About
he Harbourmaster is located in the heart of Dublin’s ever growing and bustling business district, the IFSC. Our fabulous former Dock Office / Harbourmaster house was first built in the 1830’s and later transformed into a pub and restaurant in the 2000’s. Both the bar and restaurant have undergone cutting edge design transformations in the last year and we continue with exciting developments, all to be revealed throughout 2018!! The Harbourmaster is renowned for it's delicious, great quality and reasonably priced food, which can be enjoyed in the stylish restaurant and newly renovated cocktail bar or in the Old-Style Main Bar which still retains its dock house character. Arrived late as kitchen was closing but they seated us and just requested that we promptly order which we did. Food was wonderful and service outstanding.

Despite a promising start (ambience etc), our order was completely mixed up and two main courses came at the same time as one starter with a starter missing. This was obviously the mistake of the waitress. Also our drinks didn’t come until way after the...food. Who wants a cocktail when half way through a bowl of Irish chowder? We are what was served and left swiftly, 30 mins from start to foo. I’d head elsewhere if I were you.More

We visited here as a trio on Saturday evening and all enjoyed some really good food. My partner and I both chose the pan fried chicken and shared some seasonal vegetables to accompany the meal - these, I feel should come with the meal as...opposed to being an added extra. Fortunately though this was really the only flaw I had with the whole experience. The service was a little slow but I expected this on a Saturday evening in December. All in all, very good food, I would highly recommend.More

Me n my friend went to Dublin from Sweden, we were planning to do a classic Irish Pub crawl but when we were there, Abraham the bartender from Mexico made us had such a ride that we spend the whole night it there 😂, food...is “meh” but he do really good cocktails, better ask for his passion fruit daiquiri. 🤤🤤More

Upon entering the establishment with a view to lavishly spend, my companions and I were most unfortunately met with a conspicuous absence of attention from the staff. Despite a patient interlude of some thirty minutes, our presence remained curiously unacknowledged. This lack of service rendered...us no choice but to bestow our patronage upon a different culinary haven. It is with a heavy heart that I must advise against this establishment for those in pursuit of attentive hospitality and a welcoming dining experience.More

We had a terrible experience in this restaurant. The bar and dining room resembled a kids play barn with toddlers uncontrolled running rampage. This was dangerous for the kids with wait staff walking around with hot food and was not a pleasant experience for other...guests. There was also a notice when booking that stated no tracksuits, which was obviously not enforced.. The food and service were also awful. The first evidence of this became clear when our starter was thrown on the table before our drinks. We ordered steaks medium and with no mushrooms, they came out with mushrooms and overcooked to the point of being grey and like rubber. We then had two members of staff including the manager come to our table to tell us we were wrong and our steaks were in fact medium. We felt that as a young couple there was a presumption from the manager that we didn’t know what we were talking about based on his attitude, as he told us we were wrong about our food. He would do well to learn some respect (and how to cook a steak) if he expects people to pay €37 for a steak. When the steaks came back out they were still grey, clearly boiled and flashed, despicable for such a price. As an aside, we also asked if we would be able to substitute onions for mushrooms and were told no. This is really poor considering there are clearly onions available elsewhere on the menu and again we are paying €37 for the meal. As well as this the service was poor; we were constantly asking for basic utensils. Definitely do not spend your money at this restaurant.More

Staff were incredibly rude to us throughout the meal, we asked for steak but with onions instead of mushrooms, normally met with a swift "of course!" in most places but we were quickly told no it is not possible, for whatever reason. So we asked...for no mushroom on our steaks anyway and out they came with a big mushroom on top of both, and both cremated despite asking for them cooked medium. We sent them both back only to have our waitress come out and show us the steak and say the chef said it was cooked properly, and let me tell you there was not a smidgeon of red left in the steak so if the chef here thinks that's medium then serious changes are needed in the kitchen. Surprisingly then we were told the manager was on his way despite not asking to speak to him at all, just for him to once again tell us we were wrong and that the steak was cooked as we had asked, which it simply wasn't. At this point we were very tempted to get up and go but we waited to see what came out, and when we did get our steaks they were unimpressive, still overcooked and looked and tasted like they had been boiled. Extremely disappointing for the extraordinary €37 you have to pay for it. Our waitress (named on the receipt as Daniella) then very sarcastically asked us if everything was okay now in another show of rudeness and disrespect. Will definitely not be coming back and would strongly recommend against ever coming here for the shockingly poor service, and mediocre, overpriced food which doesn't even come the way you ask for it.More

The staff attitude in this establishment leaves a lot to be desired. The young bar man was openly dismissive of a customer and was rude and walked away. The glass I got was dirty and no idea what the wine was ... I didn't get...a choice.More

I have been going to the harbour master for more than 10 years and i love the place. Was there a few weeks back and had a lovely time, like most of the times i am there. Went last weekend and was SHOCKED to see...the new menu and the prices......€12 in the difference in the steak on the stone (Was €23 last time few weeks back and it was €35 last sat) I know food has increased in price but think this is just taken the p*ss now. So for that reason i wont be back again.More

Avoid at all cost if your planning any kind of a special occasion because after I attended my nephews wedding here 2 weeks ago I was disgusted with the service that my family received. The manager Rory actually went as far as to correct my...(adult) niece's grammar when she asked if the door could be left open as it was so warm in the room and the A/C was so bad. And when she left a review the management actually replied with a very rude smart comment. This wasnt the only complaint of the day as there were more and My heart actually broke the next day listening to the poor bride and groom talking about how upset they were about the service they had received and that it had ruined their special day. I 100% would advise people to avoid this venue..More

Attended family wedding here a few weeks ago and we were so let down . Food was fine but ran very late . Staff were very helpful apart from Rory the manager who was very rude to several of the guests .Very disappointing and not...memories u want to remember from your special day . Did not appreciate him correcting my nieces grammar and when she reviewed it came back with his very rude reply saying “you set the tone” . ..will never visit here again . Not a way to do business. Also bar closed just after 11 when an extension till 12.30 was paid for .More

Don’t bother going if you want to have a conversation! I booked a table here for 4 and requested to be outside of the main bar as it’s so noisy . Naturally, when we arrived we were shown to the bar and when I queried...was told, in no uncertain terms that, despite the request for the booking, they offer no guarantees on the day. They refused to assist us or honour our booking and seemed cross that we expected such a thing. Won’t bother going back as this isn’t the first time a booking hasn’t been honoured.More

Had made reservation and expected a table in the dining area. Not to be unfortunately. We were seated in the very crowded, noisy bar area. Waited 10 mins before waiter came to table. Ordered 2 drinks and 1 drink and water were brought. Waited to...see if 2nd drink would arrive and when we eventually asked for this, it was just plonked on the table without a word. Have to say food was good but the service and seating did not make for an enjoyable experience. Tea and coffee were included in the voucher but they weren't offered and to be honest we couldn't be bothered asking. Paid the bill and left. Will not return.More
