Peploe's is a chic, sophisticated restaurant, and probably the most popular in Dublin. Refurbished in August 2017 to a beautiful finish, reminiscent of an 'old world' Parisian Brasserie, blended of a modern New York Bistro. This gem hides away in the basement of a beautiful Georgian building but it was clear from the fact that it was packed that it is not a secret to discerning Dubliners. And rightly so! The wine list is impressive and varied with a lovely selection of really nice wines by the glass too. The menu is small but well curated. I had the Dublin bay prawn risotto followed by the scallops, the latter suggested by an attentive maitre’d when I was vacillating between choices because so many options looked delicious. Both courses were wonderful but the scallops … an unbelievably beautiful dish with an exquisite variety of textures, flavours and colours. A truly wonderful meal. If I ever back in Dublin I shall definitely return.

We ate here twice recently Both times the service was perfect and great people make this happen. Wine well recommended and food menu is interesting. Had the scampi which were really fresh and cooked to perfection, maintaining taste, texture and appearance. Similarly the T Bone was generously cut, cooked to perfection and presented in a very pleasing manner. Very comfortable environment and atmosphere with spotless white ironed linen.

Oh this is a properly awful place to eat. I’m 57, if you can imagine a restaurant from like 1973 where all the steaks were frozen and most of the cheese was cheddar then you’re on the right lines. My problem is that is 2024 and €46 for a rib eye which has been cooked from frozen, a french onion soup which is like a lava lake with a cheddar scum on top isn’t good enough. We had to wait over 45 mins between mains and desserts, not sure why, maybe the ice cream scoop was in the dishwasher. Dunno. Overall, overpriced, overrated

Myself and family (7 adults and 2 children ) went for Xmas dinner last Saturday at 6 pm sitting … bill was euro 1167….the Xmas dinner 3 course plus coffee was 85 price .. but I was charged extra 12.5% service charge which was extra 10.62 per person which left the 3 course dinner plus coffee at..95.63 each ..by 9 people .. total 870 euro … so the extras were 297… the extras were .. 10 bottles of water at 38 euro plus’s service charge at 12.5% .. that was about 4.50 per bottle of water… plus 4 bottles of wine 156 plus 12.5%…plus drinks for kids etc …. When we arrived we were not asked if we wanted water and waiters kept putting bottled waters on table without us ordering water …I don’t believe we drank 10 bottles of water ... Anyway .. peploes are ultra greedy disgusting people who have turned corner on excess greed .. disgusting …horrible excess prices .. I was peploe customer for so many years and ordered take away from them during covid .. to support them .. think peploes shows that utter greed has turned them to point where they are on the slippery slide which I think will ruin them in short time even though they think they are getting away with this disgusting excess charges.. what a disgusting company that they have now become based on utter excessive greed …0872567825

First off, the food was all very good and reasonably priced given what was served. The menu offers a nice array of dishes that should please a groups with differing tastes / adventurousness. The decor and location also make an elegant setting for the special occasion dinner we were hoping to have. Where things really fell off for us was the service. Our waiter was terribly cold and made us feel invisible / unworthy of his attention. He was so short he often left before we could finish our sentence or ask a question. At first we thought this might have just been his personality or a result of a busy night only to then observe the different treatment offered to his other tables. It came to a point were we could no longer enjoy our time there and signaled for the first available staff person to bring us our check. We debated on wether or not we should say anything about it and eventually did to our hostess on the way out. I used my words carefully and posited that we wondered whether the difference in treatment was the result of classism or racism. Yes, it made for an uncomfortable “sorry about that,” but uncomfortable is an apt description for our experience.

We were staying at the hotel next door, The Shelburne, and happened to see this walking by. We stopped in around 7:30pm without a reservation however were provided a table. As we had a late lunch, we were not looking for a large meal. The waiter that took our order was very abrupt as my wife ordered the scallops with a side of duck fat potatoes while i ordered a main dish of Chicken Milanese. We also ordered a glass of wine each. The waiter said we needed to order a minimum of 2 apps each and/or a main each, we said if that is the case we will leave. He took the order and left, that was the last time we saw him until the bill was presented when he literally slammed it down on the table and left. The dishes were delivered by busing staff. No offer of water, coffee dessert etc. we paid cash and left. Food was OK, 3 out of 5. Avoid this place.

