Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not the first time I have visited Rudys, A friend & I called early afternoon on Sunday 26th August 2023 for lunch.
The staff were really friendly and accomodating. There were very few customers in when we arrived but shortly afterwards a number arrived and sat near us. Not a problem usually but they came in to wtach a football match and the TV was raised in volume for them
This was the only reason I did not give a full 5 stars for our visit as the noise of the football made it very uncomfortable to stay
We had our lunch and left.
Food was excellent and well presented
Will I be back, probably, but not if there is football on, I go to a pub to relax, if I want to watch a game, I'll stay at home

The food here is just amazing,
I was there on Paddy's day and we both had a beautiful Roast Pork dinner. As usual the food was excellent and the staff so attentive and professional, it was a crazy busy day in there, large groups of people and all around Paddy's day and Cheltenham mayhem. The staff took it all in their stride and never missed a beat. Drinks and food were served without delay. I honestly don't know how the waiting staff weaved their way through the happy revellers and never dropped a plate.
We were there again yesterday evening Saturday 25 March 2023. Again amazing service.
Per the waiter's recommendation I chose the special which was Chicken Madras...wow...it was just gorgeous. Quite a large portion and let me tell you, they do not skimp on the chicken. I have been in other places where sometimes the chicken is a wee bit skimped on and the meal is bumped up with vegetables instead, not in Rody Boland's you get a load of chicken but also a healthy content of vegetables.
If you want a really good meal and friendly service go to Rody Boland's.
If you want just a pint or a drink and friendly service go to Rody Boland's.
I cannot recommend it highly enough, it has it all.

Rody's is a local for me but until now I had never tried the food. As it is now a requirement post lockdown on my first visit I ordered the garlic mushrooms from their concise but balanced Menu. They were so good I came back especially to get them again along with some lovely chicken wings, washed down by a perfectly crisp, cold pint of Heineken.
As an introduction to Pub life with social distancing you could not
find a better venue. The staff are lovely and very genuine. They are also highly attentive and most welcoming. Particular mentions to Ian and Katie for their excellent service. Well done to all for providing a lovely experience during trying times 👏👏👏

A very disappointing Saturday night meal. We ordered lamb shank with veg and a lasagna. We waited for about 50 mins for our food. When it was eventually served, we had to ask for the cutlery so we could eat it, another 5 mins. The potatoes and veg served with the lamb were cold. We were given another portion of mashed potatoes which tasted like they’d be reheated a few times. The lasagna was far too salty. We definitely won’t be returning there to eat in the future .

On 18/1/2020 at 5.30, me and my husband went for food in rody boland.
We both ordered fish and chip which was cold and burnt and dry. As I would of inform the waiter of this, it proved extremely hard to find one.
After handing more than half of my meal back I ordered banoffee pie.
That banoffee was 80% cream, dry and the biscuit had 0 butter in it cause to be like dry up crumbs that you would find in the bottom of a biscuit packet.
All and all this meal was not worth the price as the food was similar pre-made Tesco meal.

I've been a customer for close to 30 years and can honestly stay have never had a bad night there. It's a family run premises who have always put their customers first. Staff are friendly and hard working, food is excellent and the atmosphere ( pre covid ) was brilliant.
They have spent a lot of money making it a very safe and spacious pub during this Covid pandemic and ensure you have a pleasant experience. A great place to watch sports especially the Gaa. Would highly recommend.

Rody Bolands Pub in Rathmines area of Dublin is a wonderful pub with character. Attentive staff attend to your liquid needs as you enjoy the gorgeous atmosphere in this relaxed pub. (and it’s literally three steps from the UpperCross Hotel👍).
Would highly recommend this pub for a relaxing drink.

Went here for soccer on Sunday and had the best time. Ordered the wrap and soup and it was just delicious!! Very filling and a great price for what you're getting. Also the nachos were to die for.
Keith was amazing and ran the floor like a pro, we were never left waiting for anything. It was really busy and he did a great job. We will be back.

Great spot for a pint and some good eats. Friendly service, nice atmosphere. Several areas to choose from for seating - bar, smoking area, family area, near fireplaces, even a snug! Great Guinness Steak Pie and lovely goat cheese appetizer.

If you are a student please do not go to this bar, we were completely unlawfully refused entry as 3 20 year old students by the rude and obnoxious bartender, we all very happily presented ID to then be told the bar is 21’s and up, which when questioned on he said it is 21’s all the time, which is not true and myself and friends have frequented this pub before from the age of 18. So I urge students to avoid this pub to not put a dampener on your night by being unlawfully turned away.

Simply the best bar in Rathmines . The food was great, the beer was cool and the welcome was warm. I’ve been eating and drinking here for many years. I’d highly recommend.

Excellent bar. Great atmosphere. The food and wine were both lovely. Staff are a credit to the place, nothing was a bother to them! If I had to fault it, I would say the chips could definitely be better.

Avoid if you are a sports fan. Was planning to watch all World Cup games there
No sound for matches
1 bar man for 2 hours
Official rule all TV’s off after games so no highlights as per the main bar man
Very dissatisfied in what used to be a great bar for sport GAA, Soccer, Rugby
At temple bar prices, €6.50 a lager, you’re better off anywhere else with a tv in rathmines
Very disappointed
While I’m at it decor needs upgrading, the same chairs since the start of the century
