A glasshouse restaurant, where the weather is our wallpaper. We serve breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. We do lunch on weekdays and brunch at the weekend. Our New York - Italian - Irish menu is simple and delicious. Meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, herbs and dairy delivered daily by local suppliers. The restaurant vibe changes from a laid back sunrise through a buzzing sunset. A view like no other in Dublin, cityscape to countryside. No fuss, no formality, book a table and enjoy! Breakfast 7am - 11am (from 8am on weekends!) Lunch 12pm - 3pm (Mon - Friday) with a superb brunch from 11am - 3pm on Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holiday Mondays. Enjoy dinner from 5:30pm 7 days per week. Stopping by for some afternoon refreshments? We serve our wood-fired pizzas right throughout the day.

Can't recommend enough

Fantastic restaurant. Views over the city were amazing at night time. The staff were attentive without being pushy or making us feel rushed. The beef short rib was a delight, so tasty and decent portion sizes. If you're looking for a cheap eat however, it may not be the place for you. If you have the budget it's well worth a trip to take in the Dublin skyline at night and enjoy some tasty food whilst you're at it

Birthday Dinner, Lack of attention

Stayed in The Dean with my wife and brought to Sophie’s for our dinner for my birthday. Friendly service, nice seat by the window. Ordered a few drinks, Prosecco and then the food. Tried the risotto myself for starter which was so good. Had the pasta for main and again so tasty and filling. Looked at the desert menu and ordered the chocolate delice for dessert. Whilst the desert was beautiful there was one disappointing thing about the experience. The table to one side of us had the waiter bring a congratulation desert down as they were celebrating an anniversary. We had finished our desert and my wife looked a bit disappointed and then the table on our other side had a big happy birthday plate arrive for the lad before they ordered their desert. My wife was disappointed as when booking she had filled in the special request part for my birthday. She said then went to the desk and inquired about this and was told “oh yes weel drop that down after the meal”. My wife informed the man that we had already finished our desert and he seemed flustered and said “oh em we always drop it down after desert”. Now tbf this is a lie as we saw both tables on either side of us get it before they had ordered desert. I wasn’t disappointed as I wasn’t aware however my wife was as she had put a lot of planning into staying in the hotel and booking dinner and all. Eventually when she returned to the table after a while the waiter arrived with this special birthday plate. We were both full as we already had desert so left the plate and left. Kind of a disappointing end to a stellar meal. If the desk forgot or misplaced the request then look it happens. To lie to my wife about it is very annoying and disappointing. Would highly recommend the food, service and location, would have serious reservations over the bare faced lie.

Best Italian Pizza in Town!

Hands down best pizza in the whole of Dublin! Very similar to Italian pizzas, slim base, with a rice sauce - even my Italian boyfriend approved which says a lot! Really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, with great views. Would go back in a heartbeat. Only thing to bear in mind is that they serve only pizzas from around 3 - 5:30 pm I think it is - they also serve other food but it is solely pizzas from this time (just in case you're looking for their full menu)

Disappointing service

Came for breakfast early July time following a high recommendation of the place. Was seated by the lady hosting at half 9 and were only one of two couples in the restaurant, and drinks were ordered and delivered promptly and unfortunately it was downhill from here. None of the servers returned to take our order, nor paid any attention to us or our empty mugs after finishing our drinks despite not being particularly busy. After 30 minutes we had to flag down a passing waiter who appeared inconvenienced by me and ask to place an order as we were starting to get irritated at being ignored, and by this point the restaurant had filled up, and couples seated after us had been seated, served AND recevied their food whilst we were still waiting to order. By this point there were obviously numerous orders in the kitchen so we had a further wait for our food. Food on arrival was pretty average. No check backs made through the meal, empty plates remained on the table for a long time after we had finished. The fastest we were attended to by anyone was when we requested the bill and the original lady who seated us was with us in the blink of an eye to take our money. Overall really disappointing and would not recommend.