Peploe’s was highly recommended by a coworker who said it was the best meal they had in Ireland; it had been recommended to them by another coworker. I agree that it was the best meal I had in Ireland (I loved the baked aubergine parmigiana). It’s just a lovely restaurant and the service is wonderful and attentive without being annoying. The only negative aspect and something to keep in mind is that they require a credit card to make a reservation and will charge you full price if you are a no-show.

Been going to peploe's for years and it's also been a little on the pricey side but the prices - portion sizes have just gone mad. I have to say it's really disappointing, we'd normally go here 3 x per year atleast but now we can get better value for money elsewhere. The drinks were amazing and the service was friendly.

This is a favourite of a number of people I know so I chose it to bring out a friend who has been having a rough time for a treat. It's renowned for its very buzzy atmosphere and that was certainly the case. Starter was good. The fish in my fish main course was beautifully cooked but served on a nasty looking slab of green coloured stodge. I had been told by the waiter that it was served with roasted potatoes. My friend's monkfish was cold and had to be sent back. So by the time she got her replacement I was nearly finished (hate that). I asked the manager who took our plates away what the nasty stuff on my plate was and was told rosti potatoes. So either the waiter gave me wrong info or I misheard him. Either way, this was not what rosti potatoes should be. This place is much too expensive for poor food or cold food. I do appreciate that restaurants are having a tough time getting chefs but if they can't live up to their promises then they should deal with this. There was no acknowledgement of the meal having to be sent back and no allowance made on the bill or anything offered as an apology. Since I was treating my friend I did not want to make a fuss. I met an acquaintance in the restaurant and when I asked him later what he thought of the food he said 'underwhelming' which summed it up for me. Won't be back.

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and was quite booked during the weekend. We were a party of 9 people and got a good table for the group. The food was good and we selected different dishes from the Christmas menu. We drank both white and red wine around the table, but the waiter was not cognisant of guests wanting to switch wine between courses, and generally seemed more and more careless during the meals e.g. when pouring wine.

Lovely lunch, friendly and efficient service, and really great food. Only slight issue I would have was that a lot of the set lunch menu had supplementary costs included. I suppose most customers are corporate. Otherwise all really good

It’s been quite a few years since I visited Peploes and it hasn’t changed much. And all the better for it. The food is nice and reliable, if not anything special, but the staff are fantastic and so welcoming, and atmosphere is fantastic. Wine list is great, and has a decent selection by the glass, and fairly priced. 4 of us visited for late lunch and the place was buzzy. A lovely glass of champagne before being seated was a nice start. For food, starters were delicious. Tempura prawns which were perfection, crab claws perfect, tuna tarter too; and kidneys, while slightly left field and old fashioned were really lovely served with brioche toast. Mains were good but less successful. The hake was a tasty dish, but the fish itself was a little under cooked and so too the risotto accompaniment. Fish of the day was grilled salmon and that was ok. But the ribeye was very tasty. And all sides were lovely We just had one dessert. Chocolate fondant was perfect. 2 bottles wine, both delicious. A nice entry level Bordeaux and a fantastic Chablis Overall a fabulous experience and can’t wait to go back

So far our favourite restaurant in Dublin. This is fine dining at its very best, the food and service are superb, the food is cooked to perfection and nothing is to much trouble, there is light banter between staff and guests making it a wonderful experience. Take note this is not cheap by any means and could be called expensive breaking out at about £100 per head but it is well worth it. You never feel rushed it’s just a calm step away from life for a few hours.

Very disappointed to see some regular dishes gone off the menu, having dined at Peploe's numerous times before, I was looking forward to ordering the brie & gambas only to find these delicious Peploe's staples were no longer a feature. Prices seemed to have increased dramatically, €18.50 for 5 very small tempura scampi for starters was incredulous. Lacked seasoning too. €47 each for Cote de Boeuf for main also extortionate. We pay €60 for a 22oz ribeye on the bone in other Dublin restaurants. Creme brulee for dessert was slightly "eggy" and not as delicious as I remember....starters and main were tasty but not enough to warrant the hefty price tag. Even the bread basket has to be paid for now....left feeling quite ripped off and saddened that I won't be returning to a restaurant that used to be one of my favourites....
