Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited Oscars in Smithfield. The menu is basic, food OK but overpriced. However, when I complained about low hanging lights that are between tables, rather than directly over them, resulting in me bashing my head off one, the manager came over all sarcastic about my...expertise in design and the fact that nobody ever complained before. There are numerous better establishments where your custom will be valued.More

Hi we went for a birthday meal for my husband along with our three children. I was taken a back that they did not have a children's menu as the meals were adult portions which were large for a child and also expensive. As the...weather was bitterly cold outside when we entered the restaurant we had hats coats and gloves on etc and we were greeted by a very frosty man who was not impressed that we had arrived at the restaurant on time for our pre booked sitting!!! Was not good. If I was late I could say something. The restaurant its self was squashed and there was no room people were sitting on tap of each other. The quality of the food was good, but in my opinion overrated I was very disappointed by the experience and would not be rushing back or recommending same to others. I think personally you get a lot better bang for your euros elsewhere,More

My wife and I were in Dublin for business and pleasure and stumbled on Oscar’s while exploring the neighborhood. As we were seated by Lucas, one of the managers that evening, we quickly learned we would have a special experience. He provided great and personal...recommendations, for dinner, drinks, and local experiences. We learned of his home town, some excellent whiskey choices, and just how passionate he is about his craft. He and all others who served us so well (including the Spaniard-turned Irish-woman table setter) were just personal, kind, and made for a wonderful evening. The food and drinks were great and by the end of the night, Lucas was like family or perhaps we were part of his. Oscar’s is only slightly away from the primary tourist neighborhoods and so has a laid back and more quiet atmosphere - at least on a Sunday evening. Highly recommended and pay them a visit. You won’t be sorry.More

Myself, wife and two kids were staying at the hotel close by. Decided to go to Oscars but had low expectations and couldn't have been more wrong! It's a hidden gem in Dublin. Really friendly staff who made us feel at home. Despite telling us...it wasn't policy to have kids after 8pm they accomodated us and 2 kids (11 & 12 and well behaved) at a great secluded table. The drinks menu is great (recommend the Zingibeer) and the food is really tasty (great mussels). Nothing to complain about - a great family meal. Well done Oscars!More

We were staying at a hotel for 2 nights close by and on the first night we found this gem of a restaurant. Welcoming staff, great service, great prices and amazing food. It was so good that we had to go back the 2nd night....We would highly recommend. If we come back to Dublin, we will definitely be coming back here.More

Ok but nothing special: we had the charcuterie board to start and that was good. A selection of meats and some cheese accompanied by some bread was tasty. My wife had the steak which she ask d for being cooked pink. Unfortunately, it came out...rather overdone. I had the pork tenderloin and it was dry, chewy and just not what I anticipated. Sorry Oscar, we will not be returning.More

Had Sunday Brunch. Full Irish, contender for worst in Dublin. With the exception of the eggs all the food was cold and seemed like it was around for a while.

Had a 26 euro steak that was cooked incorrectly, and when I tried to cut through it, it was all gristle and I just stopped. For the first time in my life, I didn't finish a steak, it was AWFUL! I rarely write reviews, but...I hope I save someone from disappointment in the future and I'll be happy.More

I had a sandwich there for 18EUR, how possible they can sell the dog food like that. Bred from a local spar shop, with poor beef quality on fried onions, the cost of it not more than 2EUR. Never yet there again.

We were staying nearby so easy to pop in for a quick meal or a pint. Service always friendly but the inside tables appear a bit worn. Our first meal was a fish stew … although listed as a starter it was a full meal!...I enjoyed the dish with a variety of fish and mussels in a nice broth. The mussels in the starter dish on the other hand were small and I did not care for the broth. We have gone back for a pint but not sure we will eat there again.More

Finally I had the chance to try the famous Irish breakfast and it did not disappoint. For those who are not used to such a full breakfast it could be tough, but I sure enjoyed it. It brought me back in time, kinda, to my...German breakfasts.More
