The service was amazing, in a very friendly atmosphere. The food was very good and not particularly expensive for Dublin.

The website menu was the basis for choosing this french restaurant, unfortunately escargot was replaced by grenouilles. We had good meal and service , would come again.

Good variety on the menu. There is a nice garden at the back. Prices are more reasonable than comparable restaurants

I arrived hoping to get a walk in table but the restaurant was closed - I phoned their Dublin castle restaurant and they confirmed that they’d moved onto ‘new adventures’. Shame as it was a lovely little place to escape to on Baggot street (...but standards had fallen in recent times so maybe that explains what was going on ?) ....anyway let’s hope that something authentic replaces Chez Max ! No chains please.More

Went for lunch at Chez Max as part of a Ireland vs England 6 Nations Rugby tickets & lunch package last Saturday. I was with a group of ten friends at the lunch. Overall the food was poor - small portions mostly served cold on...cold plates. It also took forever for the food to appear on the table. However the most disappointing aspect of the lunch was the very poor (non existent) service. I had to ask the waiter five times for a jug of water and our requests for drinks were completely forgotten by the waiters and waitresses. It really spoilt the day and I think that it is fair to say we will never come back to Chez Max.More

Very poor service. It made our evening unenjoyable. Cold mussels and sides arrived 10 mins after mains.

Was here for dinner and was very impressed with the offering. Very much a typical French brasserie, serving simple but delicious plates. The wine selection on offer is great too and the service is friendly (albeit a bit slow).More

Genuinely lovely experience. Onion soup was lovely, delicate and hearty all at once. One person in the group thought the croutons should have been crispier - but I'm not sure how that could have been achieved. I had the chicken, and it wasn't simply that...it was done well: but that the leek accompaniment was exceptional. Everyone else was delighted with what they got. The Vegan banana and coconut bread for dessert was a very uninspired downer, but nothing could ruin this experience. If your looking for a French "Haute Couture" restaurant dining experience, go elsewhere. But if you'd like a rustic french bistro/brasserie experience in a french eclectic way reminiscent of happy holidays in France, then go no further. Handy location close to St Stephens Green, friendly staff. Lovely experience.More

We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere in this restaurant - we were seated in the terrace, very comfortably. The service was a little slow but the quality of food made up for it. However, the music was soooo loud, it made it difficult to...have a decent conversation. We chose badly in respect of having a good catch up with old friends. We did ask for the music to be turned down a little - the waitress obliged only for another member of staff to turn it back up! It didn’t seem so loud downstairs - so IF we go back we will book a table there.More
