We were a party of 4 and had a table booked from 7-9pm for my wife's birthday. We ordered 4 starters and 4 mains. Overall the food was hit and miss, some good and some very average. However, the issue was that from the moment...we sat down we felt under pressure to eat up and get out. When we got the starters, we were asked how were they before we had even started. What was really annoying was that at 8.32pm the waiter tapped the table and said "I need this table back in 10 minutes", followed a minute later by the same waiter giving me a bill that I had not asked for. Less than a minute later the card machine was in front of me and I was shown where I can put a tip. I always tip but made an exception this time. We left and on balance, would not go back.More

A Great night out. The Cocktails were amazing and the outdoor seating area was really nice. The Staff are very friendly and the lights and decorations create a lovely relaxing atmosphere

Beautiful food, everything prepared fresh. Four of us had dinner (two couples) in the garden. Well heated and covered, it's outside but inside. The Vietnamese rolls for starter were spectacular. We had the green curry, and some spiced chilli and beef, all beautiful. If you...get a chance, eat here!More

Booked on open table a week before. They phoned me to confirm the booking the day before & said we have to buy 2 starters or 1 main per person. This was not made clear when booking except for a small print disclosure in an...email after leaving your card details. When I advised that I wanted only to have drinks as I have booked somewhere else for food just before, I was advised this is not an option and that they have a sister bar where we can book but it’s indoors only. 2 of my friends are not vaccinated which I explained to Mario on the phone and got a carefree attitude back saying there’s nothing they can do about that. (Basically saying that’s not his problem in different words in a very condescending tone). I explained that the government are not enforcing these regulations anymore, I was told that it is company policy. Therefore opium are not flexible with their customers on their own company policy. In other words, I can change that but I’m choosing not to. I spend a lot of money on cocktails and have been to multiple restaurants involved in the Mercantile group and always spend a minimum of €500 on 3 people excluding tip. After this experience I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. 1 star - will be spreading the word on the disgraceful practice of forcing customers to purchase food that is not required.More

My wife and I had our wedding (ceremony and party) in the botanical garden in September 21. The manager John was incredible from start to post wedding. Organising a wedding during the pandemic was very difficult and the original response we had from the events...team was poor. Once John became our point of contact that all changed. Nothing was a problem for him to organise. The venue itself is stunning and the food is unreal. Service is immaculate, the staff are extremely friendly and are a credit to the venue. I would absolutely recommend Opium particularly the botanical garden. It's not too expensive for the quality of food and the backdrop is gorgeous.More

Booked a table for four. The staff were very attentive. The food was excellent. No complaints about service. And the price was extremely reasonable.

Booked a table here having seen good reviews and was not disappointed. Lovely restaurant. Attentive staff who could advise on the menu. All allergens clearly labelled on every dish so it was a coeliac’s idea of a dream! Our waitress was very knowledgable and gave...good recommendations, and as soon as I mentioned I was coeliac, she noted it for the kitchen and reassured me they would take extra measures. The food was outstanding! So full of flavour and good portions. You can rate how good it was by the fact that we booked a table for another night before we left!!More

Amazing outdoor garden location with superb food. I had the delicious chicken cashew while my partner enjoyed the lamb massaman curry. Staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent value for food of this quality in prime area of Dublin

The music is in another room in the back. It isn't load at all. There is soft dinner music playing while you're eating.
