One of Dublin’s best kept secrets, Platform 61 offers imaginative food, elegant wines and extraordinary cocktails in the intimate surroundings of an underground hideaway on South William Street. Platform 61’s stunning setting takes its inspiration from a secret subway platform under the Waldorf Astoria in New York. The platform with its specially built golden elevator allowed VIPs such as President F.D. Roosevelt to access the hotel in private, and also played host to Andy Warhol’s infamous ‘Underground Parties’ Today, the platform known as Track 61 has become the holy grail for New York’s urban explorers seeking to uncover its legend, lore and legacy. I called in here after getting slightly blindsided by an Ireland match and not being able to find another place with a table for one. I was very quickly given a seat outside and as quickly given a menu, thankfully. They were very clearly up...the walls and I saw them have to turn away a number of parties due to late reservations - in one case after the group had sat down. I ordered the beef burger and it came with a side salad and what looked like handcut fried baby potatoes, it was absolute perfection. The potatoes, which I'm not normally a fan of, were fried just right, and the burger itself was extremely filling and tasty. The outdoor atmosphere was electric on account of the match, and it was nice to just sit and watch the people go by. I did notice a few customers on the outside of the parklet area getting heckled slightly but that's hardly the restaurant's fault. Overall it was a very pleasant experience, the meal was excellent and the waiting staff were very pleasant - props especially to the young fellow who was stuck with the job of turning people away, I know from experience how awkward it can be!More

As someone who regularly orders pasta when eating out, I would consider myself quite the connoisseur of pasta. I have had some delicious pasta's in my travels and food endeavours, but hands down, I had the best pasta I have ever tasted at Platform 61....The Tagliatelle made with goats cheese, asparagus and caramelised onion has truly changed my taste buds for the better. The hint of sweetness from the caramelised onion combined with the creaminess of the pasta is the stuff of dreams and beyond. This pasta was creamy, without the typical heaviness and bloating one might feel after such a creamy dish. The garlic bread was so full of garlic, it was fantastic. The ginger prawn starter was full of flavour, and the prawns so fresh. After tasting the starters and how delicious everything was, I couldn't help but add an order of their truffle and parmesan potatoes, which like the rest of the food, were divine. The interior of the restaurant was lovely, and really set the tone for a lovely dining experience. The cocktails were fabulous, as was the wine. The only (and I do mean ONLY) issue I could see to point out was the lack of options surrounding starters and deserts. If you are someone who likes tasty food, delicious cocktails and excellent service, this is the restaurant for you!More

This was a high light of our weekend away, the location, service and food were just perfect. We had a street table and we’re looked after by a brilliant lady. We opted for the bottomless brunch option, the mimosas were delicious and were exactly what...we needed. I had the avocado toast and my friend had a burger, both were yummy. The staff were cheerful, professional and so welcoming. A real gem in Dublin.More

Came for brunch and drinks. Arrived and the waiter had absolutely no interest in us. Ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs arrived hard - worse than in hospitals! Without asking if we were finished the bill was brought over to us so we felt as...if we had to leave. He asked about our meal and when I said the eggs were hard he said "Oh did you not want them that way" - who would pay 13.50 for hard poached eggs?! Probably will not be returning and wont be recommending.More

The staff here were so so lovely, very friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, but I would recommend avoiding the steak if you like it anything less than medium as they don't seem to be able to cook it right 😅 Cocktails went down...well, as did the birra moretti!More
