Review re experience upstairs in El Silencio FFF.
What could be a lovely restaurant was ruined by extremely rude and aggressive behaviour by the owner to the customers upon arrival.
The owner was so incredibly aggressive and rude towards us that it left us all...feeling very unsafe in the situation as well as being in total shock and disbelief. The aggressive shouting from the owner and his condescending nature was kindly reserved for the women of the group, and in particular the person who made the reservation a month earlier. Not only will we not be going back, I would consider reporting the owner for his behaviour.
I had booked an outdoor table back in June for a group for my birthday (which is at the end of July) and was told we would have the outdoor heated and covered terrace for 12 people. This was re - confirmed by email from the owner in mid - July, two weeks before the booking.
When we arrived for our booking the owner only had tables available in the lane way outside, between the terrace/restaurant and all in a line and against the wall. I mentioned that when booking and confirming I was told about the terrace and asked would it be possible to still sit there as promised. In response, the owner completely flipped and raised his voice at me, shouting at me for referring to booking emails (some examples were “I don’t care what I said before, we’re busy now” and “oh of course you’d refer to those f**king messages”).
At this point the owner then told us to f*ck off and that he wouldn’t serve us at all because we questioned the tables offered and our “attitude” towards him. Granted, I don’t think any of us particularly wanted to (or even felt safe to) stay at that point.
Left in total disbelief at what had just happened (a grown man screaming at me to the point of making me cry on my birthday) we were left to readjust our plans for the evening. We actually winded up having a lovely time being anywhere but el silencio though so perhaps we should at least thank the owner for that (although you’ll forgive me if I don’t).
You couldn’t pay me to go back again.More
