We were treated to a lovely evening by our good friend in Ranelagh last Saturday, our first time in The Wild Goose Grill. Immediately on entering we were greeted by a very friendly face who identified our reservation without having to be told. We were brought to our table and even thought it was in the middle of the restaurant we had plenty of room between all tables. The menu was full of new things to try and the staff were really attentive and explained the contents in a mouth watering manner. It was my first time trying rabbit as a starter and it was fantastic, the others chose the fish and were equally impressed, the choice of breads were lovely, especially the dark brown which reminded me of my late mothers. Our host and myself decided to go for the Beef for 2 for the Mains, it was obviously good as it was definitely the most popular on most of the other tables. The beef was cooked to perfection and was carved up at the table. The sides were also very good. My wife had chicken and was very pleased with her choice. We were full and did not try dessert but asked if we could get Irish coffees and a Baileys coffee. I must say that this was a brilliant choice once again.....the Irish coffees were divine. The whole experience was one to savour, I would sincerely like to thank our host for picking the restaurant and of course treating us on the night, the food, the wine and the staff were all first class. We will keep this on our list for our next visit to Dublin.

From moment we stepped into the restaurant to the moment we left we were subject to the most professional, courteous and personalized customer service. From the lady who took our jackers to the waiting staff . Amazingly broad but simple menu of the finest produce Wine list extensive. I choose duo of fish starter which tasted as good as it looked . The beef for two followed beautifully carved at the table with the most delicious and generous sides . My friends were equally impressed. Too full for desert so Irish coffee all round . A pure splendid experience which is a credit to all involved! Take a bow … we’ll be back !

This is an exceptional restaurant located on Sandford Rd, Ranelagh. Kevin McMahon, the Manager / Owner is totally in charge, greeting guests, sitting them and advising on an impressive and extensive wine list. We were a party of 7, difficult on a busy Friday night and out table was delayed. Charming the ladies in the party, he served them a glass of Prosecco while we waited our table. Our server was charming and went to check on the right temperature / preparation for the Venison ( a new item recently introduced), The scallops to start with were also excellent. Sweet menu was also full of choice but his knowledge of wines makes any dinner better. Great list. The restaurant opened in 2009, September, the day after LEH Bros collapsed. The fact they have survived and flourished is indeed proof of concept : Great Food, Superior Service and an amazing Wine List. Deserves a Star(s), must Visit again !!

Visiting Dublin to catch up with relatives who live in Donnybrook. The Wild Goose was their choice- they’re pretty much regulars - and we were delighted with their pick. First courses for three of us were the scallops which came as three scallops in their shells with bacon, bechamel and a red pepper salsa. This was a novelty for us Brits as here you’d be lucky to get one scallop per portion and it wasn’t as if the price of the course was high either. More relevant was the fact that they went down a storm, beautifully cooked and very flavoursome. I went for the duo of crab which was lovely but I couldn’t help but cast envious glances at the scallops. Main courses were two venison, halibut and pork , which was my choice. No complaints again from my fellow diners. I thought the pork was superb . A particularly nice touch, I thought, were two striking green bay leaves . When I tasted they were actually shaped green apple puree which was delicious. I don’t generally like mixing sweet with savoury but this apple sauce was really zingy and added another dimension to the pork. On the wine front, I don’t know if this is the norm in Ireland but there were a few good wines I recognised which were only twice the retail price in the UK. The norm in Britain would be a three or even four times uplift on wine prices in a restaurant.Something to ponder. Service was attentive and the owner in particular was very welcoming. I’d love to visit again on any future trip to Dublin.

We have been reluctant to order takeaway food from restaurants for the simple reason its often not the same or doesn't travel well. No such problems with Sunday lunch from the Wild Goose. The packaging is superb, the meals look identical to what is served in the restaurant and, best of all, they taste equally delicious. A real treat. Order in advance, give your name at the door & the meal is brought to you. No need to worry about Covid issues.

Standards never drop below five star in the Goose. Last night I collected a meal for the family. The smell in the car promised a great evening. We were not dissapointed. Mixed seafood and fishcake starters were followed with three goose mains and a cod. The Goose was as delicious as ever and came with a fabulous red wine jus. My eyes strayed to my nieces cod which looked amazing and came with a white wine sauce. Lockdown or sit down a big well done goes to The Wild Goose.

My family and I had Sunday lunch takeaway today, the food was amazing and all the staff are very efficient and helpful. Kevin in particular is very professional and extremely nice to deal to with. The tuna starter and beef main course are exceptional. The wild goose manages to maintain dine-in restaurant standards even through this takeaway. It is also very reasonably priced. The food is excellent quality. Would highly recommend the food here.

