Eat here lately with family and friends and found this cafe to be very friendly with relaxed athmosphere. The food is quite plain but very tasty- Duck terrine good - confit duck good but simply presented. The owner imports a lot of his wine directly so some very intresting organic and biodynamic producers on list but this style of wine... More

Have visited here a couple of times over the past couple of months and each time have been very pleased with all aspects of this cosy little cafe. The food is excellent, the portions are large and the service superb. The staff are both helpful and extremely friendly. The wine list is excellent and extensive if a little expensive. Couldn't... While lunching in this lovely restaurant on Saturday we were joined by an unwelcome companion , a fly in the wine we had just been served. We alerted the waiter immediately and he took the glass to the counter removed the fly with a spoon and returned the glass of wine to our table. Following a few minutes of shocked... More

Dear Maura49, We thank you very much for your review published on Sept 19. We also cannot tell you enough how sorry we are with the fruit fly incident. We assume the small insect itself would not have trigger such a reaction of yours, as this year Irish nice summer seems to have allow the proliferation of these little creatures.... More

I've been buying wine from this place for months. The staff are knowledgeable and have helped me choose some great ones - though I've a particular love for the sweet dessert wines. Then, last night, I actually went with a friend to eat there. We didn't arrive until about 9pm but they were still serving food and we sat at... More

The sharing plates and various carafes of wine were excellent and made us all happy. Opus of duck and the cheese and pate latter's were first rate.

It's so utterly French! French meats, French pates, French wines, French cheeses, French waiters... I love that we can taste a few small glasses of wine before committing to a full glass or to a bottle, it's very exciting for the palate! It's our go-to-place for excellent wines and charcuterie on a romantic night out. Can't fault it.

Excellent wine shop/restaurant in the heart of Ballsbridge, the food is excellent here a tiny bit pricey but well worth it - there is a wide selection on the menu, but if you wish you can just meats and cheeses and olives its really tasty, they have a full restaurant upstairs, you can also sit outside. The wine selection is... More

As a non-drinker I was a little bit apprehensive about going to the French Paradox with friends. However, the service was great and they happily filled my sparkling water whenever they came to the table with wine. The French tapas are what will bring me back! We enjoyed the Charcuterie Basque, the Camembert Fondu, French Cheese Board and Olive Tapenades.... More

Description
Ballsbridge's The French Paradox is the stuff of food legend. Imagine this, you have popped in to buy a bottle of wine from the range of more than 150. Hang on a minute, they offer freshly baked bread too... And cigars, cheeses, oils. It is enough to make your stomach gurgle with longing. And how on earth are you going to choose from those bottles, each one glinting at you cheekily? I suppose you could head for the tasting room and just try a little sip of wine and, seeing as your there, a dish or two from the amazing menu of French tapas-style dishes. A little charcuterie, a few cheeses, perhaps a larger salad or omelette now your stomach is in the mood. Now, what was it you came out for again?