Don't let the fancy setting fool you

While the location is charming, the food was missing something - flavour. After a mushroom risotto starter which seemed promising, the main was dull and uninspiring for what were retrospectively horrendous prices. The hake was dry and the potatoes was tasteless and overcooked. My partner's dish was also bland. The cocktails and service were the only saving graces. If you want to go to Instagram arrangements of food, decor that looks "classy" and yourself on a swing, this is the place for you but if you want to go for actual good food and not feel robbed, it is best avoided!

Disappointing

Lovely setting and gorgeous drinks. Unfortunately we had a bad food experience which I hope is only a blip on the restaurant’s part. We ate on a busy Saturday night and my duck was served lukewarm, my partners medium-rare steak verging on well-done. Not good enough with food costing 25-35 euro a main. No servers came by to check on our meal and we were left waiting to order a second drink long after our first glass had been emptied. Stunning location and vibrant atmosphere, but would only return for drinks.

food was nice but waiter customer service was poor

I went here for meal with my husband food was very nice just the customer service we recieved from waitress was poor . The waitress was rude /blunt didn’t seem to pay attention to us we had to ask to order food , drinks and desserts . We had to wait over 20 minutes until we ordered our food. She seemed to pay attention to everyone else as they were ordering alcoholic drinks whilst me and my husband ordered Soft drinks everyone should be treated the same regardless of what they order . Also had to wait 20/25 minutes for my steak which I don’t mind waiting but a person near by order a steak and she didn’t tell them they had to wait .

Disappointing

Went for dinner one Sunday evening with my boyfriend, restaurant has lovely views and is lovely inside however that’s the only positive about it. It took about 20 minutes for our order to be taken by a waiter, the food then took a good while to come out and was less than average. My boyfriend ordered the crisp chicken and it was a very dry chicken breast with a small amount of mash potato. This was €25!!!!! RIP OFF. I got a pizza and it was ok. Disappointing overall as I had seen a few good reviews. Not good value for money and not great service. 4/10

Staff communication poor

Group of 4 of us popped into Sophies in the morning to try and book for a couple of drinks that evening (Sunday 26th July). The (lovely) lady in the reception kindly went up in the lift to check and came back with a 6pm appointment. We duly arrived at 6pm and were shown to a dining area with Menus. When we advised that this was booked for drinks only we were basically thrown out as we were told we had to book a main meal each and it wasn't for drinks only. A subsequent check of the website confirmed this, but we never thought to check as we had a booking accepted and did not know. We stated what had happened earlier in the day and were met with a "sorry but it's restaurant policy" quote. Seemed very strange as we were planning on purchasing at least 2 rounds of cocktails each which would have pocketed them a pretty penny. Oh well, the Harcourt hotel across the road got over 200 Euro of our money instead. Will not be going back.

Fab lunch with beautiful view

went for lunch for my boyfriends birthday and it was fab. booking a table online was quite easy. we ordered 2 mains and 2 sides. they came out pretty quickly. our server was lovely, didn’t get her name though. we also ordered cocktails that weren’t on the list - my boyfriend just asked the bartender for specific drinks. he gladly obliged and even offered to add more strawberry syrup when I didn’t find it sweet enough. also added a note in the reservation saying it was my boyfriends birthday and they gave him a free dessert with ‘Happy Birthday’ written on it which was a nice ending to a wonderful lunch. safe to say that we enjoyed our visit and will be back soon 😊

Good brunch

We swapped the whipped cream for yoghurt to accompany blueberry pancakes and granola with berries. The pancakes were exceptional- freshly cooked, warm and fluffy. Coffee and fresh orange juice were also very good. All in all, a very good place to come for brunch. Just one suggestion to the restaurant- the window seats desperately need reupholstering.

