Went to the Brazen Head twice during my visit to Dublin, it was that good. It's very packed at all times but still no bother to find a seat. The food is brilliant, and the customer service is great. The meal portions were quite big too and whilst a bit more expensive than other options around, it was worth it. The staff were very attentive, especially shoutout to the male waiter in the bar as you go in on the far right (bald, 30s, Irish), he was fab both when I went with a large group of people and when I was on my own. Overall, superb experience.

The 2 of us went in for lunch at around 3:30 PM, and it was fairly crowded, but we found a table no problem. The service was quick and pleasant, we got our drinks fast, and the food came like 15 minutes later, so not bad. The burger was OK, and the fish cakes great, really fresh and tasty. I got the chunky chips extra, because fish cakes don't come with chips, and I got (I kid you not!!) like 2 pounds of the driest and chunkiest potato blocks, I've never seen anything like that in my whole life! The portion was easily for 4 people, potatoes we fried in oil but so dry I could not swallow them, and it was like Hulk himself cut them into huuuuge pieces. Just weird. Everything else was nice, and the beer (Guinness and Five Lamps) great.

Of course you know this is the oldest pub in Ireland, but do you know that even if it's crazy busy, they pay lot of attention to customers? Well, I had dinner there (guess what a good Irish Stew - very traditional) and just before eating my spoon falled on the ground. One of the waiter in a different, crazy busy room, saw that and, without me asking, I got immediately a new spoon. This is customer case and you can't last 1000 yers without it!

Ireland is supposed to be the land of 1000 welcomes, someone must have forgotten to tell the Brazen Head. It was the frottiest atmosphere I've ever experienced in the country. We booked a table for 8 o clock, ordered food at 8 15, the food arrived a little after nine and was cold. We ate, but because the room was 'closing' at 9 30 the waiter was clearing off the plates before we would finished. He then came and dropped the bill as we were trying to order dessert. As he was cleaning around us he kicked a chair in our direction. It was genuinely disturbing. I never leave reviews for restaurants but I would never go here again.

We decided to eat here as we had read in reviews that it was family friendly, but were left a little disappointed. It was a busy evening, but we managed to get seats on the end of a long table that already had a couple seated at. We asked if they had a kids menu and were told that they didn't, but we could order half portions of most adult main courses (apart from obvious ones like burgers). But when we tried to order a half portion of sausage and mash for my son, we were told they couldn't make it (surely one scoop of mash and one sausage isn't complicated!), and there were only 3 dishes that they could have. Both children ended up with chicken strips and chips, which they enjoyed, but were huge portions at €10 euros each. My Irish stew was generous, if a bit bland, and I would have liked it hotter. My husband had the mussels, which again, were a little lacking in taste. The Brazen Head has plenty of character, but it was a little offputting eating with people packing the room waiting for tables and asking for our seats every time one of us stood up.

Ate here last night with a small group. 3 of the group had Scampi which was ok. I had ordered Fish and chips which arrived 20 minutes after everything else . My meal consisted of a piece of fish and 7 chips/ fries which cost €16.50. Also very overpriced as a bottle of Corona and a diluted drink was €12.80. I certainly wont be visiting here again. As a local I feel it's just a rip off.

The Brazen Head came highly recommend to us from multiple local people. We decided to give it a try after visiting the Jameson Distillery this morning (very short walk). Awesome experience. We were promptly greeted by the bartender who sat us by the fireplace to warm up. The meal was excellent. Great spot for traditional Irish food. Definitely not a tourist trap like the Temple Bar area. Finished lunch off with a delicious Irish coffee before heading back out to explore.

We went to Brazen Head the night Rafferty played. The music was fabulous but the band members made it even more fun with their wonderful personalities. They each were extremely talented and the spoon player was especially good at getting the audience involved. It was fabulous! The food was very good and the drinks were yummy. I would highly recommend this is you want a fun evening listening to Irish music and singing along. Include some time to look at the pictures and read the stuff on the walls.

Didn’t know anything about this pub, stumbled upon it after the Guinness Storehouse visit. Music & singing enticed us in, doorman led us to a table in a quieter room. Limited menu - I had a piping hot bowl of the stew which included two balls of mashed potato to go with tender beef, carrots & onions. Plus a couple of slices of rye bread. Partner had Fish & Chips which were also excellent. Guinness was actually nicer than that in the Storehouse, maybe it was the atmosphere that helped. Pub was rammed with guests of all ages & nationalities, no issues with service from friendly staff. It’s not the cheapest place but the quality & atmosphere made it worth it. Try it!

The best burger of our lives was found here today. It tasted like a Salisbury steak and it was huge. Between Malt vinegar on a salad the creamiest coleslaw to homemade chips, fizzy Cider that was almost like drinking a sparkling apple juice. I found some deep love for this cute old Pub. To the chef Steve, you deserve all the praise in the world for your amazing cooking skills. If I could rate this pub a hundred I would. 💚🍀 our waiter was also the kindest waiter we ever had. The man who poured our beer and cider, you are a true Saint for telling us about how Steve doesn't get the praise he deserves. I so recommend this place above any restaurant in Dublin.

The “oldest pub in Dublin” fills you with a sense of history the moment you walk through its doors. We had the delicious fish and chips along with a pint of Guinness from the brewery just up the road. The traditional food, drink and music make for an unforgettable experience!

We visited the pub in May 2019 pre-COVID; sorry for the delayed review. An English friend of mine who lived in Dublin for a while recommended the Brazen Head as his favourite pub. It certainly did not disappoint. The pub is a series of rooms with low beamed ceilings, lots of wood, and lots of Irish paraphernalia. In one of the middle rooms a band was playing. We sat in the front room and ordered Beef Guinness Stew, scampi and chips and pints of Guinness and Hop House ale. The food was good, but the atmosphere makes the experience.

We had the 3 bean chilli, and the beef chilli. Both were filling, neither tasted particularly of chilli (and the bean chilli was very dry). But the food isn’t the point of the Brazen Head, it’s a place to go to because ... it’s old (though not nearly as old as it claims to be) and ... it’s in the guidebooks. The live music (last Sunday evening) was great fun, really good. The singer asked where everyone was from - 1 Dubliner, dozens from US, Canada, UK, etc. So it’s designed and positioned for tourists: one off visits. I guess that explains the un-Irish, disinterested service (Eastern European style). I wouldn’t go again, nor recommend it to eat. The music is good, but frankly that’s the band not the venue.

First stopped here for a quick drink before heading over to Guinness Storehouse. Felt very welcomed even though it was busy. We decided to eat here later on the way back from our tour, it was busy everywhere to say it was only 5pm. Lucky we found a spot as someone was leaving, it was outside, felt very cosy. We wasn’t seen to straight away, waited for about 15 for the server to come over, she was on her own and rushed off her feet. Despite that the food was amazing, fish & chunky chips and lemon & garlic chicken was our choice. Would recommend as it’s the oldest pub in Ireland and it’s very traditional.

Yes Bacon & Cabbage is a traditional meal served in Ireland. There is not corned beef as some Americans may think in Ireland that would be traditional food. Just check out any Butcher shop!! But I do travel to Ireland many times a year and I have had Bacon & Cabbage many many times in various venues. From my Aunt's kitchen to pubs and restaurants in all counties. I grew up eating this simple farmhouse meal and love it. But to date I have found that the Brazen Head in Dublin is the best, other than my Aunt's!! I enjoy the pub and the Barmen who work this establishment, the menu is varied enough to please most people. But if you do go to Dublin and wish to eat a very traditional meal, order the Bacon & Cabbage along with a pint of Guiness. It will be a great meal and experience to add to your stay in Dublin!
