It did NOT start well! We had made a reservation but that wasnt really necessary as we were told to sit anywhere when we arrived at 7pm to a virtually empty dark, seen better days room. I would expect of an 'Italian/Mediterranean' restaurant that the...tables would be dressed nicely, for me the 'no tablecloths and tables that have seen better days' look wasn't a great start, plus our table wasn't properly cleaned, but hey, maybe that's the look they were going for. But bearing in mind that the position of the restaurant is not attractive, overlooking an unattractive shopping plaza & car-park and looking right into private apartments, you would expect that they would make a better effort to dress the restaurant up a bit and at least have some tablecloths and decent tableware and napkins. Anyway, we were greeted by a charming and attentive waitress who was all smiles and to be honest was the best part of the whole place, however, we were not offered any nibbles such as olives/breadsticks on the table whilst we read our menus, which would be standard in a PROPER mediterranean restaurant. Starters were adequate, not earth shattering but nothing wrong with them to be fair, but I doubt the 'home-made' bread claim that my bruschetta was supposed to have been made from, very much. We asked for wine and I asked for water for the table, I was brought 1 glass of water, we were a party of 4! Main courses? I must echo a previous reviewer, my Tortollini was stodgy, the cheese was minced to within an inch of it's life and managed to be dry in a sea of sickly sweet sauce, and I could detect no spinach, the sauce resembled, and I suspect was, a well known can of tomato soup, far too sweet, and the whole enourmous dish of it had been microwaved to death. I was offered parmesan, which was the dried dust version in a shaker, not a nice lump of the real deal, I was shocked! My partner's sea bass was completely overcooked, and his chips (frozen, not pleasant) were late. Our friends both had a middle eastern chicken skewer dish, which was pleasant, and they both enjoyed that. I braved a dessert, mainly because I could not stomach any more of the tomato soup/sauce and was still hungry, and asked for the ice cream with espresso. The ice cream was (by this stage not surpisingly!) cheap, more ice than cream in fact full of lumps of ice, usually a sign of either REALLY poor quality product or refrozen following a thaw! However mixing the espresso with it rescued it somewhat, making it a lukewarm iced coffee, which was not entirely unpleasant. The only Italian dessert on the menu was Tiramisu, which was not available! A bizzare note, they were adviertising for a delivery driver and a well dressed lady in heels who looked like the proprietor was doing all the 'Just Eat' deliveries, I found it VERY distracting! I would LOVE to like this local restaurant, if for no other reason than that the waitress was a joy and her service was excellent, despite her not being given a chance with such poor fare on offer. Sadly I would really NOT recommend it's food or ambience and would recommend that they employ a new designer, a new chef and a new food supplier, but keep the charming waitress at all costs, she is a diamond.More

Had a lovely meal here Easter Saturday night. We’ve been here several times over the last few years and always consider it our favourite local as it’s cosy with ambience. For starters, warm goats cheese salad and caprese salad. Mains, my partner had a well...presented chicken and rice dish whilst I had the sea bass- 2 beautifully cooked sea bass with a lemon sauce and vegetables. Washed down with a bottle of Montepulciano.. we went home happy. A hidden gem in Swords.More

Probably It was Just a problem of tonight but there were only 2 very kind waiters for the full restaurants and It took 1 hour only to be asked for the order and 3 hours in total to be served a pizza and a dessert....Pizza was nice but not very similar to the Italian One. The waiters were very pleasant to deal with but they were stretching themselves to be able to cope with all the people in there. Fair play to them really.More

We visited as a family get together on Christmas Eve and had a filling and enjoyable meal. My baked Brie stater lacked an accompaniment. Something like cranberry sauce would have been perfect, as it was a bit dry. My mains, salmon pasta was plentiful, and...tasted good. The service was friendly and efficient. We didn’t feel rushed but also not too slow.More

Used to go here on a monthly basis. Omar the proprietor was bought out quite recently and there's been a lot of changes. My favourite dish Penne Entrecote has been dropped "because its too time consuming to make" My sons favourite Spinach and Ricotta Tortellini...has changed significantly. They have been made much bigger which probably makes them quicker to make and my son believes the content has changed but this could be as the sauce is too much and is sickening as a result. When I asked Empoli, they ignored my question on the Penne Entrecote and denied they had changed the Tortellini. Quote from Empoli "As I said, nothing has changed, That's how it is served in our restaurant" We've been going here since Empoli opened (and to illustrate this, it still had its original Mexican Decor). Unfortunately I could no longer recommend it. The food is a pastiche of what it once was, knocked out at the expense of quality and dishes dropped if hard to make quickly. What's doubly disturbing is they deny any changes to patrons who were intimately familiar with the menu. Respect for quality and customer has gone in my opinion.More

We had a table booked for 4 at 8 o'clock. We arrived at 8 the table wasn't ready. Although we were seated by 5 or 10 past. A Waitress asked if we wanted any drinks. They Only had bottled lager and She couldn't guarantee they...were cold ,and they had no sparkling water for my wife's drink.! 35 minutes later we got our drinks and a food order still haven't been taken. It wasn't until 8:40 that our food order was taken. Our drinks have been brought to the table by now which is the only thing stopped us walking out. And yet the takeout service was flying out the door frequently! I explained we had to be somewhere by 9:30 p.m. and that we needed our food by 9. At 9 a waitress came along with two dishes and asked who they were for? My friend asked what are they ?,the waitress replied and I quote "I don't know I'm only new!!!" The food admittedly was nice but I can't stress enough how terrible the service was and how long we were kept waiting. All we kept getting were apologies. I will never again dine in at a restaurant that has a take out service available because it seems they take precedence. We should have stayed home and ordered our food on just eat. It's not the first time we've been left waiting while chef prepares food for takeaway.More

Went to Empoli last Sunday 10th October with our grandchildren. The starters were fab, had a beer each and a bottle of a lovely Italian red between three. Have to say, there must be so much food waste, as the meals, speg bol, cabanara, where...in bowls that were sooo big, it couldn't be finished...which was a shame, as the food was so good. Maybe people would complain if bowls were smaller, but omg . Will def go again but only either get starter or main. Thanks again though, food great, although over whelming, the staff and the day was a treat.More
