Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is a good quick stop if you want a sandwich or a piece of cake, a nice lemonade or coffee. The prices are OK, the service quick and pleasant. You can sit indoors or out on the terrace.

The food all looked amazing, but we only had the homemade lemonade to go. - you get a discount with your castle entry receipt so make sure to keep and present that!

Had a great lunch here, enough to bring back my appetite after a 3am start that morning! Toilets are quite a long way from the restaurant, you end up going through the Castle ticket office to get to them

This is a great place to stop for tea and cake. There is an authentic charm to the place and the cake is delicious! It is very reasonably priced even though it is near dublin castle and in the center of the city of dublin....I would return if I was in the area for sure, it was quiet and not too busy.More

Situated inside the Dublin Castle area (you can access it even if you are not visiting the castle), it offers a great terrace seating where you can sip on coffee and relax in the sun. The selection of cakes and coffees is good. Quality and...quantity is worth the price. Best thing was they offer water, flavored with lemon, free of cost to all who walk in :) Do visit if you are around.More

This cafe is located in Dublin Castle overlooking the knot garden. It is an excellent place to drop into after a tour of the castle. It has excellent food- I really enjoyed the Ploughmans lunch. The decor is nice- high ceilings, modern furniture- overlooking the...gardens. Two small complaints.... There was a cold breeze coming in through the door to the outdoor terrace and Chester Beatty museum. Visitors came in through the door every two minutes, but did not close the door after them. Not a lot of people seem to know that the Terrace cafe exists - so there were not enough people there , giving it a lonely atmosphere. Staff were great.More

The cafe is attached to the State apartments, as part of Dublin Castle. the nicer factor is the terrace seating overlooks Dubhlinn Garden which is in front of the Chester Beatty Library. I wouldn't make this a destination to eat, but if you are already...doing the Dublin Castle tour...More

We arrived around 3 pm to a warm welcome and an area set aside for us. As the lunch trade had dropped of at that time, our orders were taken quickly. The menu is extensive and very suitable for this type of cafe. Our food...was served, after a slight wait , with a lot of good humour and it was excellent given this is not a Cafe Royale. Would we go again; Yes! The location is excellent being a part of Dublin Castle and right beside the Chester Beatty Library. The view over the gardens is magic.More

Came in towards the end of lunch and should have left. Out of lots of food, staff flustered, orders screwed up, ridiculously long wait by any standard for mediocre food. Great setting and location but just not worth it unless you only want tea. New...management advertised should be ashamed.More

We came from Kilkenny and started our first Dublin visit at the casttle (Governments staterooms). It was lunchtime and the tea rooms as an annex was very convenient. We had a nice lunch, but the tables, chairs and floor were rather dirty and full with...remnants of food. Even after "cleaning" only the half of it was gone. We had to ask to clean up again.More