Very disappointed

We Booked a table for 30th birthday meal and they put us out on the cold terrace with one heater that doesn’t work. We could see our breath it was that cold they shouldn’t have a seated area that’s so cold in December just for the money! We had to ask numerous times for a table inside. We finally got placed inside on two separate tables as they said it was due to guidelines of only 6 per table. There were tables of ten or more in the restaurant other people having parties and enjoying themselves. We wanted to be able to sing happy birthday like other tables but couldn’t due to the separation. Our food was basic and not worth the money. Pizza wasn’t cooked enough on the top and burnt on the bottom. Steak was ok tiny little scoop of potato. The service was awful, the waiter was very rude to us we asked for extra chips and sauces we didn’t get it. They took drinks from the table that weren’t finished. We asked if they could replace them as they weren’t finished, they said no nothing we can do. We told them we felt like we were being treated unfairly as we booked weeks in advance and they were just rude. Wanted our friend to have a nice night but felt our custom wasn’t wanted. We won’t be back ever again

Deplorable service

We came to Sophie’s for a birthday dinner; what a mistake. Shortly after we sat down we were barked at by the waitress about what time they wanted the table back when we asked for more time with the menu (they allow you 1.5 hours). They rushed us the whole way through; our dinner plates were cleared while one person was still eating. Our bill was placed on the table as our deserts were served as much as to say “get the f*ck out”. We didn’t dare ask for coffee as we choked on our deserts. The waiter came over with the card machine while I was still eating. I am absolutely disgusted with this place. They do not care about customer experience and I cannot recall a time I was treated so badly in a restaurant.

Awful customer service and bad management

I was having a good experience until Sophie's manager was embarrassing and treated my friends and I very disrespectfully. I've booked a table for 10 people and since we arrived at Sophie's we told the manager that 2 couldn't make it last minute and other 2 people would be late. The manager said that was no problem, and he took one of the tables we weren't using. No problem so far. We've made our order and while waiting for the main course, the manager, the same I've spoke briefly before, came to our table and very rude and loud and started telling our whole table that we should all have order I main course, that this was on the terms and conditions of the restaurant and that we should know that. Then, he started saying that because of our group, he was losing revenue, to be precise, he mentioned that we've made him lose 500 euros because Sophie's is not a cheap restaurant. After more than half of the restaurant was already looking at us, he left and said he wasn't going to charge us, because he was very nice. The restaurant called me earlier that day to confirm details and they asked me if we would go for a set group menu or a la carte, I said a la carte and nothing was mentioned about the minimum of one main course per person. While making our orders, nobody from the staff pointed that out to us either. They also never brought the dessert menu, even though they knew we were celebrating a birthday and I've asked beforehand for a birthday dessert. All of us on the table work with hospitality, so we all understand that if you are expecting 10 people and only 6 show up, it's a big change. But we also know that you never treat or speak with our customers like that. Even more if you are not at a cheap restaurant. You never tell your clients that you look at them and only see the revenue. We wouldn't mind paying or ordering more food or even more drinks to compensate. But after being treated like that, it is clear to all of us that is not worthy to go to Sophie's, even though the view it's beautiful.

Terrible service

We made a reservation for a group of 15 people. When we arrived we were surprised we would have to get a set menu for 50 euros per person, because that wasn’t made clear on the phone. When we kindly and completely calm asked the manager about this she directly pointed the finger at us instead of being helpful. This put us in a very uncomfortable situation because we felt forced to take the set menu, because if we left we would get a 20 euro fine per person. Even though the food was fine, the meals were given in a short period of time after each course, we kindly asked if they could hold the dessert off for a few minutes, but they said that was not possible because they wanted to give our table away. When we received the bill we asked for a discount on the service fee because the service was not great. The manager came up to us and angrily demanded what was wrong with the service several times. We were quite intimidated by the way she acted, and she was shouting trough the restaurant at us. The whole experience was uncomfortable and intimidating. We wouldn’t recommend this to smal or bigger groups.