Delicious meal. Two of us had fried sea bass, vegetables and dessert. The other persons had the special of fresh caught cod.Service was good & food prepared nicely. The dessert I had was 3 tastings of homemade Irish ice cream, it was tasty! I would definitely go back again.

We really want to commend the staff, particularly the front of house manager on duty on Saturday 25th of March. We were having our dinner when the manager came over to our table and asked if we were having a family celebration. After a little hesitation, we explained that we were marking the birthday of our deceased son/brother. What could have been a difficult and awkward moment was wonderfully and empathically handled by the manager. She later sent us sparkling wine to toast our son. Fantastic kindness and professionalism. And the food was also excellent.

Simply amazing. The food was incredible and the staff were so accommodating and friendly. We went for my nans birthday and they made such an effort to make her feel special. The restaurant itself is lovely and the atmosphere was great. For what you pay, we felt the standard exceeded what was expected. Will absolutely be back and would recommend 1000000%.👏

I’m flavour of the month at home. Ordered takeaway from here. The lady Kamila who took my order was so nice , the menu perfect and lots to choose from. The food was delicious. Surprised a takeaway could be so authentic. So good to see takeaway food reaching the standards of restaurant food. Compliments to all at the wild goose. Really really enjoyed our meal! Tuna Sashimi 5 stars and the beef was too class. Thanks again and keep up the great work. We’ll be back.

Another terrific night out at The Wild Goose. Everything about this place is top class - from the ease of booking, to the very warm welcome on arrival, to the terrific food, and the lovely staff. A full restaurant on a Saturday evening, there was a great atmosphere. This is our favourite Dublin restaurant, having been coming here for many years. Consistently very good. Very Highly Recommended.

Ours was, pehaps, not the easiest of Bookings to deal with : we were, as a party of 10 (Family Members & Old Friends), seeking to celebrate a Landmark Birthday together, in a high-quality Restaurant, responsive to our various needs/requests. Kevin McMahon, Owner of "The Wild Goose", could not have been more helpful in patiently and warmly responding to our enquiries, facilitating us with an appropriately-located Table, advising on Wine Choices, and - together with his extremely competent Team - delivering a superb, totally enjoyable Dining Experience for all 10 of us : Well done ! "The Wild Goose" is located on Sandford Road, Ranelagh, (above the well-known Pub "McSorleys"), and offers extremely comfortable surroundings. Their Menu is also impressive, and all the members of our Group greatly enjoyed their various selections : my own choices were a Duck Arancini Starter & a Rib-Eye Steak, both of which were spot-on. With Kevin's knowlegeable professional help, the Wine Choices we made in advance, were an extremely impressive "Fritz Haag Riesling Trocken" & "Tour du Pas Saint Émilion" : suffice to say that all our Guests hugely enjoyed every last drop of the several Bottles we consumed on this celebratory evening. My sincere thanks to Kevin & his Team, for exceeding our expectations of what we might all regard as a well-hosted special evening - obviously, I wholeheartedly recommend this venue !

We visited last night and were excited for a good evening with good food. The evening began unusually when the waiter told us one of the dishes was virtually inedible he said that the lamb was to be avoided at all costs, which frankly left me feeling puzzled and uneasy about what was ahead. We settled on starters, a main and wine. The food came out very quickly, and I did comment to my husband that both courses felt rushed, but we assumed they pre prepare, and this simply enabled fast order to table. Not our preference but not the end of the world. We were offered dessert and said yes - there seemed to be a misunderstanding when I asked if the cheese board was for 1 or 2 people, and I was told I could have extra crackers with no issue... cue receiving more crackers than needed to feed an army, but a simple case of the waitress misheard me. As I was only halfway through my cheese, the waiter took my husbands dessert, and literally the second he put his fork down. I've always thought it the height of bad manners to part clear a table when someone else is still eating. At 2103, we were told - despite our booking being til 2115 - we had to move to the bar as the table was needed. I'd been served my food a mere 8 mins beforehand and had food in my mouth, so I couldn't respond. When I finally swallowed and said there was no issue to move once I've finished eating, I was told no, you need to leave now, and the bill appeared on our table. We paid and moved - despite the fact I had not finished eating and my husband still had half his drink on the table. On the way out, we very politely said to the manager,'Sorry to trouble you, we can see you are busy...' then before we finished the sentence to just gently feedback how saddened we were to be rushed off our table with food still in our mouths, she barked 'yes I am' and turned away to ignore us. Food has potential. Staff leave enormous amounts to be desired, and we are horrified no apology was offered by the staff - just demands - for the rushed end of our experience. I mean, I literally had food in my mouth!!!! We were nothing but polite all evening despite several other customers being rude to staff, and I fear we received the brunt of that frustration. I would expect to receive an apology, but instead, they reported me to OpenTable for not turning up to my sitting... something my 249 euro payment would beg to differ.
