Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Celt pub is located north of the Liffey, close to the Custom House and The Spire.
It's packed with locals eating and drinking, and visitors, like us, looking to enjoy the typical Irish pub atmosphere, home-cooked food at a good price, and fast, friendly service.
We ordered these two dishes, which we really liked:
Traditional Beef & Guinness Stew: Traditional beef and Guinness stew, with vegetables.
Bangers & Mash: Sausages and mashed potatoes, with onion gravy.

Good food, tapped Irish beer, friendly service....fish & chips was very good sized & reasonably priced. Wanted to go here because they have music everyday - woo hoo, but unfortunately doesn't start until after 9:30 and we were exhausted from walking all day & couldn't sit there waiting for 3 hours , even though sure the lical/traditional music was superb. We had recommendations to the Celt from some locals & 4 front desk workers at our hotel!

We went for lunch around 13:00 on a Wednesday in April, not crowded. Bowl of beef stew was huge and had lots of good quality meat and vegetables. The smoked fish chowder was perfectly creamy with lots of fish, served with brown bread. The pub has a great classic, cozy Irish pub atmosphere and the prices were a good value.

We were here for dinner. It was a good recommendation! Pint of beer between €6.20 and €7. Dinner was absolutely delicious and also reasonable at €13 to €17. Friendly service at the table. At the end when paying we had to wait a bit and the bill was incorrect (tip charged twice). But still a good recommendation.

This pub is definitely what you MUST do when you visit Dublin. Its amazing staff, food, ambiance, and drinks make the best out of it! We got attended by a Mexican, Argentinian, and Spaniard waiters and an each of them was amazing! Extremely friendly, made you feel welcome, and made you feel happy! We are positive the rest of the staff is the same way. We got the chance to be there after 9:30 pm which is when they have live music and absolutely loved it! This is a MUST have on your itinerary.

The atmosphere is fine, the beers are good, the place is large and does not feel crowded. The staff is there and providing good service in a professional way.
However the food, while looking good on the menu and being nice and well prepared, is a little too much on the "light" side for the price on offer: for this price in a pub (even though it is a touristy pub, even though it is in such an expensive place as Dublin, it is not located in Temple Bar; the area is not the most tourist-friendly in Dublin), I would have expected my plate to be filled at least a good half more than what it was.
This was quite a disappointment and another proof of the 'rip-off' being practised more and more around the country.

Amazing start. Starts and Mains were lovely. Waited 40 mins for dessert after 30 mins said don’t worry but only to be told we couldn’t cancel even though we had a child with us and it was almost 9pm. We were told desserts cannot be cancelled even though there had been a mix up in kitchen! Waited another 5 mins then they brought our dry re heated desserts!! Such a shame as could have had a total different experience. Would have returned if we hadn’t had this experience.

The family and I went to the Celt to experience an Irish local pub, we weren’t not disappointed. The service was stellar and the atmosphere was of an authentic pub that reflects true culture,We decided on ordering an idealistic Irish dish ,“Irish stew. ” I only have only three letters to describe it ….”OMG”!!!! Spectacular. You can taste the fresh ingredients with heart and soul in every mouthful. A must try in Dublin.
I say no more judge for yourself.

We got a tip about the restaurant from our Giant's causeway guide as one of the best traditional pubs in Dublin. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the Guinness price, in Temple Bar the price was almost double :) Nice service, live music from 21:30. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Dublin!

Very poor quality of staff and service. We were waiting to be seated and staff were just going around ignoring us.
Irish breakfast very basic and only black pudding on it
( usually Irish breakfast suppose to have both type) Only ONE burned sausage and two very small rashes of bacon . No tomatoes, a very very small portion of beans and LIDL BREAD for toasts.
Had to ask butter many times.
No salt and pepper on table ..had to ask for it again.
Lack of service - staff slow and not very good English knowledge.
The WORST thing was when we got the bill to pay.
No split bills over 4 people.
We all had cards and no cash.
We were obligated to get cash out from ATM.
12.95 the horrendous breakfast..and had to get out 20€ from Atm.
WHY don't you hire people who knows maths instead of putting this stupid rule?
Waitress seemed in panic when we asked to make calculations.
Plus ... no toilet paper ..none of the staff went to check and replaced it once have been told it.
We felt very pressured. Staff kept asking for drinks even when we already had our drinks on table.
We are regular customers..16 years we are coming here.We noticed a huge change since after Covid.
Place has been renovated which Is very good but staff is getting worse. No knowledge of food..not a smile not a word. bronze statue.
We definitely not recommend this pub to friends and families anymore.
Prices are a rip off for the quality and size of portion served.

Enjoyed the Guinness, the Irish whiskey, the Beef Stew, the Mini Platter of appetizers, the location, that they take reservations, the atmosphere, the decor, the servers, the reasonable prices and most of all, the meal with friends. Did not care for the mayonnaise based dressing on the Crispy Chicken Salad. Nice place for our first pub in Dublin.

We were looking for a place where we can enjoy delicious Irish food and traditional Irish music. This place did not disappoint. What we loved about it was that there were not that many tourist and the food and drinks were fairly priced.
We loved the Irish stew and the Irish beef burger that we had at this pub.
The band that played when we visited was awesome! I loved their last song for the day when they did a medley with “I Tell Me Ma” and “Cotton Eyed Joe” rendition. That truly made our night! Thank you so much! I wish we could watch you guys again in the future.

All around excellent place to stop in and have a real enjoyable meal. It was really hot when we were in Dublin but we had to have some traditional food and it was delicious, Guinness stew with mashed potatoes on the side as our server suggested was just a warm hug inside. Thank you!

We had a late lunch here and the food was good. We love the way the place looks inside (a bit rustic the way and old Pub should look like). The food was flavorful and portions were plenty (you won’t leave hungry). The service was average as our server seemed to be having a bad day. Our server was not rude or distant, but one could tell that a better day could not come fast enough. I’d say that if you’re in that part of town, step in for some good chow and a cold one.

Great Irish pub. Very kind staff. Abundant and tasty dishes. We dined throughout our stay, three times for dinner and once for lunch. The pork loin with a side of mashed potatoes, carrots and cabbage is very good, the chicken stew in beer is also very tasty, as are the soups of the day, the vegan carrot cake and the chocolate brownie. Special mention obviously to the beer. If you are in Dublin, go there and you won't regret it!
