Went to O'Connells in Donnybrook this evening for dinner, did not realise till we arrived it's in what used to be Maddigans Pub in Donnybrook. They have retained many of the original fitting and it works out really well as a lovely dining area. The food is just incredible, i had black pudding with mustard sauce as a starter which... More

Thank you Motorcar1 for taking the time to review. Delighted you enjoyed your meal and the general atmosphere. We have spent the past few months 'tweaking' the lighting, the painting and some new prints on the walls. The 'Chief Decorator' will be well chuffed to read your note. Thank you, Tom O'Connell Proprietor. More

On the way to the Aviva we stopped off here for lunch. We both ordered slow cooked braised shank of lamb with potato gratin with roasted veg with tarragon sauce. It was delicious.

Well this pub is very deceiving. Plain and small form the outside but once you are inside its huge and lovely with a lovely downstairs area. we had fish and chips and a burger which was amazing. All fresh cooked food and the Guinness was really good. Was sunny in the afternoon and a nice little seating area enabled you... More

Genesis Hockey Club had our annual dinner here last night and Tom and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The place was beautiful and ideally suited to our 70 person party. Dinner was delicious (had vegan and vegetarian suitable options). Would definitely recommend the function room here for any groups having a party!

Ideal place for good food in a traditional, almost old style but in a positive way. Food quality is very good and certainly half a chicken is a good choice but lots more. Tends to be more mature couples or families but that's a positive aspect .

We had a lovely meal here. I had the beef and it was freshly cut in front of you. My mother had the lamb and she loved it. My mum is very fuzzy and always makes changes to a dish and wants to swap things etc and the waiter did not mind and assisted happily. The staff were all great. It... More

My son is a student in Dublin. He and I popped in one evening in September at around 9:30pm for a later evening dinner. The staff accommodated our needs, and found us a table for two. It is a busy restaurant. I'd probably recommend a reservation normally, but I think they will do their best to find a table if... More

Came here on a voucher deal which can sometimes be hit and miss, it's a hit here. Started with fish, which was a piece of hake instead of advertised goujons but very tasty all the same. Followed by chopped steak which was basically what we would have called rissoles as kids but they came in a skillet of pepper sauce... More
