I had previously reserved a table online was possible without any problems and very convenient if you are a tourist. The afternoon tea was at 30€ p/P one of the cheaper I found online and we were very positively surprised. The restaurant is part of the hotel and has a classic charm. The selection was well chosen and there was something for everyone. The tea and coffee were both very good. Also the service was very friendly.

Booked the festive afternoon tea in early December and enjoyed it very much. We arrived at Castle hotel from Parnell street side and didn't see which door to enter, but made our way around the front and through the lobby. Finding an equipped restroom seemed to be an issue that day but otherwise the service and place were nicely appointed. The tea itself was very reasonably priced, probably because some of the food seemed to have been purchased at Marks and Spencer food area. We enjoyed it nonetheless and the sandwiches seemed freshly made. We weren't asked what type of tea we wanted (which is the norm at pubs and such, but I thought at an afternoon tea service we would be asked). We had plenty to eat and a relaxing afternoon tea.

Booked a table for afternoon tea. Excellent location with excellent food. Equally matched with excellent service. The afternoon tea was beautifully prepared and came with coffee and teas. Both were thoroughly decent. The decor and ambient nature was noticeable. Both very easy and pleasant. A good location with good food. A day out in Dublin made a little more special. Thanks to the really pleasant staff too.

Food was bad. Got beetroot and goat cheese starter. Had the potential to be nice, good ingredients but drowned in dressing and cheese was gloopy rather than crumbly and way too much goats cheese. We both ordered the steaks. We were informed shortly after they didn’t have any more chips. We were the third booking of the night from what I could see. We ordered mash and onion rings instead. The mash was ‘smash’ and the onion rings were the frozen Lidl kind. Steak was ok but greasy. They charged €27 for the steak. We complained (waiter admitted onion rings were frozen) and waiter brought another drink as an apology. My wife’s Malibu and cranberry was a Malibu and Fruice cranberry bottle that was 2 months out of date. The apology drink was 2 months out of date also. Waiting staff were courteous and friendly but the prices and quality of food were shocking to be honest. One starter, two drinks and two mains came to €83.50!!!! Cheeky to say the least.

Pre Covid I bought my mum and her friend a voucher through Livingsocial for afternoon tea. I was very grateful the hotel honoured the voucher given how much time had elapsed with the various lockdowns/restrictions. Stephan was fantastic immediately putting me at ease when I phoned that there wouldn’t be any issues on the day. He also mentioned the manager was Trevor. My mum and her friend arrived, despite there being a slight pickle with the voucher (as I hadn’t printed the correct part of the voucher) they assured them both not to worry and relax and enjoy it. My mum and friend both said it was “the best afternoon tea” they had both ever had and the service was outstanding! They particularly commended the female waitress that served them together with Trevor who personally made an appearance to welcome them which was a lovely touch. My mum phoned me afterwards and I managed to email the correct voucher across. I cannot put into words how special it made them feel but also how much the staff trusted me to email the correct part of the voucher and my integrity was never questioned. They were delighted we were impressed, will definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you Trevor, Yvonne, Stephan and the wonderful team at the Castle Hotel/Old Music Shop!

Had a fantastic experience today with a friend for afternoon tea. I bought a voucher on living social for afternoon tea with bottle of prosecco for €39 and was cautious about how it would be but I shouldn't have worried. From the moment we got there we were spoilt. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or attentive. The location is central. The willow pattern teapot and cups add to the sense of occasion. We ate, drank and chatted for 3 hours and and really enjoyed it. The food was tasty and fresh and we had a few coffees/teas while we were eating. I will definitely return.

We had a wonderful afternoon at the Old Shop Restaurant located in the Castle Hotel. The afternoon tea was one of the best, if not the best tea and luncheon we have ever had. The sandwiches were so fresh and delicious, the scones and muffins were delicious with butter, jam, and clotted cream. The desserts were superb. Thank you the Old Shop for giving us one of the best afternoons. Two Canadian travellers were so impressed.

A fun experience and very tasty, but way too much sugar. Of course that didn't stop me from eating everything. There were 4 adults and 2 under 12. We also bought 2 bottles of Prosecco (14 Euro each). Our total bill was 111 Euros.

I brought a group of 12 ladies here to celebrate an 80th birthday. The afternoon tea was plentiful and delicious. The staff were both friendly and proffessional & the manager Eoin was constantly checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our day . Altogether a great experience and such great value for money. Id highly recommend this restaurant.

Restaurant is part of The Castle Hotel, in the vaults/cellar. Nice choice of food, we had set menu 1 night and a la carte another. Best ribs I've eaten for years, very filling too. Live music was good, traditional folk style and also had an Irish dancer on the Saturday night. Definitely recommend the venue and the hotel.

Quaint little spot the interior is reminiscent of an older time but it beautiful and delicate. The staff were really friendly and chatty. I bought afternoon tea through Groupon and found this to be a really good purchase. There was plenty to eat full of flavour and taste. All freshly made. The scones and homemade jam were delicious.

We were treated to an old world dining room for an elegant afternoon tea. We were greeted by friendly staff abd kudos to David our server, very attentive and warm and friendly!! The tea pot was a beautiful blue and a good size for many cuppa. We dined on yummy sandwiches, scones and sweet desserts. Everything was flavorful and we enjoyed every bite.
