and went somewhere else.
Worked in the industry for years and I'd be absolutely embarrassed to serve food like that. The foh staff were nice hence the extra star.

This place has always been somewhat on the pricey side...now it's totally on the pricey side. Hard to believe that we had to pay €10 per head upfront in order to secure our booking...and for a Sunday morning reservation to boot when cancelled reservations no doubt get instantly snapped up. The breakfast itself was a mixed affair...for example, it's hard to get an Irish Breakfast wrong, but here, it’s bland at best. The bill (for 7 people) came to a whopping €161, including a mandatory 10% service charge for service that was barely efficient. It took about 15 minutes to pay the bill as there was some bizarre faffing about going on at the till. This place would do well to remember what it was that built its reputation in its better days.

Visited here with a couple of family members today and I definitely won’t be back! I’ve often passed this place and thought it looks lovely and in a great location but that’s about all it’s got going for it.Our drinks were brought to table and we were still waiting for our food 45 minutes later even though there were only around 15-20 other customers. One member of staff apologised to my brother but only because they got chatting outside. When I asked if food was on the way,the staff put their mobile phones down and went to find out but never actually gave me an answer.Food was ok but overpriced €115 for3 lunches,a starter and bottle of wine, staff were surly and had no customer service skills.

Hi visited this Restaurant December with my two Sisters to catch up before I head away for Christmas. Had heard good things about the place and the Menu looked pretty good.
One Sister was already there in the outside front part when I arrived, but decided to move inside as it was quite cold. The food was ok, but not quite as good as I would have hoped. I got Steak which to be fair was cooked as I asked . However, the accompanying Brandy and Pepper sauce was like a weak jar of bisto! No Brandy taste and no Pepper Corns, watery no-no and tasteless.
However, the big issue was the cold. The Restaurant was freezing, even though we moved tables twice. Like they had no heat turned on and my Sisters both had to put their Coats on throughout the meal.
Certainly not a warm comfortable place you might have expected. Disappointing......

It was 1 hr and 10 mins from when we ordered until our food arrived. With 3 small kids that is very, very long. Also waited 15 mins for bill, ended up going inside to pay at till. No apologies or explanations offered.
The Mauritian Eggs were very tasty, the sauce was spicy and the eggs were perfectly poached. The one small pancake that came for the kids was nice, but not worth €5. The sausages were deep fried and the rashers and sausages were identical to what you get in any road side garage deli, just 4 times the price.
Our order was mixed up, the staff were mixed up, nobody seemed to be in charge. Probably the first time in years I haven't left a tip.

Went for a family brunch - only had pancakes on the kids menu despite a more extensive menu available online, disappointing as 1 pankcake with some chocolate sauce not enough for any kid over the age of six. Restaurant was busy and service was very poor (but friendly). Food and beverages were good but everything lukewarm by the time we got them, had to go inside several time to ask for menus etc. Second time this happened in as many months, won’t be going back in a rush unfortunately.

Booked by phone for lunch (13:00) on sat. When we got to restaurant we were told to scan the qr code (for COVID reasons) which led to full menu. Then we were handed the physical brunch menu which doesn’t really make sense. After giving our order from full menu we were told it was brunch menu ONLY until 2. This I feel should have been stated when we were making the booking. If you don’t like eggs there is nothing for you on the brunch menu as every dish had eggs. Waiter didn’t seem to know what gluten free options were available and seemed very reluctant to ask the chef. Disappointing experience as we came for lunch not brunch. We were very close to leaving but didn’t want to renege on our booking as it’s a difficult time for restaurants (with late cancellations) at the moment.
